Ahhhh sancocho! One tip: if you have the time you can grate part of the plátanos and make little balls with your hands and place them inside the sancocho, glorious 😍. Never forget to side your sancocho with a bit of white rice and avocado, and a drop or two of a spicy sauce like Tabasco or Siracha. And of course a Presidente beer "vestida de novia". Great recipe and kudos from Dominican Republic.

Saludos!!! Yes, I love it with rice, avocado, fresh lime, y tabasco. So so good!!! I have to try it with bollitos. I've actually never had it this way but I've seen other people do it.

You can also thicken the sancocho by using grated or mashed platanos like people do with roux. My mom almost always throws a few slices of bacon or scoops of bacon fat too.

I was in the military, got stationed in southern California. At times it seemed I was the only Dominican for hundreds of miles 😂. Anyways, I craved my mom's cooking all the time, the closest Dominican restaurant was in LA, two hours away. I started to watch youtube, and interrogating my mom on how to cook 😅. Made moro, chivo guisado, tostones, and of course sancocho, and pernil. Love channels like yours!

No lies detected!!! I made pernil for Christmas and my family SWORE my Dominican wife made it!!! We are Creole so some Dominican stuff is in our culture but different spices. But.. I get teary eyes when my wife wakes up and says it smells like her grandmas house when I cook. Best compliment yet!

It’s amazing how many foods are universal... I’m West African and this is a variation of what some countries call ‘yehbeh’... The only difference is some of the seasonings and the pork... But we literally add EVERY meat we can find, (yellow) plantain, and all the same starches... And we use that same BIG pot (the older, the better lol)... And it tastes AMAZING!!! Best food for a cold!

I made a freestyle sancocho the other day with just oxtail, it was delicious. My supermarket have terrible pumpkins out so I used butternut squash. And my sister brought home yellow plantain instead of green. But it had corn, cassava, eddoe, yams, thyme, wiri pepper(Guyanese hot pepper) and most of the other stuff you used. My West Indian family makes soup almost the same way.

Mi gente if you haven’t made this sancocho run! I was nervous to make this (my family is no longer here so I don’t have anyone that cooks real “Dominican”’food) so chef Zee is my familia! I made a huge pot but didn’t invite anyone over for fear it wouldn’t be good. But OMG it was amazing! Because I did this during Covid & didn’t think it was safe to have people inside, I called everyone & they were outside with their tubberware. They keep asking for me to make more 👍🏼

I made this soup yesterday exactly the way you did on your video....It was a big hit with my family. We have been eating it for 2 days so far. I made it with 3 meats instead of 7. Still, came out very delicious!

Love Love Love your video, the presentation, the clarity of instructions, no loud spanish music that prevents hearing you speak, and most of all , the recipe looks amazing. Thank you so much, P.S I love spanish music but there is a time and place for everything.

I'm so glad I have a Spanish store by me because you are correct.. you will NOT be able to find most of these roots in stores like walmart... maybe yucca and plantains but that's about it! Making this today

I love your videos, my mom would make sancocho, but she would always make it with just pork, And that’s how I make mine as well! As you said there are so many ways to make sancocho there isn’t a wrong or right way of making it, it’s all about your preference, however I am going to try making the way you made this one, by add different types of meats which I love ❤️ thank you for sharing. I love your energy!
