The engineering and decision making that goes into these cases must be insane, especially given that you can invert the whole thing!! Pretty mind blowing
Great review, very informative. The inability to customize the PSU and HDD cage location in the rear chamber is rather disappointing, but nearly everything else looks very well designed.
I didn't understand half the things you said because I'm a noob that's too scared to watercolor, but it was a great in depth video. always love watching your videos! thank you!
Not personally a fan of "fish tank" cases, but wow that's a nice looking case! Lian Li keeps knocking it out of the park. On that chamfered corner, could just paint the edge white. Might still look slightly strange, but at least it wouldn't be blue/green. Edit: Well, using blue/green lighting and fluid definitely was a creative way to take attention away from that glass edge! Genius!
Arguably the best front I/O on any case right now. I know you can bump up the standard EVO with an optional module to 4 type A's and that's prob what I would do since the XL is more than I need.
The only thing that I would have changed is the fan support. The case supports 9x140 but only a 120 on the rear. Maybe is only my OCD, but at this point a rear 140 would have been visually better in my opinion.
Not even that, but if you were going to do 120mm on the back, than make it so you could fit 2 120's in the lower and middle positions. It looks so weird in middle with 1 120mm, and all that empty space you just can barely not fit the 2nd one.
Incredible review, was really helpful to see in a very practical way "how much radiator" this case can really fit. 3x420s is supported on paper wasn't sure it could actually be done!
I had the normal one and also the XL and Im now proud owner of de 3000 plus case. But I do still love those Dynamic cases, they are only to small for me now :P
Very informative review for this case and an awesome build with it too! Question: I got an idea for a black and white custom loop build, which the quick scene at 12:51 only reinforced :) This specific Lian Li O11D Evo XL case but in Black variant, black mobo, black rads - those form the "foundation". Then every other "secondary" piece connected to them , come in white or acrylic: - white fans all around, like Lian LI Infinity 140mm ARGB fans, - white or acrylic CPU block - graphics card with an all acrylic block and active back plate, - white RAM sticks, - white tube fittings, - trans-lucid satin tubes, - clear liquid or that milky mystic fog liquid from EK. - acrilic distro plate or flat pump+reservoir combo. - white or black+white custom cables. They will all stand out, pop, against the black background, especially with properly chosen LED lighting for the fans. Any chance you can do a similar build like this in the near future? With whatever components and case you can use, just to follow the same basic idea. I know it's a big ask but, aside from being incredibly useful to me and anyone else that fancies the B&W idea, it may end up being a cool and somewhat rare build to show off. Thank you!
Somehow I just found you and your builds/reviews, but goodness... BRILLIANT! I hope you could indulge me on just a couple of technical questions. 1. Do you find a cooling performance different with systems this powerful in a 2 vs 3 radiator setup, or is it just how you like to fill up the volume of the case? 2. Is there a reason you didn't use a 360 size radiator on the side so you didn't have to fiddle with a custom convert bracket? 3. I am having difficulty understanding the tube routing for that 3rd/side radiator. How did you do that? 4. What is the purpose of the soft tubing run that goes into the back side of the case? Where does that come from and go to and why? 5. Where have you situated the drain? Does it drain well? 6. In the past I have had terrible experience with dyed/colored coolant. Have you found that the newer formulas are more forgiving and easier to clean? Thank you SO MUCH for this review and build! You have given me so many ideas to work with.
Flawless review as usual Stuart! On a totally unrelated note I've watched your V3000+ review so many times I almost know it by heart, it's probably gonna replace my 1000D as it seems to have a much better space management and customizability! :D

Great build as always - just can never get enough of your them, they're stunning! I have a question regarding the pump res combo, as I'm thinking of buying the same. In the manual, it shows the dedicated inlet just right of the actual inlet your using. Can I just clarify if you can use any of the fill ports for inlet? I'd like to possibly use one of the fill ports at the top.
