OMG I need to watch more tutorials, I needed this im new and frustrated myself trying thin letters im just practicing but it made me rethink my choice of getting a cricut 😊
Brilliant idea! Thanks so much for a great video. I had a tantrum the other day over weeding a small font with glitter iron-on and was very disappointed. I use only Cricut products and could not successfully troubleshoot. I also thought my blade was not sharp enough so I selected more pressure for my knife blade. I was using htv glitter and didn’t want to give up. I took a breather haha and thankfully saw this video. Going back to the “drawing board”/craft table tomorrow. ♥️
THANK YOU! I have to try this. I was sooooo frustrated and started adding solid backgrounds because I couldn't figure it out. :) I'm trying this tonight.
I usually use regular transfer tape (I have the Cricut and Oracle transfer tapes and both are very similar to each other), but if I find the letters are not sticking to the transfer tape, then I go for Cricut's strong grip transfer tape, which comes with the permanent rolls.
Suggestion from a new cricuter - try a different transfer tape! I had the same problem with the oracal transfer tape. I just got the Pizee transfer tape (from amazon) and its AMAZING. WAAYYY better and solved all my problems actually.
That is usually one of two things. Either the mat you are using isn’t sticky enough, or the blade is dull. More often than not, the mat is the problem.
This sadly did not work for me. I don't know if its because I was using smart vinyl but I ended up damaging my squeegy because of how hard I had to keep pressing because the words would NOT stick to the transfer tape.
I have had that happen before, when it does I find that a stronger transfer tape usually works. Permanent Cricut vinyl comes with a stronger transfer tape. If you have any, give it a try and see if it works for you.
You really should have seen my face while watching in amazement. The pile wasted vinyl is mocking me. I really hope this works! Thanks for your video!

Thank you!
Omg thank you so much I needed this video I’ve subbed
Lol, we’ve ask been there! Glad I could help!
Helpful 👍🏻 simple question ⁉️ After peeling can we heat press with tape ?
You can only use the heat press if it's Iron on Vinyl/HTV. For this one I used regular vinyl so the heat press would melt it. Thanks for the question!
Hi does this work with iron on vinyl as well please
Great question! For iron on vinyl, even the skinny letters usually stay stuck to the carrier sheet, so you shouldn't need any extra tricks for it :).
Do you mirror your image when you need to do reverse weeding
Great question, only if you are using iron on material
What transfer tape do you find works best to hold down your letters during the reverse weeding step?
I usually use regular transfer tape (I have the Cricut and Oracle transfer tapes and both are very similar to each other), but if I find the letters are not sticking to the transfer tape, then I go for Cricut's strong grip transfer tape, which comes with the permanent rolls.
I love you
haha, thanks!
Does this work with heat transfer vinyl as well?
Your don't have to worry about it with HTV, because it stays stuck on the carrier sheet. It's just the vinyl that it really tricky.
How can I do this with Iron on??!!
Thank you very much dear, it was really helpful video. My cricut joy cut every thing through and remove it when the blade moved. 😭
Oh no, that's the worst!
What kind of vinyl do you use? My cricut permanent vinyl will not transfer to the tape no matter how much I burnish it using this method :(
Suggestion from a new cricuter - try a different transfer tape! I had the same problem with the oracal transfer tape. I just got the Pizee transfer tape (from amazon) and its AMAZING. WAAYYY better and solved all my problems actually.
What can I do if my letters pull up and tear in the cutting process
That is usually one of two things. Either the mat you are using isn’t sticky enough, or the blade is dull. More often than not, the mat is the problem.
This sadly did not work for me. I don't know if its because I was using smart vinyl but I ended up damaging my squeegy because of how hard I had to keep pressing because the words would NOT stick to the transfer tape.

I have tried this and it didn't work what could I be doing wrong
Maybe a slightly stronger transfer tape?
@@CricutTime I can try but I have tried everything
It wont stick 😢
unfortunately I have not found this to work well with glitter adhestive vinyl.
Good point… Glitter vinyl can be tricky. I'd recommend using a regular vinyl for thin writing, and then add the glitter for thicker elements.
Literally my first project is tiny lettering 😅 maybe I need more practice
Good luck!!
Thank you !!
No problem!
