    I appreciate that you took the time to explain the reasoning to Android users. It is a bummer for me personally though as after extensively researching the endless options for electronic drum sets, I finally thought I had found my answer in either the Simmons SD1200 or SD1250. I hope they do eventually release an Android app.
    Keep doing your thing man, I appreciate it regardless of whether you rock Apple or Android!!!

      I’ve been told they’re working on it. I just don’t know when it’ll be released. With the time it’s taking I’m sure that my thinking as to why it’s taken so long is the reason. Android just makes it difficult for companies. My advice to them is to release a web based version of the app for android but I’m not on staff so I don’t get a say.

    Keith, Everything you say makes sense. I discovered you when trying to assemble a Simmons SD 350 kit. I understand why you like all things Apple instead of Android. I am just the opposite, disliking all things Apple, in favor of Android, Google and the other guys. In fact for years I have been using Blackberry Android phones because I like the real keyboard I also use a Samsung watch which shares data with Android phone similar to Apple watch but looks better. The reason I don't like Apple is because generally not only is their software proprietary their hardware is also. I used to be in charge of live presentations at a university where the presenters brought their own computers and had to output to projectors or monitors which connected with either VGA or HDMI cables. Apple devices need special adapters to connect. And all the connectors cost more. Other PCs (which used Windows OS or Linux OS) all connected directly with ports on their computers. I myself use a Chromebook laptop which uses Google Chrome OS. I have the Simmons SD 350 and hoping that I can some day use my Android/Chrome devices with the yet to be released Android ap. Thank you for all your research and candor answering questions. I have liked all your videos. Keep it up!

      Awesome and I see your point. I think people should use whatever works… android doesn’t work for my life/workflow. Especially doing music. PCs and android would drive me crazy. 😂

    Man!! I just got my SD1250 today (thanks FedEx for carrying it up the stairs). Cant wait to mess with everything on the app. You commented on my last question about a sort of "tutorial" for the app, and the timing is perfect. This SD1250 + app combo is so under the radar but I feel its so powerful. Thanks!

    Well thank you for sharing this information, I purchased the Simmons SD1250 last weekend and was really excited these edrums. However like you stated the app is what set's these drums separate and above the other's at this price point. So being Simmons has elected to exclude Android user's from experiencing the full potential of these edrums unless I'm willing to spend hundreds of dollars more to purchase a iOS device!?
    No deal Simmons Stupid move! My kit will be returned......
    Back to Alexis or Yamaha!

      @@KeithronPowell Mr. Powell, I did watch your entire video and my position is the same. Even the employees at the big box music store where I purchased the Simmon SD1250 were equally perplexed and disapointed that there wasn't an Android App available. They assumed that there was an Andriod app.
      Like you mentioned in your video the app gives the musician additional creative choices that appeal to the musican. Giving each of us the abilility to be fully authentic in our music with the instrument we using to create our sound. Bottom line here in my opinion is that choices are always better and to have that creative choice not available to Andriod users is a fail Simmon's unless you have iOS.

      @@mikesmith8056 I here you but… the Simmons module is much more user friendly than all the others… you can do all the same changes on the module.
      While it may seem they left out the Android as some malicious act I’m sure it wasn’t. And as I stated in the video it is coming. Not to mention the drum is much better than most but to each his own.

    Any update on the Android app? I've been researching electric kits for the last couple months and I like what I see with the sd1250. I don't have an iPhone or a an iPad, but my wife has an older MacBook. Would the MacBook work just as well? Maybe she'd let me borrow it...

    You seem like a really nice guy, but I don't need to know what your platform bias is or why. The fact is that supporting only iOS is a choice that eliminates a huge chunk (half?) of the potential customers for Simmons products. As far as I'm concerned, Simmons doesn't offer an app at all because I'm on Android. If Simmons wants to offer a product with an app, they need to be where I am. Just my two cents. Have a great day!

