    My daughter advised me that one reverse light is out on my model S and I was using professor google to check how to replace the globe. With this search I just found your channel and thanks for sharing this information. This saved me from either do the work myself or calling Tesla service. I will keep my Jeep Grand Cherokee for long distance driving and frequent towing. Great channel and 173 liked and subscribed.

    I have one more: At least for the Model S, it's about the 2 key fobs. Apologies if this is common knowledge already. You should use both on a regular basis. If you keep one as spare at home the car will display a key fob battery warning after a while because it hasn't seen the 2nd key fob and it assumes its battery is empty. The driver thinks the warning relates to the key fob in use and changes the battery but the message does not go away. Resetting does not help either. Only presenting the 2nd fob clears the error message. (source for info was SC Brisbane).

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's actually a very good tip, thanks. Circulate both key fobs for S/X

      Thanks! Unlike other manufacturers, regular scheduled servicing is not a requirement of the warranty. In the 4 years of owning my Model S, I only brought it in for a ‘full service’ once.

    My advice: Avoid DC charging and if you need to do use a 50kW charger. Overseas data shows that the battery degredation doubles with frequent DC charging. 2nd advice: Try to operate the vehicle between 20% and 80% SOC.
    3rd advice: When buying a second hand Tesla do not get scared of high mileages but take someone with you who can read out the internal stats which gives a good picture of the condition of the battery.

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Emailed centre management & also the leasing agent of 'Westleigh Shopping Village' and 'Pennant Hills Market Place' and recently opened 'Beecroft Place' and 'Portico Plaza' (Toongabbie) and requested whether could install 4 charging stations (or at least bare minimal 2) and only got one reply from the real estate agent who looks after the leasing at Westleigh and they said it was a great idea and passed the request onto the centre management, did not hear back from the other three though, yet. Had a quick look also at Gordon Shopping Center and even they dont have an EV charger onsite just like Westfields Hornsby, Gordon has a wall socket listed on PlugShare and there are a quite a few EV's in that Pymble/Turramurra/Wahroonga/Gordon area

    Best and most helpful episode so far this year. I have something to ask: I haven’t taken the car in yet for a valet wash but if I do, how do you approach the car cleaning guy, it’s hard to know if they know how to set a Tesla up for a wash if they haven’t done one before. Do you set it in valet mode and give them the black card? Will they even know how to open boots, set wipers, don’t touch the charge port light or it will open, how to close the frunk safely etc. there are so many things to tell them I would be hesitant to let a stranger wash the car!

    • @LudicrousFeed

      Thanks Tony! Glad you enjoyed it. To be honest I haven’t brought either cars in for a valet wash yet for those reasons you’ve outlined. Maybe I should do a guide on what the Valet option actually allows.

      Tesla Tom’s Ludicrous Feed yes that would be wonderful if you can do an episode on valet car washing or valet mode in general, how do you do a quick handover at car wash to someone you have to assume hasn’t washed a Tesla 3 or S without sounding like a paranoid douche bag!

    Regarding going back to an ICE car completely agree. It would be really regretful if I did. Although ATM I think EVs are struggling if you need towing, as we all know battery density should improve, then it might be feasible. Another thing is 2 wheels EVs, I've been sussing out for a while but ATM the price difference between ICE version and EV ones is huge (was looking at the Zero SR)

      I’m looking at getting a Model X late next year. But as I live in the country and use my car to go pick up firewood in a dirty muddy filthy paddock, I could never see me taking an X to that cesspit ( have I said it’s damn filthy?), so I’m thinking of maybe keeping my old Commodore wagon which can carry the chain saw, work boots, axes, petrol container, oil container and all sundry ropes and crap that you need to be a country ‘bloke’. Just thinking though. I know towing the heavy trailer would be interesting with the Tesla...!

Will be interesting to find out if the '13 Brumby St, Seven Hills' metal gate is locked Fri 5pm to Mon 9am and 5pm-9am Mon-Thu, and also eagerly waiting to see how the much anticipated '38 Abbott Road, Seven Hills' site looks like.
      With the 'Portico Plaza - Toongabbie' since you are in the area if visiting Seven Hills already, would be good to see you make a video of going to the spot where they have the 'wall socket' in their underground carpark, then that video can possibly be used to encourage the shopping centre to install 3-4 actual chargers, as they will have video proof that at least one person came to their shopping centre wanting to use the charger

      On the Ioniq classic you can set a charging schedule (= set period of charge time) to limit the max. SOC. On the facelift there is a setting for the max. SOC itself. The Classic's battery is very high in Cobalt making it robust to fast charging and high SOC. BTW Ioniq and Twizzy are my secret EV Loves even I drive a Tesla now days.

    Trying to decide to download full self drive. It seems we can do a lot more here in Australia now. Re the reverse light, I called the service and they said yes it’s normal. So that was good. Yes the The range on ours is 500. Yes phantom breaking does happen, but I was prepared for it.
    We charge to 90% as recommended at handover. We live where there are distances to drive, so 90% seems safer. We haven’t done a road trip yet because of COVID, but we are hoping in August to Sunshine Coast. 🤞. So should we but the Full Self Drive? Thanks for your channel.

      Hi Donald, thanks for your comment. I think it’s a personal decision with purchasing FSD and it depends on how much of it you think you will use. It is due to increase in price on 1 July in many markets as Elon Musk has tweeted. I’d say the handiest feature with FSD is auto-Lane change. As for NoA, it’s still largely a work in progress as is the traffic light reactivity feature.
      Thanks for supporting the channel! 👍

    Thanks tom&joy. So much conflicted advice on charging. Tesla Sydney say 90% is fine. Elon said 90% is fine. Elon also said charging to 100% will recalibrate Lost range and balance the pack every 3 months or so. If charging is so deadly at 90% or higher why is available at all on the slider scale.Also dc super charging is bad ? Why even build them at all? Every person has a opinion in this area. Maybe we should take our advice from the people who build these cars 🚗

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DC charging is good for road trips and long drives. Otherwise we just charge with our home charger. I probably only charge to 100% a handful of times a year for long drives. As I said in the vid, we rarely charge past 90% because it takes longer relatively speaking.

    It's not that charging past 80% is not "effective " they just do that so that you do not damage the battery. If you pay attention to your phone charging you will notice the same thing. The higher the state of charge the slower your phone will charge, it is just more noticeable in electric cars because the battery is so much larger when compared to your phone

    Even Cell phone batteries do not like being at 100% for a long time.
    Apple released a new charging profile for those that leave their iphones on a charger over night.
    It charges part way at first and then waits until morning to finish the charge based on your usage.
    This is so the phone is not sitting at 100% all night long. Sitting at 100% for long periods of time is bad for any lithium ion battery. Check out the information of their web site. This might help reduce battery some complaints in the future.

    • @shanelord1666
      @shanelord1666 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I’m sorry to hear this scares you away from an EV. As someone that owns both, none of this is scary at all. Just like an EV, an ICE also has a number of things you need to be aware of, just that we’ve gotten used to them over time. The fact is driving an EV is ultimately easier and stress free - it’s always charged (if you plug in when you get home every day) and it never needs “regular” servicing. It’s quieter, more powerful, produces no pollution around itself (ie no exhaust) and if charged from solar, produces no pollution at all.
