      @duncreg ปีที่แล้ว

      What lies? You go into the customer and you act friendly. At Bed Bath and Beyond there was a never say no policy. You never said no to the customer, even if the answer was no. If you didn't have something in stock, you called other stores to find it. If you couldn't find it that way you DIRECTED A CUSTOMER TO A COMPETITOR. Never say no. Also "pass the buck". You don't know the answer, you pass the question up the chain of command. I was a new nobody at corporate HQ and I was able to go into a VP's office and ask him a question I had about a freight bill. When he didn't have the answer, he pulled a guy directly beneath him off a major project to research the bill and get me the answer ASAP. That's how the company (used to) work.
      And that thing about customers? Get this! EVERY employee starts working in the stores. I got a job with corporate, but I had to report first to a store. You worked in the store first to learn how the business works and not forget that every dollar we make comes from the stores - and the customers. We had a real estate lawyer folding towels, etc. You learn all of the core principles like never say no, pass the buck, etc. Then after a few weeks when we went to corporate for the first time to start our actual jobs we got a talk about using what we learned. We were told that, say, for me in logistics, treat the stores as your customers. If you were in IT, the end users were your customers, etc. It was awesome! The BBB of 20 years ago when the founders' influence was still around was a very wise and amazing place which they lost eventually and these ideas went by the wayside.
      So no that guy isn't being asked to "lie". He's asked to treat the customers as the most important thing to the company. If half the customers want the wine before 11, never say no. Talk to corporate about the problem. Corporate should treat him like the customer too. And the issue should be passed up the line until it's solved.
      You don't talk smack about the customers, curse your head off, say it is what it is, screw customer service I just want to empty the truck and clock out, you don't get into fist fights, etc. I wouldn't hire this guy to fold towels at BB&B.
      I quit that job at BB&B after 6 months in 2005 over an issue with a boss who lied to me about the nature of the job, but I've never forgotten the core principles I learned and apply them wherever I go to this day. If I were that driver I'd never behave like he is because of what I learned at BB&B.

Most CEOs are completely disconnected with the low level employees that they are shocked that they don't like their job. It's easy to be happy going to work when you're making over $1 Million/year. • @Dakarn

      Yep, I got this all the time when I did commercial deliveries. I would get to work at 10 am, check in with the orders from the day before that came in after I left on my route, grabbed all the stuff, put it in the van, and then sat down to look at where the stuff was going. Plan out a route that would be one continuous circle so I wasn't going back and forth, and everything got delivered so I could get back to the store at 5pm, where the morning people left, and I took over the store until closing. On days where I had 16+ stops, if the warehouse guy took more than 5-10 minutes to come get his stuff, I just bounced and went back the next day. They, of course, yelled and complained to the store, but I just said that they took too long and told my boss how long I waited hitting the buzzer. Boss said, "Well, they'll just get their shit together and meet you at the door next time, won't they."

    Literally 90% of the time when it's like this, its because of how the company treats the employees. I wouldn't even fault the customer either it's their money their paying. The problem is almost always the management is made up of frauds that get paid salaries to push paper while someone like this, ankle bracelet or not, at least I respect his effort for such little money.

    The CEO only listened to what he wanted to hear. He did not pick up on the whole being in the delivery truck for 16 hours a day part. He was worried more about the brand image than getting to the bottom of what is really going on. I have been a F & B director for enough years to know these guys driving for the beer, wine and spirits companies work their asses off and Rene brought up some valid points. As the person who runs the wine program and the bar as well know that I need to be present when the trucks show up. They generally show up at the same time each week or bi weekly. They unload the product, you check it all off and make sure your rep didn't make a mistake and send you the wrong vintage with your wines etc, sign the invoice and let the driver move on down the line. I treat the delivery drivers on my route with respect and kindness and in return they really help me out when I need it. I hope Rene got or gets a better job. You could see the stress in his eyes, dude probably has a wife and children to support.

How stupid is this driver to rattle off this stuff without giving a thought that it might be used against him. Any normal person would have been on their best behavior, but that doesn’t make good TV. • @PowerDiva
      @PowerDiva ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's not staged. They know the cameras are there, and certainly some people will always act up if they know they are being recorded.... but they don't know why the cameras are there or who is actually with them. The show gives all the employees a cover story, usually something documentary-related to explain why they will be recording this "new employee" which is actually the CEO undercover. So they know they are being recorded but don't necessarily know that they will end up on TV.
