If you want to hear what they can do with their voices in terms of electronics, watch their mash up of Daft Punk medley. It won them their first Grammy!
The power of the Pentaholic family; if you react to them, we will come in droves. As others have said, please do their cover of Imagine by John Lennon. Not only are their vocals glorious, the message in the video is one that we still need to learn after all these years.
I don’t have a solution for your grandmother, but for most of us, we’ve seen these videos dozens of times so if you have to distort the visuals to get the videos to post, we’re fine with that. I am here to see your reaction, to sort of relive my own initial delight in discovering the band. I am so glad that you are enjoying PTX, please keep ‘em coming. Peace …
They sing everything under the sun. “Can’t hold us”, “i need your love”, “say something”, “shallow”, and their evolution videos are stand outs for me. There are sooo many more. Their official version of “silent night” is recorded live in a german (i think) cathedral/chapel and it’s absolutely magnificent. To see their electro side, check out their “daft punk” medley and their original “love again”. There are soooooo many more amazing songs. These are just off the top on my head.
Their story is a very interesting. If you want to know how they came together there is a utube video. The guy with the deep voice is Avi Kaplan and he has his own career going since he left the group in 2017. You should check out his "Change On The Rise". His voice can go so deep that a few times when they were on tour he blew out microphones. You should really react to their Imagine cover. It is so pertinent to what is going on right now.
You liked Avi's bass part, and how smooth and calming it was. React to this original song of his from 2022 - the live 7 Layers Sessions recording of "All Is Well", performed in a church in Utrecht, Netherlands during his 2022 European tour. Just him, his acoustic guitar, the natural resonance of the church, and no studio manipulation. th-cam.com/video/sNjbAAjF4Tg/w-d-xo.html
I know I've been told, I've also started a PTX fan club tier on my Patreon too and it's already reached ten members. Mind you there's great incentive to join, as well as exclusive PTX content, anything that gets blocked on YT goes straight on there so people don't have to wait.
The guy with the long hair is Avi Kaplan Basso Profundo with a 5 octave range. His solo music is stellar. You can pick any song he has done and it will be amazing! From his early works as Avriel and the Sequoias while still with PTX, to his latest album Floating on a Dream is it all amazing. Change on the Rise was the first song he released after leaving PTX. If you would like something more familiar he does have 3 covers House of the Rising Sun, Lean on Me and OutKasts Hey Ya.
After Pentatonix won the Sing Off, series 3 in 2011, they won a recording contract. But then the record company dropped them right away as they felt they couldn't market a capella (oh how wrong they were). So Pentatonix started posting their own videos, often from a couch in one of their apartments, and that is why so much of what they have done is primarily on TH-cam. If you want to hear another Pentatonix song that I've been shocked hasn't been on the radio, or at least in the dancehalls then and now, listen to Love Again, a Pentatonix original.
Especially if you still have to blur the video, make your thumbnail bigger. Pentaholics love watches people’s reactions! I’d love to see your facial expressions!
Kevin Olusola is a genius - he has solo projects that you can find here on You Tube. He plays multiple instruments, especially the cello. He is a songwriter, has perfect pitch - he truly is crucial to this group and such a fantastic, humble human being.
You say the deep voice of Avi Kaplan is soothing… I say sexy. His voice makes me melt. Also, PTX does have a ton of original songs. They are fire. If you want to see Kevin(beatboxer) go wild, check out his cover of “down” on his personal channel kevin olusola. He shreds the cello while singing and beatboxing live on his studio. It’s ridiculous. My mind melts when i watch that video.
The names at the end of Pentatonix videos are the Patreons from their "video" tier. That used to be a major source of funding for their videos in the early days.
Mitch is who we will refer to you being Mitch-Slapped lol. He's the handsome gentleman counter tenor who continues to impress you with his angelic vocals. The human electric guitar & lead vocalist from the Bohemian Rhapsody video ☺️
He’s the one I read up about and learned a bit about his personal life section on Wikipedia! There was something on there that absolutely shocked me, like I could scarcely believe that my eyes were reading the words that had been put in such an order to reveal something so unbelievable shocking and ridiculous…..! And that shocking thing was what?! In 2018 he paid $1.73 MILLION for a TWO BEDROOM house in the Hollywood Hills! TWO BEDROOM! I live in a 2 bedroom house myself. It has a massive kitchen and living room, both bedrooms are a great size but one is bigger than the other, I also have an completely enclosed garden including a path down the side of the house with a wall on one side and a huge fence on top with a gate at that end, and another next to the patio so it’s perfect for my dog because he’s a wannabe escape artist! I also have a 2nd downstairs toilet room and a big driveway with a decent sized space next to it that if I wanted to I could pave over it and it’d be big enough for a motorbike. And the price I’m paying for all this? £101.55 a week! It’s absolutely crazy that he paid $1.73 million for a house with no more bedrooms than mine has just because it happens to be in the hills. I was and still am absolutely gobsmacked by that! 🤦🏻♂️😳🤯
@YorkshiremanReacts26 LOL yes he did, but 2 years later he listed it for sale! Watch the group's beginning on The Sing Off. You'll see where they came from & why Mitch is so special. He suffers from anxiety & was bullied all his life for his voice & orientation. They've earned their stripes, & have worked hard since day one to deserve their accolades. Been working & touring since 2011. Make no mistake, this group is humble, kind & they are true role models. ❤️
