      I bought my 011 because of your review. It replaced my Air 540. I am very happy with it for my gaming pc. I will look for this on sale on Newegg and get this one too. I can store it and buy my water cooling parts over time. It would make a great X570 build. Steve you do some of the best case reviews, thank you very much for all your hard work.

      Wish I would have waited a few months. While I'm mostly pleased with my O11 Dynamic, it has one unforgivable flaw, which this version addresses. There isn't enough of a gap between the floor of the case and the bottom edge of the mother board. I'm not able to mount a center bottom fan because of interference with the front panel USB 3.0 header plug.

    Tip for the bottom fan tray, if you run door sealing strip on the inside edge of the bottom of the tray, you get MUCH better airflow as the fans can no longer drag air through the holes in the sides of the tray which just recycles internal air. Not as much of an issue if you have a radiator on the bottom because the radiator covers most of the holes, though it still helps.

    4 years later and this case is still one of the most functional cases on the market, I kept it like I kept my Silverstone RV01. As I was building in it again today I realized how excellent the drive bays are, Lian Li should really get into NAS/Server cases because I would absolutely love a larger 011 XL with 6x 3.5" bays to build my NAS into. Only needing one Sata power for two drives and having the Sata cables attached to the drive bays is just excellent, only thing missing is the extra 2x drive bays which would finish my Raid 5 configuration.
    The Phanteks NV5 is a great case especially for being half the price of the 011 but the 3.5" drive door is absolutely terrible in comparison to the 011, I get most people buying these types of cases like the NV5 don't require mechanical drives but I do. Its so hard to find a case today that supports at least 4x 3.5" drives with 3x SSD's while supporting long GPU's and large tower coolers like the NHD15. I just wanted to show my appreciation for this amazing case.

    As an owner of the non XL 011 Dynamic and a non loop water cooler, I went a different route which arguably some may say is overkill.
    I decided to go with a "positive pressure" (to reduce the amount of dust collecting inside the case) and use nine, yes nine 120mm fans (3 with an AIO). I use 3 on the vertical side side as intake, along with 3 intake at the bottom. I use 3 fans with a 360mm radiator for the AOI used to cool the CPU as an exhaust out the top.
    Note this is an relatively expensive build as all fans are RGB as is the CPU block cooling the i9 9900k, motherboard, and the 2080TI. Yes somewhat of a light show but then it is an "aquarium" type case. Now I can't compare my results to yours as far as temperatures, but let's just say, even in the summer without my AC running, I have NEVER hit 80 C yet (believe 77 may have been the highest) on either the CPU or the GPU. I'm usually in the lower 70s.
    Thanks Steve for a great channel and keep up you great work, says this old guy 65+ and still gaming.

      What fans did you use? I just used the original dynamic in a custom Cyberpower build, and got 3 phanteks bottom intake and the Kracken x62 exhaust on the top. Keeps it fairly cool (upper 60s/mid 70s) on my 9700k/1660ti, but was thinking about upgrading the 3 "stock" fans and adding 3 fans - all RGB. Was having trouble finding RGB intake for the side/bottom.

    I have the O11 dynamic, and I see this case solved several issues that Steve didn’t mention for some reason. First, the O11 dynamic has *nowhere* to put a fan hub. The hard drive cages are nit made of solid material so you cannot magnet stick to them. There are no other choices. You have to just shove the fan hub in the case and hope you dint need to swap anything later on. This case solves this by making the back of the hard drive cages solid metal, so magnets can stick. Presumably. I havent tried it. The middle bar also appears to be large enough to stick to, whereas in the original it is too small and full of holes so the fanhub falls off. When I use the o11 I wondered why there isnt a top latch, the screws are totally unnecessary. It is nice to see them add that. My biggest problem with the o11 is the space between bottom fans and the motherboard. I cannot physically plug in the usb3 front headers because there is no space, and powerful people in the industry *cough, steve* are not pressuring companies to make front side 90 degree usb 3 connectors standard. I do not know if this case solved this issue, because Steve didn’t cover it.

