why would someone even like to travel on cruse ship which cannot even out defeat a regular businessman late for job? Every one says that its fun to travel on cruise ship. But i think its more fun to travel on prop planes because they fly on low altitude so that you can enjoy the view
To sum it up, it’s the density of the water that will always be bigger than the ship, unless there was a ship heavier than all the water in the world combined which is impossible, so the density of the water (mass) is bigger than the ship (mass) which is why it floats
I see what your trying to say. Density is relative to equal volume vs mass. Stones sink because for an equal volume the stone is more dense. Nothing to do with number of ships.
I’m an Engineer. You just need a heavy bottom and a light top. Been through rough weather as well when I was in the Navy on smaller ships. Cruise ships may roll but they can handle it.
I like ocean liners better. Sadly there's only 1 Ocean liner today that's currently active. The queen Mary 2. I get it though, most people prefer cruises where they can do round trips,(i.e. leaving Europe, then returning to Europe sometime later) where as ocean liners were specifically for getting passengers from point A to point B. (i.e. Europe to the US.)
Can you imagine a cruise ship saving your life by rescuing you and 3 weeks later you are at home enjoying the rest of your life and you get a bill in the mail for a full cruise price??

It would have been nice if you would have made comparisons (draft, beam, height, displacement) between modern cruise ships and the fast ocean liners of the past (Normandy, United States, Queen Mary, France). Ships that maintained high speed even in the stormy, winter, North Atlantic trade,.
Toddler level of mindset,,,, ew,, don't worry you will likely die because of driving up your own car or stung by a bee than die in a ship.... With that kind of mindset, when you know the fact that everything around you can be dangerous and deadly maybe you couldn't go outside your house to live your own life.....
Actualy rouge waves aren so much an issue, a rouge wave is defined as a wave that is 3 times the size of the avarage waves at the time.. things that are wave related and can be dangerous to large ships, synchronous rolling, an parametric rolling.. but the bridge officers are trained to deal with these things
Only reducing the CG wouldn’t be enough. What should be paid attention to is GM. If that’s positive obviously and big enough, it can not only save the vessels from capsizing but also reduce the rolling. Ideally, a ship should roll, provided that it’s not too stiff, otherwise the rolling period will be short and it will be jerky.
Let's be real, if a modern cruise ship were to hit an ice berg, it would be like: "'Tis but a scratch" Because the layer of the metal is pretty thick that an ice berg would sink instead of the ship
@@necessaryJustice_4allRogue waves is when two waves suddenly combine into one, where a rogue hole is when two troughs combines which causes a inverse wave, basically a valley u fall head first into
When I was on the queen Mary 2 we had to go through a storm with 40 foot waves (no exaggeration btw) and we were at the front and yes view was terrifying my dad got sea sick but I was ok we were at the front of the boat and saw us plowing through every wave in our path
Yeah in the Poseidon adventure the Rough wave was longer, also the the Rough wave also hit the Poseidon on its side, and capsizing the ship. And also i like the 1972 version better
If I remember correctly, the Poseidon story was inspired by a true event, when a rogue wave hit the Queen Mary I think. And did the Queen Mary think that day ? It did not 🙂 In the movie, the rogue wave, as you mention, is nearly as long as the ship, which is quite unusual.

Sry but Bs comment... It was human failure of maneuvering the ship in the right way. The Iceberg scraped open 5 compartments at the side of the titanic which led it to sink. Experts say if the captain just hit the iceberg face on like they do with giant waves, the ship would've survived.
Just me that thinks tipping would be fixed by big rings around the side? Cause it’s more weight a bit of a way far from the ship so it should be able to stand either way cause they’re is a hole between the things so the water would just fall through so it would also just sink only down I think
I've been in the crew areas of cruise ships, they have things like wings on them to keep them balanced. They have a brig also. I've seen the morgue, the bridge, and engine room

I shall not tell you
I’m from Palm Beach/Florida and I live like 10 minutes away from the beach.
I went on a cruise ship in the early 1970's and when in rough seas it would use stablsers to keep it from capsizing, they worked

Not the density but the airspace inside the ship that makes it float.

I have a question, is cruise ships dont flip, then, what in the world happend to costa concordia (which tipped over)
It took on water below the waterline. Since a lot of the damage was on one side of the ship, that side became heavier and finally tipped it over.
Its all because of human error, not because of mother nature or rough sea's..