Thank you for this informative video. I would appreciate any additional comments from you or from viewers on using this case with the ASUS W790E SAGE SE motherboard. I am pleased you showed one in the case in this video, but I am uncertain as to the impact of being unable to secure the right edge of the board. I currently have a CEB sized board in the older XL model of this case. At the time I purchased that, Lian Li also offered an optional accessory to support full SSI-EEB motherboards in the original XL case. It looks like they are not doing that with this case. It's a shame as I think the W790E board has a real following and case options are limited.
The perfect case doesnt exist... @.@ What a awesome build. On my opinion, I think the oversized radiator take much space from clear view about the "all", and its fun how every 4090 blocked look as a baby gpu, i prefer the "old horizontal bracket style" fliped with a that way you can see by the window the beatifull acrylic job on the block, otherside the AC pump/reservoir is wonderfull, maybe on the future a distroplate frontal or change by the "3rd" radiator byside. Congratz to you for a brilliant review and build, and LIAN Li for the amazing effort on this case.
it is a great case and nice design. I just set up this case with a MSI 4090 Suprim, but it's really hard not to bend the 12VHPWR cable when closing the glass.
I have watched this several times yet I remain unclear of two dimensions on the vertical space for radiators. What is the depth of the reversible mount? If I push with a 1" / 25mm fan, will a 420 radiator clear the inner lip of the case. I understand the clearance at top and bottom. But I am thinking of chassis punching a hole under the drain on the radiator so that I can remove the dust screen to access it from outside the case. I don't think push-pull are functionally more productive especially since it will cost another inch. Yes the static pressure is greater as you increase the depth of the radiator, however, 10fpi is not a high loss configuration. 18 or 12fpi are more efficient but also have more drop. For extremely thick radiators, push-pull can make more difference -- and yet, you lose an inch (and the volume of water that goes with it). To go along with a deep rad, it may block removal of the trays. For me, I think that's less of an issue as I have never had a case with removable trays. I could be underestimating it however.
Would have been nice to have an option for icydock type hot swap drive bays where they had the hard drive bays,, seems they could have just flipped them around to 180 degrees.. that being said this case does have some nice details .. ( Thanks for all the time spent on this video )
I’m eagerly waiting to try Evo XL as a possible upsize from my trusty Mini, due to 420 support. I think that might be the only reason to go for this jump, if I want 420 without MoRA 😂
upright mount the strix is so cool, look forward for a white upright build. Guess most pp looking forward this case is for upright mount the 40series gpu
EK makes white 420mm rads IIRC, but they are quite tall (but the cap ports are recessed, so it might be ok). Watercool just came out with white 420mm rads but only 30mm thick. So it's a bit tricky if you want to do an all white custom loop in a white EVO XL.
@@GGFEvents Good to know. I have yet to see their white rads IRL. It looks like the EVO is a cool white. Luckily the EK (and Watercool) rads are easy to paint as you can just take the side panels off).
The price really shouldn’t give too much pause. Whether you are building modestly now or not, this case can easily last you multiple build upgrades. Especially considering the size, this is a case for someone that is going aio/fan airflow heavy or water loops and not someone putting a simple pc together.
I would jump on a case like this if there was a 140mm version of the T30 or NF-A12x25. As it stands right now the performance of 120mm fans is just so much better than 140mm fans for radiators that the extra performance of the larger rads is significantly reduced due to the lower performing fans on the market. I do think that going for a 140mm rad is going to be a net positive on your performance but it isn't as much better than 120mm than it could be, which is disappointing.
amazing case and amazing review, there's so much work in this 50min video :o And thanks for the error checking, thanks to you we have a better case (one that does not sequestrate GPU lol) I was wondering, are you going to review the Dark Base Pro 901 ?
