Thank you, very well explained, step by step, with clarity and coherence. You make the process so clear that even a total ignorant like me understands. :)
Thanks so much! Can I run applications off the external hard drive? I have a MacBook Air with a 256g internal flash drive and I have no room to update the OS. Can I move things like Word, Excel, etc and use them?
I have the same question as Hobby: TimeMachine drive in this setup backups only the main mac os drive and files or also external drives like "Windows" and "Mac Backup
If I got an SSD and I wanna set up the Time Machine, will it automatically backup when it’s plugged back in? Or will I have to keep it plugged in at all times.
I had gotten a cheap external ssd ... when dragging and copy man oh man is it slow... Mac mini m1 and MacBook Air 2015 ... Is there any way speed it up or is that the construction off the ssd .. like 50 MB FASTEST.
Hi. Great show! You’re a very thorough teacher! Here’s a question: First, back story- 1. My internal SSD (500GB) exists as a Corpse, entombed inside my late 2015 iMac. 2. Taped to back if iMac, is a 1TB SSD, with a 50/50 Partition: 3. Mojave boot on one partition & Monterrey on the other one. Q: Following EVERY SINGLE STEP you prescribe [to get an external SSDs to show up] WHY is it that Mojave sees ALL 4 external SSDs and Monterrey sees NONE of the 4?? One other quick question: Once I get Time Machine set up, and choose ‘Automatically,’ does Time Machine-by default-are the regular backups done INCREMENTALLY,..so only Adding today what is New/Has Changed since yesterday sort of thing? Thanks!
Look at the top of your desktop. Click on the Disk Utility View option. And from the dropdown menu pick ‘Show All Devices’. Samsung T7 Show All Devices Samsung T7 Show All Devices This is important as you won’t be able to format your Samsung T7 without this option picked. Now you’ll see the 2nd level. And you need to click on your Samsung T7 at the 1st level.

So for me it only says internal and not external and I want to fix this but I don’t want to touch anything cuz I’m afraid of messing up
did you unplug your external ssd without ejecting it?
Good
No luck here