    • @GamersNexus
      @GamersNexus  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      1. We don't use fan hubs and don't really like them, so not something we think about.
      2. We don't stick magnets to our hard drive cages...? Never heard of that as a use case. Also, for aluminum parts, you should probably know aluminum isn't magnetic. Super weird comment for you to make, especially since you then say "I dunno, I haven't tried it."
      3. We explicitly mentioned the space between the bottom, dude. Like two times.
      4. It's not our responsibility to push for changes you want. We don't really care about IO angle. You need to realize that we focus on one thing most, and that's performance. We almost never talk about IO. And if you're talking internal, that's something to demand of motherboard makers, not case makers. You are placing unfair expectations on us, especially since some of your demands are not universal truths but just preferences or very small tweaks. Also, this video is already 25 minutes long. A few of your things we actually did mention. Really bizarre comment, especially the magnet thing.

    • @emu071981
      @emu071981 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a 360x45mm radiator and ML-120 fans on the bottom of my o11 Dynamic and I pretty much need to remove the radiator if I need to do anything with the bottom few inches of my motherboard. With my old motherboard that had USB3.0 headers on the bottom of the motherboard, I had to buy a low profile extension cable to use the headers.
      As for fan controllers, I have a Corsair Commander Pro attached to my cable bar thing near the top, it sits there fine but does require me to put the bar in at the bottom, attach all the cables then screw it in. There is also a small issue of not having enough space for all the cabling in that area so I currently have the side panel off to prevent the cables rubbing up against the side mounted fans.
      I am seriously considering upgrading to the XL simply for the extra space that it has in it. I have heard that there is a included vertical mount for the GPU but Steve didn't mention anything about it so I am wondering if it is still included or not. :\
      Oh, another difference (if it is still there) is that the panels are made from aluminium in the XL while the original has steel panels which is one of the reasons for the extra cost.

    • @agenericaccount3935
      @agenericaccount3935 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My 011 build weighs 56 pounds. I absolutely prefer the positive lock in with the top panel screws and slider tabs. Without either of those lifting the case would just make the side panels slide up and break plastic quick releases. And then all my spaghetti would be spilled.

    • @Melthornal
      @Melthornal 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gamers Nexus Oh okay, so common use cases that 95% of people care about and look for in a review are somehow irrelevant in your mind? You have 9+ fans in the case, and having a fan hub to control them is ‘bizarre’? You make entire videos about whether a gpu performs better with a washer, but refuse to acknowledge that motherboard makers are building products where large numbers of features are physically impossible to use in many common use cases? That doesn’t make sense. The fan hubs can stick to the components in the case, but the case has too many holes for various reasons. Screw holes, gaps for cables, places for tie downs. There is nowhere to put the hub in the original o11 unless you have a significantly below average sized hub. Normal hubs just dint have space, and in a case with NINE FANS that is a legitimate concern. One that I wish reviewers had mentioned, and if I were on the market today I would expect reviewers to tell me about. Because it changes the way I view the case.

    I bought the Air version a while ago. It was about 140 euros, and it came with 2 fans.
    It's ah "well, thanks, but should I really thank you?" kind of thing. Since I wanted to overkill on the air flow department, I populated every spot that was available. And that's 2x80mm and 9x120mm (and the CPU AIO WC radiator takes the last spot for more 2x120mm). Excluding that last bit, the case with the fans was about the price of this case ("had" to buy 7x120mm). However, who buys this case has an open loop WC solution in mind. So, having fans included would just be something that they wouldnt use. I used the two included fans, but had to "hide" them, so they wouldnt mess with the case overall aesthetics. Because that's another thing people that buy these cases care about. It's not only about the performance, it's how it looks. Having two miss matched fans staring down on you is just... an eye sore.

