Apparently this is the intended sound (or close to it, anyway)... @DemonTomatoDave correct me if I'm wrong! Recorded using S-YXG50 VSTi with the 2MB soundset.
PEDANT INFO: The S-YXG70 driver that came with FF7 is basically two synths in one: XG = S-YXG50, XGLite = S-YG20. For its XG mode, it only came with the 2MB soundset (SXGWAVE2.TBL) - whereas the S-YXG50 VSTi also came with the 4MB soundset (SXGWAVE4.TBL). The modified S-YXG50 VSTi I believe has superior output quality compared to the actual driver, and allows for configuring which soundset to use - so that's what I used here. Its 2MB soundset is basically the exact same one as in the S-YXG70. Granted, the default settings for the S-YXG70 sets it to XGLite whereas XG mode basically sounds the same as this one... I can re-record it in XGLite (YXG70 or just plain YG20) if that's indeed what it was set to at the time.

Sounds comfortable and nostalgic, and SRB2 isn't even a part of my childhood (I first played it just two years ago!).
