Masaru must be protected at all cost he cures my depression when I'm cooking and eating alone
Maybe it's just me or perhaps a western thing. But I sometimes enjoy seeing more friendly interactions during meals. Not quite like a family but perhaps like friends out drinking. I hope to see more scenes like this between Masaru and others every once in a while, as it is refreshing in a more kindred sense.
I hope this makes sense and not like I'm babbling stupidly.
this totally makes sense, don't worry. Masru just feels different when he's with his cameraman - he feels more sincere and not strained cheerful
I get it!!! I know you said less like family but this is like me and my siblings being idiots in the kitchen, or trying to bake cookies at a friends house. Its an element of fun to it you can’t get with parents involved.
Good company can make bad food taste good, bad company can make good food taste bad, but good company and good food is one of the best things in life
So what you’re saying is you want them to eat at a pub, get pissed and start a fight? 😂 isn’t that the “western” style
@GJ that sounds more European than American, in my opinion, but one could also say that's just a really bad and unhealthy friendship, which is more universal rather than Western. Oftentimes, when I see any meal/drinking type setting in Japanese media (especially between coworkers), it's more like a senpai/kohai or nomikai type of deal, which is very business centric and thus feels restrictive and forced at times. If not that, then it's more konpa, and I don't actually know enough about that subject (tho I hear it's pretty bad at times) to really give an actual informed opinion.
In the best of terms I feel like this is just really good friends having fun eating something. Which I can only compare to my pervious stance.
(This may have been a bit much cause read too deep but I'm also just trying to be respectful)

I think there was something wrong with the translation to English... when Masaru was eating the cheek meat, it translated to ... tastes like "horse" meat... is that what he said?
Yes, he really said it was like “house” meat.
I know there is a English saying “ I am so hungry that I can eat a horse”.
So it is no wonder that you think it may be wrong translation.
In some regions of Japan, people eat horse meat, but it’s not popular for all Japanese.
Horse meat is basically eaten raw as sashimi with soy sauce and “wasabi”, like fish.
It is not available everywhere in Japan because freshness is important,
but I have had it several times, and it is very tasty, with little fat, healthy and high in protein.

I love your videos. This one brought back so many memories. 15 years ago after landing from a long flight from the U.S. my friends in Qingdao took me for a meal of Tuna head. Your enthusiasm for food and seafood is inspiring.
I got to have a big tuna like this filleted at home just once. Incredible memory. The fish was huge and I ate the nakaochi raw with a spoon right from the fish. I wish I could experience it again, ten times over

I watch your channel often and today's video has me wishing I was a guest at your dinner table. I LOVE fresh tuna sashimi!! My mouth salivates wondering how my taste buds would so happy to taste all of the different cuts of meat from that tuna head. It really does look like Wagyu beef! I'd even try to eye balls even tho fish eyes don't look too appetizing to me.
