He came back to the states after the war and married his wife who passed away in 2015. She waited for him in France for five years after he left for duty and returned to his home but eventually got married herself but her husband passed 30 years ago. She had five kids as well. They never forgot each other. Mr. Robbins only speaks English, while Mrs. Ganaye only speaks French. They communicate through their love it’s so beautiful. Even though he went back to the states I read there’s many ppl working to keep them in touch. Got them computers and they can video chat with each other and ppl are also funding their trips to see each other again. I cried a lot while watching this. I just wish & hope they could pass on together... 🙏🏼❤️❤️

Broke his heart... but he got over it, met another girl, got married, had 4 girls. His wife died when he was in his 70s, and out of boredom he decided to attend his high school reunion. And there she was... came from California to Illinois to attend that event, secretly hoping for meeting him once again... ever since then they have been dating, long distance. Daughter who was with him that night told me: I've never seen my dad giggle so much as he was doing with her!Unfortunately, he became very ill and she couldn't fly to see him at the time when he became sick. The night when I arrived to see him, he was dying. I've asked one of the daughters to dial the number of his girlfriend and she was the one to bid him farewell, when he was taking his last breaths ( ok, I'm still crying even though it's been a few years back). True love lasts forever.

I once met a Swedish girl in a small town in Sweden whilst I was passing through. I was 20, she was 18. I was only supposed to be in the town overnight because snow had cancelled the last train to Stockholm but when I met her in a bar that night I ended up staying there for a couple of weeks. Eventually I had to leave and return home to continue my studies, I was only in Europe for a backpacking holiday and every place I'd planned to see after Sweden I ended up missing. That was nearly 20 years ago now. About 10 years ago I found her on social media and she has a family, so I never reached out. I still haven't gotten married - I guess every girl I met after her just didn't stack up. I didn't end up following the career path I studied for and am full of regret for not trying to make more of an effort to see her again earlier. Life's so short. If you ever meet that special someone, don't let them slip away. It's regret you'll live with your entire life.
I can relate to a somewhat similar experience that happened to me back in 1960. My friend and I had planned to stay overnight at a small hotel in the south of Spain, before going to Tangiers in North Africa the following day. However, during dinner in the hotel garden, I happened by coincidence to meet this lovely young lady, Pascale Parisot from Paris, France. She was 17 at the time. I myself was 18, with limited experience. So, instead of staying just overnight it became two weeks! (Un-)Fortunately, I had to go back to Sweden to attend The Swedish A.F. Military Basic Flying Training and I just couldn't skip that opportunity....... Pascale and I wrote a few letters later that year, but I was too busy with flying training. She was a beautiful young lady and I still think about her now and then.

My uncle fought in WWII. He died shortly after returning to America in 1945. His best friend who had fought with him in WWII him married his widow, my aunt. After my aunt died of cancer, he traveled back to France to find the love he had had before his marriage to my aunt. They found each other and were married. They lived many years together. Today they have both gone on to their eternal rewards. But, I always think of it as a true love story...

When he went back to France it was as an older man. He adopted and raised my cousin as his own. Nothing 'weird' here.

Just read a French article about it. When Robbins was a soldier he was looking for someone to do his laundry and Jeannine's mother was doing laundry work so that's how he met Jeannine. After 2 months he had to go to the frontline and never returned although they'd talked about possibly going together to America. Both married later on. French TV stations were looking for veterans because of the 75th anniversary of D-Day and stumbled upon Robbins who showed them a picture of his old flame. They did some research and found her residing in a retirement home. Robbins had to leave early after their meeting to attend the D-Day commemorations but apparently they want to see each other again. Robbins is reportedly 98, Jeannine is 94!

But even if he is much older, nowadays in western society that could be seen as a form of harrasment; i understand why we take measures of protection with this topic, but sometimes they are too extreme.
I once met a Swedish girl in a small town in Sweden whilst I was passing through. I was 20, she was 18. I was only supposed to be in the town overnight because snow had cancelled the last train to Stockholm but when I met her in a bar that night I ended up staying there for a couple of weeks. Eventually I had to leave and return home to continue my studies, I was only in Europe for a backpacking holiday and every place I'd planned to see after Sweden I ended up missing.
That was nearly 20 years ago now. About 10 years ago I found her on social media and she has a family, so I never reached out. I still haven't gotten married - I guess every girl I met after her just didn't stack up. I didn't end up following the career path I studied for and am full of regret for not trying to make more of an effort to see her again earlier.
Life's so short. If you ever meet that special someone, don't let them slip away. It's regret you'll live with your entire life.

I can relate to a somewhat similar experience that happened to me back in 1960. My friend and I had planned to stay overnight at a small hotel in the south of Spain, before going to Tangiers in North Africa the following day. However, during dinner in the hotel garden, I happened by coincidence to meet this lovely young lady, Pascale Parisot from Paris, France. She was 17 at the time. I myself was 18, with limited experience. So, instead of staying just overnight it became two weeks! (Un-)Fortunately, I had to go back to Sweden to attend The Swedish A.F. Military Basic Flying Training and I just couldn't skip that opportunity....... Pascale and I wrote a few letters later that year, but I was too busy with flying training. She was a beautiful young lady and I still think about her now and then.

My uncle fought in WWII. He died shortly after returning to America in 1945. His best friend who had fought with him in WWII him married his widow, my aunt. After my aunt died of cancer, he traveled back to France to find the love he had had before his marriage to my aunt. They found each other and were married. They lived many years together. Today they have both gone on to their eternal rewards. But, I always think of it as a true love story...
Isn't it a bit weird that his best friend went after his widow? Seems a bit disrespectful especially knowing he really loved another woman across the world. Maybe in that time it was more normal but hearing it now makes me really feel odd about that one.

When he went back to France it was as an older man. He adopted and raised my cousin as his own. Nothing 'weird' here.

Just read a French article about it. When Robbins was a soldier he was looking for someone to do his laundry and Jeannine's mother was doing laundry work so that's how he met Jeannine. After 2 months he had to go to the frontline and never returned although they'd talked about possibly going together to America. Both married later on.
French TV stations were looking for veterans because of the 75th anniversary of D-Day and stumbled upon Robbins who showed them a picture of his old flame. They did some research and found her residing in a retirement home. Robbins had to leave early after their meeting to attend the D-Day commemorations but apparently they want to see each other again. Robbins is reportedly 98, Jeannine is 94!