    • @KeithronPowell
      @KeithronPowell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow… that was so personal. 😂 I offered my opinion as to why and said I’m not sure I’m correct but the fact is… making an app for android is not easy and you can likely wind up with an app that doesn’t work properly or at all. Now, with that being said… in my opinion…. without the app the 1250 is still the best in its class. The app just makes it even better.
      I have the Alesis and it’s in a bag.L packed away.

    I want to start off by saying great video and good explanation.
    I understand where you are coming from but in my own opinion for a company as large as Simmons to not offer it to android is inexcusable. They are also missing a huge market. 70% of smartphone sales are Android. If people's phones are so old they can't update to be able to run the software properly is their own problem but to not offer the app at all is frustrating. I bought an SD600, the Bluetooth MIDI function was a big deciding factor. This is very disappointing. I should have done my homework better.

      I feel you bro… honestly though SIMMONS isn’t as large as you’d think. They’re owned by Guitar Center but that doesn’t make them a huge company… but I do feel you.

    Cop out. Let's look at the trend of mobile phones. The largest mobile carrier upgrades their customers every 2 years. So, to say that Simmons can't or won't develop an app for Android is the biggest fracking cowpie. BTW, there are over 100k software developers that make apps for Android every damn day, so what is your excuse?

    • @KeithronPowell
      @KeithronPowell  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Look at the date of this video…. The app is out now. Also, I didn’t. Say they said that… I said that was my speculation based on my experience with apps that don’t work right initially and have to be made to fit a fractured platform. It got tiring trying to accommodate it. Where as Apple is simple. Their users perform all updates almost immediately so it’s not multiple version of the software to consider.
      Anywho….. hate that you got so triggered… like I said look at the date and go check they released an app last year.

    My man just had a bad android dev. Android is much more versatile than Apple. I've been coding for 9 years and if you build an app using a base code of red hat Linux you'll never have an issue. Apple is based off of swift. Two totally different coding languages. Building something for Apple doesn't mean that you now have a baseline for Android platform coding.

    • @KeithronPowell
      @KeithronPowell  ปีที่แล้ว

      Explain why apps go to apple first and some not even?

    • @alexthurman7684
      @alexthurman7684 ปีที่แล้ว

      @KeithronPowell because the majority of mainstream media watchers are Apple users. Also Apple has a higher profit margin than Android. People who use Apple are using a more simplified version of an application which is easier to develop. That's why the majority of the devpool will focus on Apple first to see what their profit margin is. If it makes good profit and is popular then they will move onto making an Android version. But it makes no sense to do more work to make an application more versatile when you don't even know if it is going to be used commonly. I guess the simplified I'm saying that it makes more sense to make an easier application and send it to the Apple users first than to make a more expensive and more processed application and send it to the android users first.
      But the two different operating systems have nothing to do with each other. Apple has made it abundantly clear that they do not wish to collaborate with any other operating systems when it comes to software.

    • @KeithronPowell
      @KeithronPowell  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alexthurman7684 I don’t think that’s a truly accurate explanation. You’re making it seem like 1) making money is bad and 2) being easier to operate because it’s simpler is bad. All the while not mentioning the fragmentation of android, the 1000s of different screen sizes… bloat ware and open source making it more vulnerable to viruses. Let’s be honest… if I’m making an app and I have a choice to make more or less money… I’m taking more every time… if I can create an app and know it’ll work on all of their products without worrying about whether or not it’ll fit the screen size perfectly I’m choosing that platform every time. Also, don’t you think it’s a bit disingenuous to suggest that the apps are low grade or or less compacted, on iPhone and that’s a bad thing when the apps do the exact same thing on both products? The user doesn’t get a different experience. Fact is android has to have tons of Ram so do what iOS does with little. I’m not one to just dig android, although I’ll never own an android phone but let’s not pretend that because it’s more complicated to make on android makes it better. Let’s not pretend that the user is ignorant or less sophisticated because he/she is not on android. Let’s not… neither of us make money (I assume) from either platform. I just know that the app I created didn’t work on all versions of android and ran without issue on all versions of iOS.
