When a casual traveler, mid priced luggage makes sense. When I was traveling 60-100k miles a year high end luggage made more sense. I stopped using tumi when they dropped their lifetime warrantee, and so did many of the other frequent travelers. Tumi used to be half the bags up front, no longer.
Rimowa used to be a premium brand. Their cabin size was $800. LVMH bought Rimowa, and then increased the prices by almost 50%. Now it's a luxury brand.
I love mines. I travel a lot like 3-5x’s a week and one year I went through 5 suite cases. I bought this n been using it ever since. Also glides better then any other brand that includes carpet. It does turn heads for people that know what it is and yes it’s pricy but I have no regrets on mines at all. I’ve used samsonite, travel pro, monos just to name a few.
You don’t have to buy replacement parts. They have a worldwide network, you just take it in and they’ll fix it for life. It’s the kind of luggage you spend money on once.
ive bought and used monos hybrid and rimowa original aluminum versions of the cabin and trunk. monos $800 total vs rimowas $3700. and if you compare them in terms of look and constuction its a tie. both have good solid build and look really good. but in terms of functionality and internal layout such as compression panels monos wins hands down. monos just made thoughtful design for travelers to pack things. so my verdict, if you care about flexing that you have a rimowa then get a rimowa but if don't care about that and just want a quality good looking luggage get the monos. and if you worry about scratches and dents then get a luggage cover. cause whether rimowas or monos all luggage will scratch and scuff if you dont cover them and especially if you check them.
It's classic like raybans, or rolex. There's a reason why it's stuck around. It has history and is iconic. Plus it looks dope. I'm more a fan of the OG aluminum myself.
the aluminum is iconic. i tend to rock everything blacked out stealth as i travel. i will say the black version does scratch pretty easily but it doesn’t bother me as it kinda looks like a nice patina
The aluminum in black is the worst choice. 😬 It scratches so easily and looks horrible after a couple trips… I have the silver Classic Flight aluminum and a black Essential cabin and both aged nicely without looking beaten up.
@@franco9001 @franco9001 I see your point, but how many people buy these used cases at these prices? There are 1,200 Rimowa luggage cases on eBay right now, including 200 ones from the U.S. Doesn't sound very promising to me. The issue is not the price, but the way the used items look.
Like pretty much anything that is a consumable good lol. I can't think of anything else around that price mark that holds its value, if not appreciates over time.
@@richieewinns I’m not sure who you guys are trying to mislead but eBay is full of Rimowa cases that barely anyone buys. There are 1200 items as of today. Somehow I don’t see them being in high demand. Especially dented ones with rich travel history which means as few as one trip.
@@franco9001 You can ask a million bucks for your used dented scratched case which doesn’t mean people will pay you that much. I get it, we all want to justify our purchases but let’s be also fair to ourselves.

Everything has gone up 50% in the past few years though
It is still a premium brand? It just got the LVMH price hike as you see with pretty much every luxury brand they own, LV, Dior, Fendi, etc.

Planning on buying the the OG cabin+ in classic silver when I fly to Japan. You can save few hundred if you know where to look.

Great review. Now I understand the value.
Don’t see it keeping its price if you use it regularly as it becomes scratched
It will scratch and dent like any aluminum luggage at any price point. You are paying for the name, period.

It's barely an investment. You won't get anywhere close to what you paid for it in 10 years.
You will still get a large chunk back. The cabin classic resells used on eBay for $1100 to $1200 at auction.

OMG NOT A Supreme collaboration ! That will just cheapen the RImowa Brand... Supreme is garbage bought by and marketed to a bunch of Hype Beast !
