This is one of my absolute favorite patterns but I hate y-seams with a passion. Thank you so much!!! ❤️❤️❤️ I have both sizes of your ruler and will be making this quilt this week 😊
Thanks for this tutorial.. I love your ruler, (I have the small one) clipping off the tips really does make everything fit perfectly. Will add this to my “let’s try this” list for this summer
I totally love this quilt it looks so easy I have the ruler because I saw you make another quilt earlier in the year and I just haven’t used it yet and it’s just amazing how you show to use it looks so easy thank you so much for sharing ❣️✂️🪡🧵✂️❤️💕💓💗
I love this so much! The colors are perfect! I’m currently working on a QAYG hexagon quilt for my granddaughter and this would’ve been sooo much easier! You definitely have me questioning my decisions!😵💫😁 Thanks so much for sharing!
I've cut out 3 of your ribbon twist patterns. The first one was scrapy and thank goodness it was because I put it together incorrectly but it still turned out great. Anyway, I learned my lesson for the other two.😊
How beautiful! I've always been intimidated by the grandmother's flower garden quilt pattern and this makes it attainable. Love your patterns and your tutorials. Perfect for May Day, Thank you!
You can get nesting seams with these blocks if you press the seams to the side in alternating directions every other row. Sorry, I tried to explain that in the video, but maybe it didn't make as much sense coming out as it did in my head! Haha!
Love love love!!!! Thank you so much for the pattern!!! I made the pillow using similar fabrics because I loved the color palette so much. Now I will make the lap size using your kit. So excited!!!! My quilting, however, was not near as good as yours. Did you free motion? Rulers? Any hints?
I free motion everything... it does take some practice, but if you look close it is not perfect, so don't let your little imperfections bother you :) They won't be noticed by anyone else anyway!
Do you have a video or other tutorial of how you quilted it all together? I love the circles you can see on the pdf but am unsure how to replicate the effect! Thank you for a beautiful pattern
Hi Amber! I haven't done a video on this style of quilting. But I think it's called "Orange Peel" so maybe you can look that up and see if someone has done a tutorial. I hope that helps!
I did not! But I did lay two of the plaid strips right side together with their plaid lines in the same place and cut sets of trapezoids together to make each flower center... not too fussy!
Thank you for the free patterns and tutorial. I would love to do this and add applique butt'erflys and or ladybugs to add my own flare. What do you think?
@@kristamoser Thanks so much... it might have occurred to me if I'd gone to my cutting table and used my brain too, lol. Or followed you more diligently! What an easier method for making hexies!
I almost never starch until I am putting rows together... I do not pre wash though so there is still sizing left in the fabric. There is plenty of fabric if you want to spray starch ahead of time though!
As a righty I usually start at the left end of the strip and cut my way right. When I teach lefties in class I have them start at the right end and work their way left. The cuts are all done the same, you'll just hold the rotary cutter in your left hand.
There are not official markings for that size hexagon... but there are some unofficial ones! If you email me I will gladly mark them out for you! Kristamoser.com

@@kristamoser My goodness, THANK YOU🤗
So happy for a new video!!🎉 I appreciate the pressing tip. 😊 Nesting the seams really makes a difference, but sometimes I forget to consider it 😅
Those are the things that make the process so much easier... you just don't have to struggle to line anything up!
Beautiful presentation Krista!
Have been missing your videos😭
I need to do more! I know, I like doing them, I just don't know where the time goes :)

Beautiful quilt. Unusual to stitch together in that fashion. Better pay attention, or you will be ripping out some seams. Thank you for the pattern❤
You'll definitely want to use a design wall for this one :)
Very pretty! ❤

Hahaha! Thank you Lisa!
Thank you so much Krista for another wonderful quilt tutorial. Can you explain why you did not open your seams on this quilt?
You can get nesting seams with these blocks if you press the seams to the side in alternating directions every other row. Sorry, I tried to explain that in the video, but maybe it didn't make as much sense coming out as it did in my head! Haha!
Nice, great tips on those corners!
You won't regret that extra step!

Depending on which ruler you have, lol. I have both and hope everyone else does too.
Hahaha! Good girl ;)
I too have both sizes.
Of course, I have both. So many awesome rulers and templates. Ya just can't stop collecting them!😂❤
Gorgeous quilt! Will this work with jelly rolls?
@.36 she says 2.5 inch strips..Jelly Rolls ARE 2.5 in strips
@@UsernameUnkwn21 Thank you!
Yes! You'll need more than one strip of each color though... you only get 10 cuts per strip and you'll need 12 for each flower.
@@kristamoser Thank you Krista!
I love it❤ thanks so much! 🌸
You bet! I am happy to share!
Krista, did you fussy cut your center plaid pieces? I couldn’t tell they were pieced from first glance, since they were matched so precisely!
That would be so cute!! ❤️
I LOVE that idea!! I can just see it done, sooooo cute!
@@kristamoser thank you I will post photo when finished
Beautiful and easy! Is there a way to make smaller hexies?
Yes! I did this same design as a pillow blog about three weeks ago using 1 1/2" strips instead of 2 1/2"
@@kristamoser Thanks so much... it might have occurred to me if I'd gone to my cutting table and used my brain too, lol. Or followed you more diligently! What an easier method for making hexies!
Are these the same as a half hexi? I already have a half hexi ruler.
They sure are! A half hexi is a trapezoid and that is what you'll be cutting.
Winner!!!!!
Thank you Gail!
Perfect!
Thank you!
Do you recommend starching fabric first and if so is there enough in one kit for the flower patch lap quilt. TIA
I almost never starch until I am putting rows together... I do not pre wash though so there is still sizing left in the fabric. There is plenty of fabric if you want to spray starch ahead of time though!
Is there any instruction for left hand era to cut the pieces?
As a righty I usually start at the left end of the strip and cut my way right. When I teach lefties in class I have them start at the right end and work their way left. The cuts are all done the same, you'll just hold the rotary cutter in your left hand.
Can I make a full 5.5” hexagon with your big ruler, or just a4.5” or 8”? I can’t figure it out. 🤦🏻♀️
There are not official markings for that size hexagon... but there are some unofficial ones! If you email me I will gladly mark them out for you! Kristamoser.com
I just figured it out. Haha 🤦🏻♀️

Very cute, Krista! Did you fussy cut the plaids so the lined up in the centers? It looks like it. Any tips for that? Thanks.
I did not! But I did lay two of the plaid strips right side together with their plaid lines in the same place and cut sets of trapezoids together to make each flower center... not too fussy!
@@kristamoser sweet! Thanks for the tip!
Wouldn’t a half Henie work as well?
Peaches and green! Lol
Hahaha!
I meant half Hexie ruler..
I don't see why not! If you can use it to cut trapezoids that is all that is needed!
@@kristamoser
Great thank you love the quilt.
I plan to make one ❤