@@GGFEvents The 800DX looks like an amazing case, can't wait for the review :D I'm asking about the darb base 901 because I think it might just be able to fit a Hardware Labs Black Ice 420 GTS at the front, a Hardware Labs Black Ice 420 GTX at the top, and a Hardware Labs Black Ice 360 GTS on the rear mount. I have the original dark base pro 900 with a 420 GTS and a 360 GTX and I hope the 901 has the space need for 2x420 and 1x360 🤞
Hello, hope you are well, Amazing review, thanks, I was looking for that before buying the Lian Li evo XL. the only issue is about the rear fan, why dont they put a 140 mm fan ? But everything else is awesome.
As always, perfect review, fantastic ❤ Pls, is there a choice of front mesh panel/kit? Same as on LianLi o11 Dynamic Evo? Have Dynamic Evo with mesh (and many external and internal radiators :) ) and its great choise... so its mandatory for me to have a mesh kit with dynamic evo XL, its perfect choise... thank you very much for response 😊 BB
I got the new EK front distro for my XL. I really want the EVO XL but after spending all that money for the distro, makes me re-think getting it. I wonder if i could mod it to fit?
Best review I have seen so far, first one to go really in depth on the 420 radiatior support which is why I am considering this case. Can I ask if there are any other cases you would recommend for a customer loop with 420 radiatior support? I am looking to do a build with all 140mm fans to keep noise low. Looked at the EVO XL and Tower 900 so far but still looking around.
Hello, I just subscribed to your channel. I have to say, this was an incredible review, love the set up. I have already bought this case prior to watching this review and it will be here in a few days, however. I went black. My previous case was an 011 Dynamic XL ROG edition, very good case. I have a few questions that you didnt make any mention to: First, what did the system cost in total? Could you break down what the items cost at the time of the build? Also, Lian Li offers a front fan mounting kit with a mesh front panel, which I also bought. Have you tried this? My final question, is there much advantage over AIO, vs this set up? Thank you
Best video of this case on TH-cam. Very thorough and well put together. Question, on that Alphacool CPU block, would the spacing on the ports allow for EK Quantum Torque fittings? Like the thick extensions and 16mm hard tubing fittings?
@@GGFEvents If your able to and don't mind that would be great! Or if you have some Torque extensions and a 16mm HDC fittings and see if they fit side by side, that would be awesome! I have the same motherboard and I had an EK Velocity2 block Cerakoted to match the Z790 Apex, didn't match the way I wanted. Also have a Velocity2 in Satin Titanium. That is pretty close but not quite either. Seeing the Silver Core 1 in your video that looks like a great match. But not if I can't even fit the fittings on the hole spacing LOL.
@@GGFEvents I ended up buying a Core 1 Aurora silver to check myself. Can confirm EK 16mm Torque HDC fittings fit just fine. Probably a bit tighter them others, but perfectly fine.
I'm getting ready for a full upgrade, but wanted to know how much clearance is there between the vertical mounted GPU and MB @ 19:50 mark? Would the Asus Crosshair Impact Daughterboard have enough space to fit in between, or am i looking at inserting the GPU in it's traditional position? Currently using a 3080FE with EK FE block
hmm, wonder if some silver auto pin strip or any color for that matter would cover the edge of the glass and look okay if a person wanted to change the color scheme.
Having a hard time deciding between this and the V3000+. :( I wish there was something in-between with 480 rad support. Rough decision. Leaning toward the V3000+, it's super sized. :)
Hi, thanks for the video. Since your radiator is 468mm and the space is 464mm, you use the fan trick to put it outside of the "frame". What would be the clearance if fully outside of that frame in mm? Asking because I have a 420 surface cross flow that' 479mm. I'm alsow wondering if this would fit top/bottom. Thanks a lot !
Lots of thanks for such a detailed review! I was eagerly waiting for this. Unfortunately, it's definitely not for me. I'll be sticking with my haf700 the berserker. 5 rads, including a 400mm (overkill? Nah, just super quiet no matter how hot the GPU is). I was hoping to see a roomy case for 4x360 rads, not 3x360 (where's front rad? front rad mount? front mesh panel? front res mount, maybe? or should I stick a 240mm flat res in the back?). 3x360 is what one can do in a lot of cases today (phanteks enthoo pro2 can do a single 480 and 3x360, for example). Also, adding a 4th rad will probably give better cooling than increasing radiator size to 60mm (unless you do 3x360x60 in push-pull, then it will be similar). If we're going purely for looks, this is fantastic, no complaints here. Especially the removable column. Looks awesome. Again, thanks for this treasure trove of info, much appreciated!
