What problem do you have in Vietnam?
As a georgian, it was so interesting to listen to this cost of living from a foreigners perspective. Obviously this video's for fellow travelers, but if anyone's interested in a local's point of view here it is: for us it's actually quite expensive. veneers for example, you said that four cost 500 dollars which would be around 1600-1700 lari and when you consider that most people's monthly salary is on average 800-900 lari and a lot of times even less.... Yeah you can see that's it prettyyyyy expensive. Any medical stuff in general, medicine, surgery, or anything else costs a lot for us. Food and clothes are okay, there not cheap but definitely not supper expensive either (if you're not going for the fancy stuff of course), houses are super expensive, both to buy and to rent. Buying a two bedroom apartment would cost at least 60k dollars (while yearly salary you have can range from 6000-14000 lari on average, something like that) and if you wanna get a renovated one or furnished or in a new building it would be more obviously. Airbnb is definitely ripping you off, it's better to go on ss.ge or mymarket.ge or myhome.ge and you can rent a one bedroom apartment for like 400-700 lari depending on the condition, which is also quite expensive for us. If you're a student for example, jobs you have could pay you 250-500 lari a month so yeah, that's not enough to even cover the rent. Eating out is expensive in most cases, but you can definitely find some cheaper places as well. Education is alright i guess, a year in a state university costs 2250 lari, most families can manage this price (plus if you have high grades on the national exam you get a grant and can study for free or for half the price) so yeah it's not too bad, but private universities are really expensive, they can range from 5000 to 8000 lari which is too expensive for most families, you definitely need to be upper middle class at least to attend these (or get a loan which is what a lot people do, cause they believe these unis are much better and worth the debt, i personally don't agree with that) there are also some exceptions, to study to become a pilot the uni costs 20 000 lari a year and there's even a medical school (i think they also teach physics and stuff) which cost 20 000 dollars, yeah that's definitely crazyyy expensive. Usa 2 georgia is a lifesaver :dddd it can also get expensive tho, 1 kg is 8 dollars, so considering 1 dollar is about 3.2 lari right now, stuff on amazon is already not the cheapest plus paying for shipping and then additional 30 lari for every kg that gets delivered and it gets pretty expensive, still so thankful that usa 2 georgia exists :ddd it's only been a few years since it opened up and not being able to buy anything online either from amazon or like basically any other website was very annoying. Also, im sorry about taxi drivers, most of them do that because they know that foreigners find our country very cheap so they don't actually lose a lot of money, but of course that's very wrong its literally scamming and can't be excused, im sorry that that happens. I hope you enjoyed your stay in georgia and hope you come back soon, we really need those dollars flowing into the country to stabilize the exchange rate :ddddd (im kidding im kidding) (we really do need help with the exchange rate tho) :ddd

I see your point, For me, I am trying to get a general sense of the total cost comparison between various countries, as I am trying to decide which ones to visit/move to, etc. MANY senior ex-pats are exploring alternatives to the U.S., where they can afford to kive, based on their Social Security payments (roughly $1500 p/m). I understand that I can spend less or more, depending on my lifestyle choices, but it gives me a workable idea. Perhaps doing both with that same caveat (i.e. "these were MY expenses, your's may vary". BTW, I like the haircut, I recently did the same and, like you, I really love it.
I wonder if you're talking about my current haircut in Albania or the one in this video. haha. Either way, I appreciate you watching and just so you know: 1500 is a hefty sum for Georgia or Albania. Great quality of life. I made Georgia work on 800 USD at any given point. Cheers!

Yeah, I get that, depending on the country, $1500 can provide you a nice lifestyle in many particularly in the Balkans.. Eastern Europe, is a very attractive area but any of your followers who are 65+ will be using that as a reference point, even if just comparing which country provides the best opportunity. Once I get on the road again (I am currently an ex-pat/citizen in Ireland) perhaps we can tag up along the trail. First round will be on me. Thanks again for all you do and your positive outlook.

The goods always arrive but sometimes you have to pay the tax at a bank and they get very confused with the process. But it tends to work out in the end. I would advise you to join some Facebook groups of people living in Georgia and they may be able to help you out with other options on how to get your mail here. I have gotten a credit card sent to my USA2Georgia by a friend but it needs to have a tracking number on it. That's the only way it will work. But the card arrived no problem. Best of luck with your move! :-)
USA2GEORGIA is just one among dozens of shipping companies operating in Georgia. Inex.ge, getit.ge, camex.ge, postalon.ge and so on. You can buy from Amazon, Ebay, 6 PM or from any other online shops. In all companies, you have to pay by weight. 1KG will cost you somewhere 6-7 US dollars.

@@GringoNation My uncle had these symptoms he quit alcohol smoking did food allergy testing , began to avoid allergic foods, started fermented foods like Kimchi and adopted a vegetarian life style. Slowly he improved. It took him many months to see improvements. Now he does not take any medicine. You can try this diet route but it won't be easy because it's hard to overcome years of eating habits.

Not that cheap. I looked and it said Georgia is cheaper than Turkey but this video doesn’t seem to be the case. I am from Hawaii and some of these prices reflect some of the hidden gems I am able to find here in Honolulu which is ranked one of the highest cost of living cities here in the USA. Maybe these people are shopping like tourist not locals.

