I know this is older but I just found this. Lifetime asthmatic here (45 years old, first attack at just weeks old) and I learned more watching this video than I have from any doctor I have seen. THANK YOU!!!!

awesome. try magnesium supplements too. usually too much calcium (found in cheese or milk products is not good). lastly, more water 8 cups on average daily.

@@claessorensson225 How are you feeling now? My friend had pneumonia less than 8 months ago - tested negative many times for covid19. She didn't go to Hospital for that but recovered at home. Right after the beginning of the year she got a terrible cold, she felt like she wanted to die she was so sick, turns put she had covid19 this time and pneumonia again. She was at the hospital for about three weeks and now she's in rehab and she still using oxygen. I hope she'll be okay her health is not the best.

I started this a few days ago. I have asthma and just recovered from covid. My Breathlessness was scary and had no energy for anything. My medication would not work. After only a couple of days I am so so much better thanks to these breathing exercises. Anyone considering this, do it. You will not regret it.

So good to hear this. I have asthma and recovering from covid and so very short of breathe. Did you continue to get better with the breathlessness after a couple of days of these exercises? It is so scary

    • @ald942
      @ald942 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@TheLisajoyce yes I did. I physically wrote out a list of a few breathing exercises and tried to do them throughout the day (3 times was probably the most I managed). Be patient and stick with it. When your well enough you can begin to challenge yourself more with short walks or small swim, whatever works for you. Definitely stay with your medication too. I think the combination of medicine and exercises complimented each other. Best of luck with it and just take it day by day. There is light at the end of the tunnel

Excellent to hear this. Traditionally I am a mouth breather, I have since had a septoplasty to correct a deviated septum. My nose airflow is greatly improved. However I still continue to mouth breath at night, it's almost the habit is so deeply ingrained. I will order the mouth tapes. What is your experience?

I cured myself of asthma 5 years ago. Buteyko works. I mostly just used (and continue to use) a simple exercise of 10 5-second breath holds, with 10-15 seconds of normal breathing. So simple. All medications stopped 5 years ago. I have 6 cats and had immunotherapy (allergy shots) for 5 years without establishing immunity. Buteyko provided me with not just an improvement, but a complete cure. I threw out my epipen (long expired) a few months ago! I’m adding the following: breath holds are always at the end of a normal exhalation. Always nose breathe! If you need to do the various nose unblocking methods that Patrick and others indicate.

Valorie mad That’s awesome that your Grandma is so active. Doing the breathing exercises also helps with concentration and awareness and focus on that you’re actually breathing. If that makes sense. I should do them more often but I usually try to remember to do the breathing exercises when I get in bed because I have adhd especially at bed time where I can not get my brain to focus on one thing at a time. So the breathing exercises helps with that as well as strengthening the lungs.

I have tried this today. I am 5 weeks into recovery from COVID-19 and although I experienced some breathlessness since the start it was just a week ago that I began to experience more I tense shortness of breath at night. I found other breathing exercises were putting too much pressure on my lungs and in turn I would experience palpitations which increased anxiety that comes with breathlessness. This was much more gentle and less forceful. I will try this again before I go to sleep, I'm hopeful this will help with my recovery.

I may Have COVID, it’s been a good few days now. Better in the daytime, worse at night. Nights are really hard. Feels awful. These breathing exorcises actually help restore breathing patterns and have helped me stay calm. I get much better oxygen feelings with this than trying to force air into my lungs. It actually has I,proved the tightness in my chest as well and I feel like this has been crucial to me getting better. Thank you so much. This is truly awful but luckily the respiratory stuff is the only symptom I have left. Everything else has improved. Good to know that there are people who really care in these hard times out there. Praise the Lord for all he has done to teach us and help is to Live through this. Thank you for your help. Stay well. God bless you!

I hear the hair loss from covid is only temporary and after a year you should be growing it back. I believe we are going to heal, even if it is slowly. This video is so helpful! I had COVID19 back in December 2019...I was VERY sick for 5 weeks (I had symptoms for 3 weeks before getting really really sick. Back them we didn’t even know that COVID-19 existed, I remember myself crying in bed... feeling like leaving this earth...not prepared to leave my dogs behind) . During the summer of 2020 my health was just fine, I had energy and for the first time since COVID-19, I had zero breathing problems. It is now fall of 2020 ...allergy season is here and I’m having some new allergy symptoms....one of them is that I’m finding myself out of breath. And that makes me feel heart palpitations. Heart palpitations make me anxious....anxiety doesn’t let me fall as sleep. I will be watching this video in it’s entirety.... and I will be practicing this breathing exercises.