    You guys really need to add a watercooled test setup, AND start testing cases with their MAXIMUM fan capacity in addition to the standard test! It seems such an obvious oversight.
    What makes a great case isn't just how well it performs with X number of fans. It's also *how many fans* it can hold. That's how we improve cases in leaps and bounds - more fans, more unobstructed airflow.
    Both tests are important, so please do both!

    • @haziqtheunique
      @haziqtheunique 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem with this suggestion is that watercooling is still a bit prohibitively expensive in comparison to air cooling. Even most garbage systems from OEM's & SI's are going to come with a few fans included in the build, so it's easier to test for cooling scenarios 99% of consumers will experience. The only difference, of course, is the kind of fans GN uses.
      Not only is watercooling not really a standardized, affordable method of cooling compared to fans... but also, where do you even start? You have AIO's, the most affordable of which are the 120mm variants that are basically useless with high-end parts. And the prices only increase as you go up in radiator size & subsequent fan increase. And if you go full-on liquid reservoir cooling with custom waterblocks & pumps, the prices jump up even more. The vast majority of consumers will never utilize liquid cooling, so it doesn't make much sense to test it as a standardized cooling configuration.
      GN's current method is the best: test the AIO's they are interested in as their own separate pieces, and leaving custom loops out of the picture entirely.

    Best pc case I ever owned performance/looks wise... I have a deepcool assassin III in it and I got a non modular psu, cable management was a breeze I can leave all fans on 40-50% on summer even while gaming (3x 120mm sidem 2x140mm bottomm 1x120mm rear, 140mm exhaust top) putting on full only lowers the cpu temps by 1c and there's lot of noise... I almost get no dust inside the case at 40%, the filters plus how it's over an inch off the ground helps a lot. You can get so much intake in that even budget fans could do the job well at lower db so yeah it is great even for air cooling.

    The one thing that stands out and should be mentioned moore often regarding Lian Li's cases is this: Do not use the stock magnetic air filters. They're really restricting with airflow. The bottom airfilter which is a more traditional mesh style isn't so restricting and can be used but the sides and top magnetic filters are chocking the internal hardware. I removed the stock filters and kept my fans at their same settings and my temps dropped 12c. Lian Li.... You can do better. And yes, remove the one for the power supply as well... that thing needs good airflow too. If you're like me and clean the inside of your case often (every two weeks for me and I don't have a lot of dust where I live) then you needn't worry about dust buildup at all.

      XFX 5700, XFX Merc 310 7900XTX, Ryzen 5900.
      Stress test - Phoenix Miner running ETC, total 300-320W from 2 GPUs. CPU mining Raptoreum on 12cores, putting out 100W, 2 sticks of Gigabyte PCIe Gen 4 NVME 7000Mb/s both needing heatsink passive cooling on the mobo.
      After 8 hours of stress test, ambient temp is about 28-30C, inside temp around 46-50C. I can't remember the fan speeds, probably near the P12 max RPM. GPUs are 55-57C, CPU (4.4Ghz) about 70C. The Lian Li case is noticeably warm to touch!
      Noise level? Definitely noticeable!
      Gaming test, Radeon 5700 mining and 7900XTX playing Cyperpunk 2077, the fan also ramps up coz the 7900XTX is pulling 385W but the noise mostly comes from the fans on the Cosair H100i screaming at 2500rpm. Gaming workload ebbs and flows. Average heat output isn't that bad.
      Conclusion, I love this case! The only downside is the need to clean the mesh filters every 3 months. I only use these mesh filters on the intake vents, so bottom and side panels. There's no point to use mesh on the outlet vents on top since I run my rig 24/7.