As a georgian, I couldn't believe some numbers. 10 dollars for Uber? Lol i drive for 2 dollars 1-1.5 hour ride. I get a full haircut for 2 dollars and as i know, it's around 5-10 bucks which really varies on quality. I think it was tourist technic you guys were affected, but it's okay, not every Georgian is like that. Great video, i didn't even know exact costs for number of things you two mentioned. Thanks😊😀.

You mention medical costs. Did you enter Georgia with a regular tourist visa? I'm wondering why you did not use health insurance to pay for medical services? I was reading the requirements for the digital nomad visa and it says one must buy health insurance in advance.
Hey David! Thanks for watching the video. I entered with a regular tourist visa and therefore did not need health insurance to get in.
Georgia is much more expensive than I thought. Probably tourists and digital nomads are boosting the consumer prices, whereas the locals' salaries stay the same and they have to cope with that.
That may be true, Matom. I think it’s still a great deal for foreigners but Georgians do complain about prices.
Hello I am Canadian but I am saving money in both Euros and US dollars. What would you recommend I use when I come to Georgia. Or should I just save in Georgian Lari in my Transferwise account?
Do you have a TransferWise debit card? Those work beautifully here. You can just use them to pay for most things and take out money in Lari for when you need to buy fruit at a stand or something like that. Hope that helps! :-)
Some items are priced very affordable compared to USA like healthcare and internet service.
Other items like groceries seem to be 60% of my grocery costs. But you probably quoted a price for the entire family, not just 1 person.

I recommend joining relevant Facebook Groups like Expats in Tbilisi and Foreigners of Georgia, where you can ask any questions you may have. People there will surely have recommendations for drivers. How much is it if I can't forego a $15 starbucks coffee bill per day?
i may be little late here but let me tell u the truth XD so when u go to salons or some places like that and they see that you are a foreigner they charge you more. for example for female haircut they normally charge about 18-20 lari which is about 6-7$ so if you go to places like that i recomend you to take a friend with you who's georgian and maybe they wont charg you that much anymore XD

Hey David! Thanks so much for watching! So... the haircut I mention in this video is more a hip barber shop haircut, so it is a little more costly but if you go to a local shop, you'll pay much less. As for the food, I wouldn't say it's costly at all. Some places are unbelievably cheap, actually

Hey! Thanks so much for watching and leaving your comment. I love Malaysia! So... obviously the last year has been very unique and I spent it here in Georgia with no tourists. I think usually with the flow of tourists you would probably see more diversity but in the last year I saw very little, unfortunately. An asian friend of mine even had a negative experience here. I talk about it in my CONS video, if you want to check that out. As for English, the younger generation speaks it better. Older people speak Russian. People speak English more in bars and restaurants but mostly you have to get by some other way. It's never been a problem though! Everyone just tries their best with each language. Well, the reason I was asking is my worry of lacking in diversity, as you know, I come from a very diversified country, it's scary to imagine especially with this whole Covid thing, & some Chinese [everywhere; somewhere] (I'm a Malaysian Chinese by the way) has experienced some negative remarks. As a matter of fact, I want to try going to Serbia, but sadly as a Malaysian I can't. What I spend in a month is probably irrelevant to most people, but when they have an idea of how much each item or service costs, they can understand how much they would spend, on average. @@GringoNation Just watched it and he audio started fine and was synced with the video, but then went completely off the rails with the male voice over the female video and vis versa. Not sure if that was an artistically intended effect, but didn't think so considering that the content was the important hook.
@@carlmacintyre9554 Funny you mention that because recently when I've been watching TH-cam videos, the audio has gone off the rails sometimes, as well. Not sure if it's a TH-cam thing. I actually formatted my computer for that reason and it's been a little better since then. Either way, I assure you this video is fine and there was definitely no desired effect of that sort. haha. It's been watched almost 20k times now and it's fine for everyone else. Thanks again. Hope that improves for you. But you'll most likely start noticing it on other videos too.

I traveled to many countries one of my favour is Georgia. However there is one thing I do not like about Georgia, Georgia cities are one of dirtiest city in Europe. Do not get me wrong. The cities authorities try to clean the cities, but the problem is the thousands of stray dogs on the citied and their feces. A group of local doctors made an study. They said that the level of infection by dog parasite is so big in the population that it is endemic. The dogs infect the people and children. Many parasitic infections have not symptoms, to an epidemiologist, an endemic infection is one in which overall rates are static - not rising, not falling. More precisely, it means that the proportion of people who can get sick balances out the ‘basic reproduction number’ of the number of individuals that an infected individual would infect, assuming a population in which everyone could get sick. Walking on the street of Tbilisi I saw many young and old people with infection of parasites without symptoms . The same in Batumi. The local doctors reported the government back in 2018, so far the government has not done anything about it. The bad part is that people do not care about the problem, out of ignorance.

@@GringoNation I've been in Georgia in 2018 for 10 days,stayed in Tbilisi but I drove to other parts of the country (Signaghi,Stepansminda,Batumi,Zugdidi,) and stayed overnight in Stepansminda, Batumi and Poti,the remainder of nights in Tbilisi.Too bad I have not been to Svaneti and Tusheti region,although I was very close.I loved Georgia overall and I'm trying to get back as soon as possible.Hopefully this year...all my love to you guys and Georgia and Georgians.