This video mentions a lot of the stuff from that book but if you're looking for more information on these methods then definitely try out his book. I started taping my mouth again two years ago and it’s incredible how good it is for overall health and reduction of symptoms. I often try to tell people they should tape their mouth at night and they look at me as if I’m crazy so I can only imagine what you go through. Keep going getting this vital information out there! Hi Linda!
Thank you for replying to my comment about this remarkable man. He is truly an angel for us. He absolutely realizes that those of us with Covid-19 are in psychological panic mode, frightened and nervous especially if we are alone at home without any professional medical attention. That's why he is so repetitive. He drives it home to make sure we "get it".
In his video, he lovingly gives us the tools we need to be able to help ourselves.
He has made a very substantial contribution. If you're alone at home, it is important to monitor your vitals everyday. Like he mentions, see if you can find an oximeter. Try to find a blood pressure kit and a reliable thermometer. Record the readings in the morning when you wake up and in the evening. I hope for your speedy recovery.
      ❤️🙏🌹

Update 5/8: now able to hold for 20 seconds on a regular basis. Heading for 25... Also used the "unplug a plugged nostril" method from another OA video this morning when I woke up with a stuffy nose. Worked like a charm! Thanks.
Update 4/14: I've been doing the breathing exercises a couple of times a day and already increased my time to 20 seconds. Not every time I check it, but it has happened!
Original post 4/10: Wow. Thanks for this incredibly informative video. My chest has been tight with anxiety for the last 3 weeks. I'm not prone to anxiety / panic attacks, it's almost like the way you feel after trying not to cry for a long time. I tried the BOLT and could only get to 15 seconds without my throat tightening and my muscles trying to breathe. I do guided breathing exercises at least once a day. I don't feel that I'm breathless and I don't have any (known) respiratory issues, but I wake up with incredibly dry mouth some mornings - as in, my tongue is stuck to the roof of my mouth. This was an evening test. I'll try it in the morning, see if I get any closer to the 25 second mark.

@@scarred10 The point of breathing exercises is not to reduce the risk of getting the virus. It is to reinforce your lungs to increase vitality and capacity, and reduce the effects on your lungs. When things are getting iffy on breathing, you want every advantage you can get. Being in good shape lung-wise is a good measure. You would be surprised how many things we can do for ourselves, for our own health. Most don't take to self-responsibility, we've been trained otherwise and of course if you won't do for yourself, than you'd likely prefer to take the attitude you are showing. But why not reconsider and try? You might be glad if it's you that's needing oxygen to get through this or maybe not.

I had beginning COPD, unknown cause, several years ago; rx with Albuterol inhaler prn. I asked if I needed any Pulm classes & was told no. (Altho, I needed an inhalation treatment after my knee surgery in ‘08 & ‘19). I also have Chronic Rhinitis with lower nasal sinus swelling; rx with nasal spray Azelastine. I was trying the salt-inhaler for my lungs & the Neti-pot nasal rinses to clear sinuses. Always a mouth-breather!
THANK YOU for this breathing exercises video!

🌷When I was taking ‘black Seed oil’ (1Tbs+ p/day) for a bad cold, for the first time in 40 years my sinus’ were clear; I could breathe at night! (closed mouth:~)
It tastes horrific!... like paint thinner smells (only worse)
I withstood the taste using a bit of honey (touch the spoon into honey, then out- 1/8th tsp?) which cancels out the horrific taste... but I was ‘burping paint thinner’ for hours. (good thing I’m strong-willed, or maybe just crazy:~)
I was also taking Oreganol P73; that is amazing also!
Now, due to this awful pandemic, I’m starting to take both again...
along with vitamin D3, 13 grams of vitamin C, Zinc lozenges etc... and a sugar-free 😒... green diet. This virus is about your immune system...
I’m hoping to have cheesecake for my birthday in November! 🙂
‘Didn’t intend for this to be so wordy- sorry. Best of luck to you and yours 💚

I am practicing what you have taught us and am feeling less breathless in general. Worsening asthma this year has been scary, but knowing how to improve my breathing is very comforting. THANK YOU!

Thanks so much! Could you pls clarify with the slow breathing that you mentioned, first do i need to really maximise the lung with air, second do i need to hold that breath for some counts ( to allow more oxygen time to get to the blood) before exhaling?

Your breath carries your spirit.. re spira tion. Spire stands for spirit. You enter the world on an inhale and you leave on an exhale and in between those a whole life is lived. Breath work has the ability to change your life. You can release trauma through breath work. How amazing in a time where awareness is so needed, the issue we are facing is respiratory and as a result, people are drawn to breath work.