Thanks for the very informative video on this crazy case)) I own today the first O11 that came back in a days, the Lian Li O11 Dynamic Black, and i like a lot this case, but i found myself that i will build for myself completely new system in this year (2024), i think when 15 gen intel cpu will come out. And i am starting to think now what and how i will be happy to see in my future new build, and the picture is starting to show in my head... I do not want to deal with custom water cooling, but i do want AIO like i did for the last 8 years, but in new system i want the 420mm instead of 360mm something like the Arctic Liquid Freezer III 420 with the big radiator (38mm) and push-pull config. As well i want to see in my future build 140mm fans all over the case instead of 120mm, and i want to see that i will able to install in the clasic way (horizontal) my giant RTX 4090 in the new case that will allow to do that without any tricks, like in the clasic O11 Dynamic i was needed to do, with some adapters and such, because the side glass panel just can not be closed... So i don't know, maybe i'm a bit crazy, but i think that for my future new build, i will buy this O11 EVO XL Case, and yes, this will be for most some standard build, just with 420 AIO with 100mm thickness (30mm fans, 40mm rad. and again 30mm fans, again - Arctic Liquid Freezer III 420), giant RTX 4090 installed horizontally as i like, and all other case fans are 140mm instead of 120mm. So how do you think, build like this can justify the purchase of this Lian Li O11 EVO XL?
No comparisons to the original o11 XL??? Please can you do a comparison of these. I have the original xl and there are shortcomings, especially the ventilation holes which are more metal then hole. Is this worth the upgrade or look outside of lianli??
Im gonna buy this pc case as quickly as possible in Europe! Except this really thick radiators it's my dream build! What coolant do You use? Is this something premixed or Yours custom? Edit: Ok found Your answer to comment below.

Fantastic and thank you. Maybe in the future. Currently working on the Shadow base 800
The price really shouldn’t give too much pause. Whether you are building modestly now or not, this case can easily last you multiple build upgrades. Especially considering the size, this is a case for someone that is going aio/fan airflow heavy or water loops and not someone putting a simple pc together.
We need amazing build in the case
Great in depth review, my o11 xl might be due a replacement!
Question: What fluid did you use in the white lian li build?
Great work! Love that THICC radiator!(of the last build)
Does it have a big temp difference compared with the thin one?
I would jump on a case like this if there was a 140mm version of the T30 or NF-A12x25. As it stands right now the performance of 120mm fans is just so much better than 140mm fans for radiators that the extra performance of the larger rads is significantly reduced due to the lower performing fans on the market. I do think that going for a 140mm rad is going to be a net positive on your performance but it isn't as much better than 120mm than it could be, which is disappointing.
NF-A14
amazing case and amazing review, there's so much work in this 50min video :o And thanks for the error checking, thanks to you we have a better case (one that does not sequestrate GPU lol)
I was wondering, are you going to review the Dark Base Pro 901 ?
Thank you. I might be able to check out that. I'm currently reviewing the new Shadow base 800DX
@@GGFEvents The 800DX looks like an amazing case, can't wait for the review :D
I'm asking about the darb base 901 because I think it might just be able to fit a Hardware Labs Black Ice 420 GTS at the front, a Hardware Labs Black Ice 420 GTX at the top, and a Hardware Labs Black Ice 360 GTS on the rear mount.
I have the original dark base pro 900 with a 420 GTS and a 360 GTX and I hope the 901 has the space need for 2x420 and 1x360 🤞
@@Vladek16 let me see what I can do!
Where did you mention about the GPU being difficult to remove e and Lian Li response?
