Thanks for Video - changed the bulb in a carpark in the Alps before the sunset. All straightforward on a slightly different setup on a 2004 E53. Well done and thanks.
You make some amazing videos... because of you I am able to fix most of my parts on the car, things I can get to and replace otherwise a BMW would not be for me. Want to thank you once again for your fantastic instructional videos... you Da Man... :-)
This video is pretty good but I need some to tell me how to do it on a 2005 BMW X5 because the first part is almost the same but once I got all the screes out I just can not get the headlights out because the is nothing to slide to the side the bumper is one big part attach to the rest of it.
I'm having that issue right now 07/06/2021, I guess you follow the unscrewing process but you don't have to take out the whole headlight assembly, just pull enough to change the signal bulb
Adorian Pascalau I do not think you can replace the lens it is a sealed unit if you have the bi xenon as far as I can tell. I wanted to do the same thing. So you have two options you can biy a whole new headlight unit between $300-$700 depending on where you look or if you just want the lens restored you can take it to a Sams Club for $25 and theu come out looking brand new. It's the best deal I have found anywhere for headlight restoration. Body shops will charge $50-$100.
I like the video it help a lot. Thanks I’m trying to update my old factory lights to led U halo light is it okay to remove the ballast and where do I connect the white and black wire. I would like to connect them to my Signal lights so they can blink . Can you help me 2001 BMW X5 4.4i
Hi @MaD Dog. I've just done the same on my 2003 4.4i (with headlight washers). You can use led halo lights straight from the internet without any conversion needed. The ballast is really for the xenon low beams. Good luck mate
Thank you for your video. I didn’t know that I had HI in my ‘02, and you saved me a hassle. Can the ballast be bypassed to install cheap aftermarket lights?
Why does everyone only show one headlight there are two headlights inside each sides headlamp lens. Just curious why you don’t show both headlight removal Nd install.?
If your just doing the turn signal bulb you don't need to remove all the extra cables, just the 4 screws should be enough to give you some room to reach in there and swap the bulb
Is there any possible to to put a different head lamp on it from a different car. Lets say this one is to expensive for me ao id like to see if theres a different lamp not the bulb but the whole piece
I have a 2002 BMW X5 and I have condensation on the inside of my Xenon headlights but I'm fold you have to replace the whole headlight fixture. can you retro fit after market headlights to fit the 02 x5?
+Brenda B Condensation inside headlight typically means that moisture or water is getting inside the headlight assembly due to a cracked sealant gasket. We recommend you visually inspect the outer of headlight and if you see any worn out or cracked sealant, add some water proof sealant. In terms of going with aftermarket headlights, no retro fit is required as long as you get the correct headlight since some headlights are xenon and some are halogen. Aftermarket headlight should be pre-wired to connect to oem wire harness. hope that helps.
Hi, if I am trying to change the bulb on the driver side with D2S, would I still need to remove the whole unit? or is there an easier way to replace the bulb, please? thank you for the detailed video
I would highly recommend removing headlight to ensure that bulb is installed properly, otherwise you run the risk melting your headlight housing if D2S bulb touches plastic.
I did my apprenticeship in 95. Been working on bmw fir almost 30 years I've owned over 34 of them noy including the super rare ones from Japan and Germany. I have to put this out there .people watching these amateur videos don't take what these guys say for real check with a manual or a real technician. This is the same guy who said you can check your auxiliary fan by jumping it. No you cannot. There wiring to tje dme bmw did this twenty years ahead of all the other manufacturers today all new vehicles are made this way

One of my lights is dim, would you suggest a blub replacement or something else?
nice video. Do you know how to replace the side signal?

Are 2001 and 2003 headlights the same on the x5?
yes,
bimmermerchant thank you!
Brilliant vid
thanks
is this the same for 2006 4.4 models?
No Pain No Gain Don't think so. 06 X5 models had different headlights and therefore might have different mounting points.
bimmermerchant Thanks!!!
Excellent video thanks 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
So where is the location of the OEM ballast?
underneath headlight
Mounted to the headlight itself?
Great info very helpful
BTW, Thanks for all your videos!!! They are really helpful!!!
