      WHO_TEE_WHO When you look through the barrel to bore sight in you turn the dials in the opposite way, but when you look through the scope to then actually sight it in while shooting turn the dials the way as indicated.
      Yes I know this sounds funny but that's how it works out. when looking threw a barrel to bore sight LOL
      Plus hit the top of the turret after every adjustment to make sure the cross hairs move.
      just a suggestion.

      THANK you SO much for making me laugh. There are some great gun channels out there, but not many of them are REAL LIFE. This is what happens to Real Guys all the time.

    When you bore sight it will appear to be backwards because your normally adjusting for bullets (up to go down) versus crosshairs (up to go up)

      knownknot I like both calibers but for white tails a .243 is my choice. Deer ain’t difficult animals to kill if you have any marksmanship skills at all. If I deer hunted in parts of the country that had potential man eaters roaming the woods I’d step up to the .270. That’s a no brainer. I don’t see it as one or the other. I love them both. It’s just that here in the Southeast where I hunt the .243 or 7mm-08 make more sense. With urban sprawl being what it is along the I-85 corridor here I can see the age of shotguns only coming within the next 25-30 years.

    You can't go wrong with either on deer brother. The .243 may not carry the same energy as the .270, but deer don't know the difference. In the past two seasons I've dropped 6 whitetail and 3 hogs with it. Only one ran more than twenty yards before dropping. The others drop were they stood. That was with 95 grain Federal Fusion. I prefer my .308, but feel pretty good running around the woods with a .243.

      I went through the expensive vs dime store scope experience myself and have had the best luck with Nikon ProStaff scopes. Not the most expensive out there, but they work great for me. An old man that worked at a reloading store I used to shop at said to me that the snipers in WWII had scopes that weren’t as good as the cheapest scopes around today, and they were successful. He told me to just pick a scope and get good shooting it. I took that advice and bought a few Nikons.

    Love the rifles, but one thing I've learned over the years is there are a lot of animals lost or wasted every year from not being precise enough on sight in and not buying quality optics. If you sight in at 25 yards you could be off inches at 100. If your optic fails due to being bumped or mishandled you could gut shoot the deer. Two inches high at 100 will have you hitting pretty well at out to 200. And buying better scopes (not saying you need zeiss or swarovski) is just much more ethical to me.

    • @WHOTEEWHO
      @WHOTEEWHO  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Where I hunt there are no shots beyond about 40 yds. 😃 I am dirt poor, and everything i own is "budget minded" ive never had any issues with my scopes - most ive ever paid for a scope is $50

    • @beardedrancher
      @beardedrancher 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Trust me when I say I understand. And if you're not shooting over 50 yards it is really unlikely that you'll wound anything. But if you ever go hunt somewhere that shots are far a leupold for 150 or 200 bucks might be worth considering. I get being budget minded, the most expensive scope I have was 300 bucks. It's a like a good guitar only sounds as good as the amp it's played through. A good rifle is only as good as the optic that's on it.

    If you’re off left when you adjust your crosshairs to go right the reticle should move left in the lense so that you will aim further right on the next shot.

    All scope dials come with an arrow indicator indicating ONE direction for adjustments so it might have an arrow indicating a clockwise direction for UP, that means an anti clockwise direction for DOWN, and the same for LEFT and RIGHT, other manufacturers might show an arrow indicating an anti clockwise for UP, so then it would be clockwise for DOWN, so check which way the arrow is indicating on your scopes.

    The same thing happened to me when I was sighting in my 25-06! I have a Nikon scope on it and the first adjustments for windage and elevation were backwards!! Up was down and down was up! So I made the adjustments that way and I was further away from the center of the target!! So I went back to make the adjustments the way it was indicated on the scope and I finally got the rifle zeroed in!!

  • @mikerowgo5681

    Chris miller is correct.
    The adjustment directions are for bullet impact not crosshair movement. The scope is labeled correctly. Example- move the horizontal down and bullet impact comes up.

    When you look through the barrel to bore sight in you turn the dials in the opposite way, but when you look through the scope to then actually sight it in while shooting turn the dials the way as indicated.
    Yes I know this sounds funny but that's how it works out. when looking threw a barrel to bore sight LOL
    Plus hit the top of the turret after every adjustment to make sure the cross hairs move.
    just a suggestion.

    • @smujohnson

      WHO_TEE_WHO yeah, perhaps a redo of the 270 vs 30-06 paper plate test, but use a 180 gr 30-06 bullet and a 150 gr (which you might have left over from the last video) 270 round. these will be closer as far as comparable weights to calibre size.

      Roberthurz , My friend (AVID HUNTER) Uses a 270 on everything in Alaska. From griz to rams. 200+++ shots. BUT, up close in a bear attack theyre useless w/o a brain shot. Kills the bear good enough but not before it gets you before dying. He also carries a short bbl shotgun w brenneke black magic slugs for UP CLOSE bear encounters on all his hunts because ALL of Alaska is "BEAR COUNTRY". Im Alaskan & I carry a 45/70. W flip up ramp sights can do 400 yd shots easy. Lotsa quick firepower w the lever guns too in a multiple bear attack situation.

    The .243 doesn't need the knock down power. It explodes on contact. Way bigger wound channel and you have to plan for that. I shoot the head shots with my .243 out to 200 yards. Very satisfiying to see a head explode through my scope after a slight delay.

    In the army ( Canadian) we shot 7.62\ 51 . My brother who hand loaded pulled some bullets , checked powder charge and said they were about max , replaced replaced bullets with 168 gr. hunting rounds , and they were hotter than my Remington's