Great video. Is there enough room for a 420 AIO rad in the top position with two two 120ml rear fans or is it better with a 360 rad?
I’ve been looking for a case to upgrade from my 5000d, this case looks awesome!
Hello, hope you are well, Amazing review, thanks, I was looking for that before buying the Lian Li evo XL. the only issue is about the rear fan, why dont they put a 140 mm fan ? But everything else is awesome.
Seeing 3x Monsta installed together is so wild😂
As always, perfect review, fantastic ❤ Pls, is there a choice of front mesh panel/kit? Same as on LianLi o11 Dynamic Evo? Have Dynamic Evo with mesh (and many external and internal radiators :) ) and its great choise... so its mandatory for me to have a mesh kit with dynamic evo XL, its perfect choise... thank you very much for response 😊 BB
Much appreciated S!!!!
Grat Video! Love all the details! What is the color you chose for the coolant?
Thank you. Mixed blue and green thermaltake dye
Awesome review, thank you!
I got the new EK front distro for my XL. I really want the EVO XL but after spending all that money for the distro, makes me re-think getting it. I wonder if i could mod it to fit?
yeah thats another hassle links prob dead
You IFR and MML are the best youtuber ever I have a white build in my mind!!!!!
Thank you. We're about to drop our Thermaltake CTE 750 review which has some good 420 support
Thanks, have subbed and will keep a lookout for it @@GGFEvents
Hello, I just subscribed to your channel. I have to say, this was an incredible review, love the set up. I have already bought this case prior to watching this review and it will be here in a few days, however. I went black. My previous case was an 011 Dynamic XL ROG edition, very good case. I have a few questions that you didnt make any mention to:
First, what did the system cost in total? Could you break down what the items cost at the time of the build?
Also, Lian Li offers a front fan mounting kit with a mesh front panel, which I also bought. Have you tried this?
My final question, is there much advantage over AIO, vs this set up?
Thank you
Great job. Thanks for this advisor.
amazing review. awesome build
Best video of this case on TH-cam. Very thorough and well put together. Question, on that Alphacool CPU block, would the spacing on the ports allow for EK Quantum Torque fittings? Like the thick extensions and 16mm hard tubing fittings?
I'd have to measure for you. And thank you
@@GGFEvents If your able to and don't mind that would be great!
Probably a bit tighter them others, but perfectly fine.
ah this case was so close to being perfect. I was debating between a regular case + MORA3 420 or a case that can fit a triple 60mm 420
Great job, great idea and execution.👍😁🍺
Thank you
I'm having a hard time choosing between the NV7 or the EvoXL....both are priced great and plenty of options.....
Amazing review and build as aways!! May I ask that what was the liquid ?
Just blue and green dye
I'm getting ready for a full upgrade, but wanted to know how much clearance is there between the vertical mounted GPU and MB @ 19:50 mark?
Would the Asus Crosshair Impact Daughterboard have enough space to fit in between, or am i looking at inserting the GPU in it's traditional position? Currently using a 3080FE with EK FE block
Man, you nailed this! Thanks : )
Thank you!
hmm, wonder if some silver auto pin strip or any color for that matter would cover the edge of the glass and look okay if a person wanted to change the color scheme.
Having a hard time deciding between this and the V3000+. :(
I wish there was something in-between with 480 rad support.
Love the build!
Why? 4x 360 rads is less surface area than 3x 420 rads.
cool review, Man! What's about external radiator Mo-Ra3 with Evo XL ?
No coat hangers and fitting weight tests?
Thanks for the very informative video on this crazy case))
I own today the first O11 that came back in a days, the Lian Li O11 Dynamic Black, and i like a lot this case, but i found myself that i will build for myself completely new system in this year (2024), i think when 15 gen intel cpu will come out.
That top flex is scary
exelent review once again! whats the fluids name? cant find it anywhere!
Im gonna buy this pc case as quickly as possible in Europe! Except this really thick radiators it's my dream build! What coolant do You use? Is this something premixed or Yours custom?
