Hey Cash! Are the top four 10 mm bolts self tapping bolts? Are they some kind of proprietary fasteners or can I put in something from the hardware store? The previous owner put in regular tapping bolts and fastened them with a nut from the underside, but it can only be done if the cooler is removed...
Hi! The bolts up top should not be self tapping unfortunately, if I’m understanding correctly it sounds like those were stripped out and replaced with something else. Your best bet might be tapping them a size larger and going back to regular bolts if there’s a nut on the back that you need to hold. Best of luck!
@@CashedOutCars Thank you very much for the prompt reply! Very good idea to tap them, being an amateur I have never considered this. Yeah, prev. owner put in regular M6 bolts, and fastened them with nuts from the underside. I will try to tap the holes a size or two larger. I always learn something new with my MX-5 :)
Hey cash the passenger side studs you are talking about at 2:14 broke on my bumper cover. Do you know what size and how to replace them by chance? I have looked everywhere and haven’t found a thing on them.
Mine too, they were rusted beyond belief. I could get to the top of those two, but the bottom stud wouldn't fit under my 10mm for some reason. Completely sheered :(
Here's the complete guide to removing your front bumper cover from your Miata. I hope this helps you out!
Cash, just picked up my second na, a 91…this video was very helpful! Thanks

I was planning on removing my front bumper because I need to replace a part called "Guide Air". I dont have jackstands so I hope this works for me
Seeing this makes me realize how many parts my miata doesn’t have lol
Hahaha I've taken ones apart and had the same thought

Does the Miata need the mesh cover to put the bumper back on?

@@u-an6821 Both mine are rusted to fuck and rounded. Might have to dremel them
Hey! Where did you put those jack stands underneath your car?
I put them on the factory jacking points inside the pinch welds!
what other bolts ????? u didn’t film the last two im stuck
Where does it feel like your bumper is sticking? The video mentions everything you’ll need to do and shows nearly all of it!
They’re not Phillips, they’re JIS
My front bumper sags from the hood and fenders. It sags low enough that you can see into the engine bay.
Same😊
Hmm so the entire time I thought I needed brackets but it’s held on with bolts!
