    Excellent video, I make this concept a living practice.....
    I have always had a bag of sorts where ever I have gone in life, Scouting, Military, Camping and Hiking and I can say one thing is that it has always and is always evolving, I'm always bouncing between gear, stoves and shelters and the reason being are temperature variations and seasons where I venture. Packs are as you said suited for skill level, I agree and also with personal preference and living practice.
    I pack mostly the same food items you have as well and have made it a continued study of four season foraging within my region.
    I have had that same thought of the fact that I would have to go extremely far away to be void of any man made shelters, nearby houses, farms, rural communities to be without shelter. Silver or other currency in my opinion would be a handy item here. I also think networking with folks is a great idea here as well, You can have friends and family in surrounding states that can help you.
    My vehicle (Full size pick up with a 6' capped bed) is a different story, since it goes where I always go it is by far my first source of survivability and sustainability. In it I maintain light and heat sources, first aid and trauma kits, hygiene items, clothing, Carhartt coat and bib overalls, cook kit with stove, other shelter, blankets, water and water treatment, temperature hardy shelf table food items for a family of 4 for 72 hours, protection, woods tools, rope, baofeng radios, antenna and accessories, maps and and of course an assortment of spare parts, recovery tools and equipment.
    I also maintain fuel levels as best as possible.
    Keep it going !!!

    Don't forget, boots if left in a vehicle through the summer, can delaminate. I found that out the hard way. Our summers in Alabama will destroy them.

    My thoughts on seat back organizers. They are handy, but a very visible target of opportunity for thieves who see all that gear hanging there. Good video, just my 2 cents on organizers.

      I agree. I've had my window broken because I had something similar in my car. I keep some gear on the floor of the backseat but cover it with black material. You won't be able to see it.

    Gotta love the Salomon boots, been wearing their shoes and boots for years. Only boots I can take outta the box and wear all day with no break in! Your mileage may vary.

    I use a 5.11 Nitro pack for my get home bag with a water bottle pouch added on one side and a holster for my Olight Warrior Mini. because I don't drive I wear it every time I go out to hop a city bus. I have hand warmers in there, a map of the city among other things

    Great Video, I need to invest more into small pouches to keep gear together better. I'm a firm believer that the more you know the less you carry, you are teaching as well as learning with these vids. Keep them coming.

    Im pretty sure im the only person who thinks differently about this stuff. I get it people like their gear but being within an hour drive from home, u dont need all that stuff, or at least i dont. That short of a trek im not stopping until i reach my family. In a shtf situation thats the only thing im thinking about. Im not stopping to purify water or make a fire, or sleep, im getting home to make sure everyone is ok. That being said, a pocket knife, my edc gun, a flashlight, a bottle of water or 2 and a few granola bars is all i would need to get there fast. I could run or jog easily with only that stuff.

    I believe having all that stuff you have.. I do have a vest. But since I can't buy plates I hid stuff where the plates go.. Our generation knows prepped. Younger need to be educated. But the cheap route I purchased tuna pouches and chicken pouches beef jerky a few oatmeal pouches..

    National Weather Service broadcasts current weather conditions and forecasts on VHF. Hopefully your GMRS radio can tune into them. I'm a ham and I think everyone should get their Technician license (or whatever is the equivalent in the country where they live) because that gives you privileges on VHF that includes APRS, which you can use to get location data for other operators and communicate by SMS (either direct radio-to-radio or through a gateway into the mobile phone system).

    I use my smallest, most beat up looking backpack. It is comfortable and does not look valuable .
    A lot of the " get home bags " I see look alike; military style , and everybody knows it will be stuffed to overflowing with valuables and a glock. I'm trying for a lower profile for my particular area.

    Looks like a viable get home bag to me. I use both a sling with basic items for 20 miles and a small pack that would get me thru 72 hrs roughly if I have to be more then 20 miles away. If I need to fly I put together gear in between the two that is TSA accepable

    Good video. I learned a lot. The problem is that it may start out withy getting home due to say an EMP but that can quickly change if riots start say. It may turn into a get out of Dodge situation. But your kit is up for it.

    Here’s my take on grey man… You will probably be a target just by having any kind of bag. If they suspect you have a weapon they may think twice about robbing you.

    • @donhames5492
      @donhames5492 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Face it, if the SHTF, anyone and everyone out and about will be a target, especially with any sort of backpack/sling bag, etc. People will be desperate and starving and the normal rules of society will not apply. Self-defense skills and weapons will be essential for survival in that situation.

    I can't speak for everyone that chooses to not dress appropriately for the weather but, I can speak for myself. I used to work on a commercial fishing boat in the Bering Sea. I'd spend half my work day. 8 hours in the freezer hold at -20 wearing a hoodie and jeans. The other eight hours, I worked in below thirty degree climate hating my hoodie because I was too warm. On my off time every so often, I'd be in the mood for a cigar and some fresh air while I contemplated my life choices. Pajamas and flip flops in well below zero weather. My working man's metabolism kept me plenty warm. Point being, you can't judge a book it's cover, you can't know where a man has been or what a man has done his life and you can't know his capabilities just by looking at him. At that point in my life, I was more prepared butt naked than most are all dressed up.

    Nice video. I like the new content! I'd probably be screwed if I had to get home. 20 miles from work. On foot. I'd be stopping a lot. 20 miles isn't that bad all in all. Especially since its mostly urban. But man it would suck

    Great point about gray man. In June of 2022, gray man is about "how you act", not about your clothing or bag. How you act or react is much more important to blending in.

    Good evening Sir! Like I said in your last video, I’m excited about this series. This topic truly differs from person to person, and based on so many different things. The big thing to remember is do what works for you.
    With all that said, I like your setup!! Thanks for sharing and my best to you and your family!

    8:49 ...I love my Solomons...I see alot of ThruHikers using these, and had to get me a pair....awesome purchase..never looked back .
    10:20 ...Yeah...i love car seat organizers...they are great for vertical storage in trucks.
    14:04 ...unfortunately ...I can't sacrifice my food prepping budget, for a $130cad Grayl stealth 16oz water filter. 4 Lifestraw for $60cad, is my option for now.
    QUESTION ?? ...with todays covid price hikes....how much $$$ would someone have to spend to get your exact gear..??
    $2000 or more ?

  • @twistedxvengeance

    I completely agree with what you said about 1St layer of edc is what you're wearing and to be dressed appropriately for the weather. Its even worse being an < 30 yo female. I see girls walking around in shorty shorts in 30 degree f weather in the Midwest in January. Makes no sense.

    In my opinion, I think your Condor pack looks “prepper”. It looks tactical. Not saying that makes it a bad choice. Just that my own, personal choice, would look more like just a generic day pack of non-military color. If I had your pack and I had to use it during SHTF, I’d remove all those patches off of it. Just my 2 cents.

  • @marksaint2936
    @marksaint2936 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm curious, how much does your pack weigh with the gear?

  • @col.callan7961
    @col.callan7961 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very informative, but my take on GHB is to look the absolute grey man. Use old clothes, and keep your tools close on you. Your country and immediate environment must determine your bag and personal content. I do believe that with military style clothes one will be perceived as a “ problem” by both friend and foe. A little bit of extra candy and water can easily be traded as well. I think that there is no better time now to get your bags in order.