@@TheInkdN3rd Disgusting pieces of s**t. I can relate to most of that, I have SEVERE anxiety (and depression but that’s much easier to deal with than panic attacks) and panic disorder. It is so debilitating even when it’s not happening because I now plan things in such a way that a potential episode is always considered by me. It’s bloody awful. And I was also bullied for the way I looked (I had really bad facial acne when I hit puberty and I got absolutely slaughtered), my school nickname at that time was “pizza-face” & “dot-to-dot” (the popular drawing based children’s game), but I was also bullied for other stuff in other ways too. I could count on being beaten up or physically hurt almost every single day, and this happened for the entire of my high school life (age 11-16), I had a great childhood in certain areas but in others it was just pure torture, I experienced every type of mistreatment and abuse, but I had and still do have an incredible family so they helped keep me determined to get through it, but it’s unbelievable to me that I’m still here because I was dead set on making it so I wouldn’t be you know? But anyway I’ve gone on a bit there and I don’t like doing this! Making it all about me, I was just trying to show that I understood. I’m so glad he ended up being one of those ones who was bullied but then grew up to become so successful and famous that it’s impossible to imagine that those scummy rats who bullied him don’t know what became of him now! 😄😁 And I sincerely hope that it’s the most painful, annoying feeling in the world for them to know that they COULD HAVE been FRIENDS with someone so amazing and talented, yet they CHOSE to bully him and end up with more chance of being the first humans to adapt to being able to breathe underwater and live in the Atlantic Ocean for the rest of their lives than ever become friends with him! HA! 🤣😂 #EndBullies #StopBullying
Great reaction. I love Pentatonics. Actually, I love all the acapella groups. The top 3 are Pentatonics, Home Free and VoicePlay. They all have loyal followers and will watch the reactors. We like to share these amazing videos. Have fun. Welcome.
Pentatonix are best known for their Christmas music. They have released a holiday EP or album every year since 2012, and all their albums show up in the top 100 downloaded albums in the US during the holidays. (Their 2023 Christmas album is a greatest hits compilation with 8 new songs, out Oct 20; buy a copy for your grandmother.) They do fresh, creative arrangements of traditional carols and holiday pop songs, and do their own originals. But they built their TH-cam channel doing a capella covers of current pop songs, then expanded into pop covers from various decades and styles including Motown, Broadway, rock, EDM, K- and J-pop. And they have two originals albums.
There was some reverb on the portion when they were doing the claps, but generally they use very little in the way of extra electronic "helps". They pride themselves on being able to reproduce the sound of the official videos live on stage or on TV. Yes...that's Kevin on percussion, Avi Kaplan is the bass ( although he left amicably in 2017 and was replaced a few months later by Matt Sallee who has a wonderful warm bass sound and a happy personality). It's Mitch Grassi with those high vocals.
To learn where they started & how they formed, & to also get to know them & see them form from babytonix to 3 time Grammy Winners with a Star on the Walk of Fame & became Christmas Royalty lol......The Sing Off. You must do those videos. It's the very VERY beginning & gives you a dozen amazing pieces to see their range & to see how even from day one, the judges, one of whom is Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men, knew they were destined for greatness.

Yes, the beatboxer is Kevin. And yes, he's incredibly good at what he does. He also plays a mean invisible flugelhorn; you can see that in "Havana." Mitch is the contratenor, the first soloist in this song. The guy with the long hair is Avi. The tall blond guy is Scott. Pentatonix have had their share of tough times, but they used hard work, raw talent, and utter determination to get through them. And the result is that they now have a career doing what they love most with the people they love most, which is riches beyond compare, so I don't think that any one of them would say that they aren't being paid enough. Besides, all current members of Pentatonix are now multimillionaires. They keep working not because they have to but because they want to. At some point, more money becomes irrelevant. Yes, I encourage you to buy their albums, because fair is fair, but no, Pentatonix is not underpaid.
Pentatonix has a Tik Tok channel as well, and a FaceBook page, and Twtter accounts (excuse me, I mean X), and Instagram. In short, they ARE all over the internet.
Love any time we get bouncy Mitch! Love this song, it’s often blocked. Kevin is absolutely epic and you haven’t seen half of what he can do. My favorite recommendation is PopSpring 2016, it’s a longer video, but I promise we all love it, and will watch it. It’s also live so you most likely won’t have to deal with it getting blocked. The video includes 3 originals and the evolution of Michael Jackson. The list of names at the end of the video are their patreons.
Great reaction. If you want to see Kevin Olusola solo I like his cover of Marian Hill’s Down. In the PTX original Sing he raps that he is a “human 808” which is one of the early Roland drum synthesizers. Little Drummer Boy has great Christmas song drums. Also New Rules x Are You That Somebody. I do suggest you watch Imagine next. It is awesome.

Pentatonix is not always strictly a capella. Kevin the beatboxer plays cello on some songs, and they have used instruments and additional voices on some songs on their Christmas albums for a long time. Recently, especially on their original songs, they are working with pop songwriters and producers, and sometimes add instruments or synths to get the sound they want. Although, some things that sound synthetic may be their voices that have been electronically altered / filtered to sound that way. With current events the way they are, perhaps you could react to their 2022 original, "Prayers for this World", which uses strings. The official video is great, but I also like this live version from the 2022 Hollywood Bowl concert -- th-cam.com/video/yAgFsUAzqr4/w-d-xo.html