    CPU: 5600X OC'D to 4.75GHz @1.28V
    GPU: 5600XT (wanted a 6800XT but Covid sucks)
    Mobo: MSI X-570 Tomahawk wifi
    Ram: Gskill Trident Z NEO 3600MHz 16-19-19-39
    Fans: 9x Coolermaster MF 120 ARGB
    PSU: EVGA G2 1300W Gold (yeah its overkill but was leftover from previous build)

      Your build is very nice, I am planning a similar build and looked at all the parts you're using but ended up with a slightly different build.
      Case: O11D XL
      CPU: 5600X
      GPU: 3080 (But waiting for it to come in stock, using my old card until then)
      Mobo: Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE (Still kind of undecided on this one, my second option would be the one you're using)
      Ram: Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO C18 AMD Ryzen 18-22-22-42 (Seen the RAM you were using but it was too expensive for me)
      Fans: Lian Li UNI FAN SL120 RGB
      PSU: Corsair RM750x 750W Gold
      What do you think about the motherboard so far? I heard a lot of people being angry with Gigabyte's RGB software so feeling kind of unsure about the motherboard

    The only issue I've had with this case so far is that the hot swap bays are totally enclosed and the drives get really hot. Mine were 51c and 53c. I had to velcro a fan to the back of the case, which dropped temps by 12c. They should've at least cut out one side of the bays for ventilation. Would also be nice to mount a fan there. Weird design flaw considering how well-engineered the rest of the case is.

      Oh thank god i thought I was just having an issue with my hard drive. I got a new WD Black 6tb and it hit 60C after an hour of transferring 1tb of data. It might not help that I have my side fans as exhaust either though. Do you have pics of how you mounted your fans to the hard drive enclosure?

    I understand the testing methodology in terms of consistency and relative comparisons to other cases, but if you are using 3 fans in this case you are doing it wrong. I have 9x120mm in my standard 011 Dynamic along with a 360mm AIO, works like a charm, cool and quiet.

      If they released a "dynamic" version of that, then I'd be all for it.

    I love Gamers Nexus’ methods of testing thermals and performance on pretty much every component they test. Thank you guys. Big fan. In this video, I found myself thinking that I would love if they added one more test category to the results of each case test suite: Best enthusiast configuration, or Maximum performance configuration. As an enthusiast I’m going to replace fans and try to maximize the cases performance. Stock configuration doesn’t apply to the way I build, though I see the value in testing that way for comparison purposes. I’d love to see that on case builds. Ps. I do realize that could potentially add a lot of time to testing, but a man can dream.

      In Germany currently costs €125. The XL ''ROG'' will be over €200.
      I dont think the XL version costs them too much to produce to justify its price of $200. Its just the branding in the particular case. The realistic price should be $160 up to $180 at best.

    I think its funny that hw talks about the engendering over aesthetics approach that was taken in designing the case but I honestly feel like its one of the cleanest looking cases out there. I do get the bit about a lot of the "glass and metal boxes" out there traditionally not preforming well and at least this one does. The only thing I find kind of bizarre is that the 011 dynamic doesn't support a back fan and I'm glad to see a spot for one on the 011 dynamic xl. Honestly overall I think there's a lot of cool ideas in the variations of this particular series of cases (011 mini / dynamic / dynamic xl) that I kind of whish would just get combined into one case. Like how is it that the o11 mini has back support for a fan but the 011 dynamic doesn't? Couldn't they have just made the case slightly wider? I mean I guess the reason why was to include support for larger form factor psu's, as the mini only allows for sfx psu's if I'm not mistaken.
    I think my issue is that these cases are so close to checking all the boxes but each version just has somethign about it that I feel annoys me. I love the idea of the mini but I don't want to buy a new sfx psu and possibly a new itx mobo instead of the atx I'm currently using. Using the atx cuts down on radiator support at the top and bottom of the case. On the other hand the xl is just well kind of large for my needs and even though it does come with some nice bells and whistles.... I cant help but feel like I'm over paying for space I don't really need, but at least it has support for a 120mm back fan...
    Maybe gamers nexus should just get together and go through all their case data and design the perfect metal and glass box. I'd buy it.
