- This is professional grade equipment made in the USA. I wanted a bag that could serve as a Bug Out Bag and a Get Home Bag. I wanted it to sustain me for up to two weeks and come in under 25lbs with water. I met this criteria with the Mystery Ranch 3day Assault BVS. This will serve in a woodland and suburban environment.

Having an inflatable sleeping mat, or foam mat will let you have a more comfortable rest, if you ever have to use your emergency bag.
Good suggestion. I’m a bit old school and normally make a browse bed. Been doing that for decades.

I have a bivy sack, Snugpak jungle blanket xl, and a ThermaRest Z Lite foam pad, or sometimes i switch the foam pad to a self inflatable pad.
Hard to believe that is only 23 pounds. Love how the bag zips in the front. Great way to access something lower down without spilling out the rest.

I KEEP MY BUG OUT BAG FULLY LOADED , IN CASE I NEED TO BUG OUT IN A HURRY , BUT I CAN ALSO BREAK IT DOWN FOR SMALLR EXCURSIONS IF I HAVE THE TIME , PLUS I HAVE EXTRA SUPPLEMENT BAGS WITH MORE FOOD AND MORE CAMPING GEAR
I do much the same. I keep a food, fishing and trapping bag in my car. I also keep an additional two gallons of water. If it’s a dire situation and I have to bug out on foot, I have a game cart that will hold 350 lbs. if I have time I can load it with food, water and additional supplies.
No way that’s under 25lbs.

I have. This bag has remains the same. But because my situation changed, I made a long distance get home bag. I’m using a Mystery Ranch Raid LT 32. I’m making monthly trips of 240 miles one way. I needed a kit to cover me for that.
Very well rounded bag and supplies. I have the same katadyn water filter but I keep that in my house, a little to heavy for a backpack. That back up water filter you showed should be more then enough. Or maybe a sawyer water filter.
Thanks for stopping by and the suggestion. From experience, I will not trust a hollow fiber membrane filter. I like having a pump filter to reach difficult water and have 2 full bottles in 2 minutes.
@@surviveanything4765 I’m not that versed in water filters. The sawyer aren’t good filters ? I also have a cheaper katadyn, I think it’s the hiker ? What’s wrong with the sawyer ?
@@concernedpatriot.2221 they have hollow membranes that do the filtration. If they freeze the membranes burst. They are very fragile and can be compromised allowing the yuck to get through, next thing you know, your dealing with some mean monkey butt.

“If you want peace, prepare for war” love it! One thing I thought of is I’d make the poncho a bit more accessible if I were you. Although I don’t have the same bag and don’t know for sure how difficult it’d be to get to without taking everything out.

Good feedback. The bag unzips down the middle making it easy to access everything. We only get 18 inches of rain annually. Our wettest month is February, that’s why I have so much invested in water filtration.
Great kit top of the line stuff but I would add first aid extra clothes toilet paper a saw medication’s and a hygiene kit
Hello, thank you for stopping by. I have TP, medications and a hygiene kit. I also went in detail on my trauma kit and covered the first aid kit as well. I have a extra pair of merino wool socks, not worried clothes getting dirty.
IMO... A GHB (Get Home Bag) is lighter weight (20lbs max) than a BOB (Bug Out Bag)..My GHB has minimal EDC gear and 3 x resupply fully loaded Caches spots on my way home.

Hi Kanzee, yes, a GHB should be smaller, lighter and for a shorter period. I have a bag that lives in my car that is just under 20 lbs. this bag is designed to be a longer duration/distance bag. It can also serve as a BOB if needed.
This bag goes with me when I take a road trip that would be more than a 4 day walk.

Nice kit SA. One thing folks must keep in mind is a kit should have the same basic items across the board and then tailor the items to your own specific needs and geographic location. Thanks for sharing your setup. Hopefully folks without an emergency bag can use this video as a guideline to get started.
Nice kit, I chose to reduce camping equipment and add a change of clothes, a roll of quarters, clothe pins and food (MRE, or home built kit). It's actually an overnight bag with benefits.

I feel like everyone in the outdoor/survival/bugout genre got sucked into buying a bunch of super expensive gear that they really didn't need, and for a lot of them, won't use. Lots of good (even great) inexpensive gear out there, that'll work well for a bugout bag. To me, if you add up what you spend on your bugout bag and its contents, and it comes out to more than $500 or $600, you wasted a lot of money.
that said, your kit is good and will work. I just think you coulda make a kit with all those parts for a lot less money, and it'll work just as good.
So your argument is good (expensive) gear is bad and not needed, but bad (inexpensive) gear is good? What in my bag is unneeded?

@@surviveanything4765 no, that's you trying to put words in my mouth. I didn't say anything like that at all. I said that you can do the exact same stuff with less expensive gear. I can buy a 32 oz stainless steel water bottle for under $20. Or, I can buy an expensive name brand 32 oz stainless steel water bottle like a nalgene. Both do the exact same thing, and the name brand bottle won't last any longer than the inexpensive bottle.

Just curious, does your fire kit include matches and a lighter? Kind of hard to light a gas stove with a ferro rod and Fatwood.
Yes it has storm proof matches and a Bic. The Pocket Rocket is very easy to light with a ferro rod as well.

NICE PACK‼️‼️ Suggestions…..secure your water bottles to your pack…….and get everything in zip lock bags…2 big contractor trash bags…..and a pack rain fly…..foot powder and spare socks……all in zip lock bags..
Queens own. Good suggestions. Water bottles are dummy corded. We get very little rain here, but I have all water sensitive items in bags. I have a OPSEC poncho that doubles as a tarp. I carry body glide for chafing and my feet. Keep a pair of Darn Tuff Merino wool socks. Hooah!
