    In this video I sit down with my buddy @RichWordsMusic as he talks me through the line of new Yamaha Revstar guitars. I've played a few of the old V1 Revstars but the newest bunch have yet to cross my path... until now.
    We did a first impressions video on Rich's channel (Linked above) where he got me to play each one for the first time on camera... but now we've doing a second impressions video and talking about what we like about each model.
    The Revstar range is broken up into 3 groups, Elements, Standard and Professional. The Elements model is a twin humbucker model and the other two tiers are available as Humbucker or P90.
    In the video the guitars are plugged into the Blackstar St James 6L6 which is running via the UA OX Box.
    Huge thanks to @EytschPi42 for once again having me along at 42 Gear Street. Don't forget to check out the hashtag #42GSFOUR to see all the content from everyone at the event!

    I have tried the Yamaha Revstar Element, it sounds great, the clean tone is perfect, and the drive sound is full, which you can hear each of the notes while you are playing. I love to purchase one of the Revstar either the Element or the Standard with the P90!!!

      The Revstar Element is an amazing guitar, considering its the "budget" model, even though it's not super cheap, it's got a lot of options. ti loved the sound of that, I was really surprised by the entire range and how much they offer!

      @@LeighFugeGuitarI think I've watched every Revstar Revue and most of the sites like the Element guitar over the standard. So you know which one I'm getting except they don't have flash green in the Element series but the red copper is tight. Thanks guys and Keep Rocking! I like your buddy Rich's channel, is that his name?

    Just ordered the Revstar Pro w/ P90s (sunburst) as a birthday-present-to-myself, for reasons similar to your video. I tend to like cleaner, more expressive tones (responsive to picking/fingering) and the extra hum shouldn't be a big problem in my home studio. This is a forever-guitar for me, so top-of-the-line is worth it.

    I just got the p90 standard and it is amazing. I had the old P 90 standard and I can tell you the updated features make a big difference in the resonance . The guitar sounds so much more balanced than the original. The pickups do sound very good, but to get rid of the hum, I ordered the new, Jared James Nichols, P90 silencer pickups from Seymour Duncan.

  • @nik1954

    I just ordered the standard p90s. I havent bought an electric guitar since 1976 (les paul custom) this guitar brought my GAS to s head.

    I have the blue standard with p90's and a 1st gen rs320 in "stock yellow" which is essentially the element. I usually play loud in headphones and find the p90's too sharp sounding on my ears. The standard weighs about a lb heavier than my rs320. Other than the standard having a satin finish on the back of the neck, I've not noticed any difference in neck size such as you described. Mine both came perfect. Great fret finish etc, however i did handle a new element in a store and felt some sharp fret ends. After experiencing my two, if there was a fire id be saving my rs320. I like its aggressive sound and frankly love the stock yellow (hate the new hazard yellow element color). The sunset fade is my fav of the new colors. I can't imagine spending an extra 1k for the pro. You are partly paying for it to sound played-in, which it will over time any way if you play it.
    I am not a fan of the racing stripes.
    The Element is an absolute bargain.

    Great work guys, I was looking at a PRS McCarty double cut and trying to figure between the two. I’ve but had my eye on the standard P90 model since they became available. But the stainless frets and all the features that the Yamaha offers just make it hard to pass. The versatility of the Yamaha seems to be superior that of the prs. And maybe the determining factor for me is that I want a guitar that can bark when rocking and then twang when in country mode. I just don’t think the prs could cover all that sonic territory. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated…Thanks again guys!

      Hey!
      I think the Revstar offers a lot of features for the money that give it an extra push over a lot of other guitars in the same price range. I’ve actually got my very own Revstar arriving with me next week. I’ve got the burgundy one from this video coming!
      They’re very versatile. They can do a lot across a range of genres. I think the only thing it might struggle with is going super high gain, but if you don’t do that then it’s no problem!
      The McCarty is also a killer guitar though!! Less versatile, but what they do is awesome

      That’s what i thought, all sounded horrible. I have heard them sound better in other vids and the st James amp has very sensitive tone controls, I don’t think they dialled it in well. 🤷

  • @njapostol

    Really disappointed with my standard P90 :( The frets are scratchy and there's a dead fret that's buzzing right in the middle of the neck. the fret ends are badly finished and sharp. The jack socket came already loose and one of the metal screw pots wasn't hammered into the body on the bridge. I'd had it on order for months and heard nothing but good things about them but I feel like they've rushed this last batch out to fill the demand. Really saddening. To top it off it's also very heavy and has a really fat neck so I don't know what these guys are talking about lol . I wish I'd got one when they first came out.

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I don't own a Revstar, so all I have to go off is the ones I used in this video at the event and they were solid and ready to go. I can't comment on Yamahas QC processes, but I suspect like with all companies there are occasional instances where something less than perfect slips through the net. What I'd suggest is contacting the retailer you bought it from and ask them to help resolve the issue, I'm sure they, and Yamaha, will be more than happy to help.
      Neck thickness is subjective, but the models in this video are certainly not huge necked guitars. The v1 Revstars had way fatter necks than the current line, so when we reference neck size, we aren't saying its a "thin" neck, we're just saying its "thinner" than the previous models.
      Hope that helps!

      @LeighFugeGuitar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really? That’s interesting, my experiences have been positive and I know loads of people who’ve loved theirs too. I wonder how 2 badly done ones slipped through because Yamaha are usually pretty consistent with QC

    I think Yamaha missed a huge sales opportunity by not offering the standard in the Gold. I'm sure they'll sell a lot more standards than professional and the gold top is easily one of the best looking Revstars. I would bet money that sales of the standard would have been even better if the old top was on offer. I'm still getting a sunburst but sadly I think they missed boosting sales. Beautiful guitars which sound really good.

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar  7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I thought it was a little odd that Gold was an exclusive colour for the top line series BUT it also makes sense in a way... they want that to be a premium model. I would have probably chosen a goldtop if it was in the Standard series too because that guitar was special!
