    That guy you pointed out in the crowd seemed to be Mario Jose. He worked for PTX as stage help for a few years and got to know the band during that time. They found out Mario could sing wonderfully, so got him to join Scott and Mitch in some songs they were doing for their years long side project, Superfruit. Scott and he sang Lost On You and Mario joined two other friends with Scott and Mitch and all sang Rise together.They also asked Mario to open for them at least once and then secretly contacted Mario's parents and got them into the audience to watch him. Mario has his own career singing now.

      Mario Jose graduated from the prestigious Berklee College Of Music in Boston, MA. So did Matt. Both were part of the award-winning college a cappella group named Pitch Slapped. They were not there at the same time. Mario is older than Matt. Fun Fact: Mario sang backing vocals for Darren Criss, who was the opening act that night for Pentatonix. Scott and Mario geeked out that they both got to perform at the Hollywood Bowl on the same night.

      Pentatonix, especially Scott and Avi, have launched numerous careers for overlooked talents. Scott started a female a capella group as well as a kids' group, AcaPop Kids! Kevin helped with the children wanting to beat box for the group! They're great & have their own channel on TH-cam! 💖
      Avi and Ben Bram started the A Capella Academy. They do try outs for middle school thru high school kids in the fall & winter, then work with them personally through the summer, presenting a couple of weeks of concerts at summer's end! 💖
      It's so nice when those who've found success pass on what they've learned to those young ones who look up to them. 😊

      @@shilohauraable, that really wonderful of them. I knew about AcaPop and Citizen Queen that Scott sponsored and helped. I've seen quite a few pics of the groups with Scott and Mark at his home, practicing. I'm not at all surprised at Kevin helping kids to learn to beatbox...he's a natural helper. It 's so great that Avi and Ben Bram have also put a program in place for kids to learn and focus on singing a capella.
      I wish more vocal artists would help youth to launch their own careers in music, especially acapella because it builds strong vocal skills and music theory.

    I think the 5 years was arranging and polishing the song, and having the nerves to actually publish such an iconic song.

    They have been performing this live in their concerts for years before this performance. The five years was to make sure the arrangement would honor and do justice to Freddie’s masterpiece.

    Matt Sallee came in to replace Avi when he left , and Scott is the tall blond guy. The Hollywood Bowl is basically home to these kids, 'cause they live in L.A. now. They are truly TOP of the Mountain in music. They are the ones who put "a cappella " on the map of genres , gave it a whole new face and level up.

    Thanks for checking the live version of this. They really do sound almost identical live as they do in the studio version.
    The "singers in the aisles" are a choir they hired to augment their voices in the opera portion of the song. Apparently Queen never could perform this live because they'd also had to use effects they couldn't replicate onstage.
    There are rumours that Mitch is Freddie re-born. Mitch's looks, vocals and flamboyance are so like his, and Mitch was born only months after Freddie's death.

      No no Marc Martel is Freddie reborn. Mitch is great though. 💯

  • @ShinyElfriend
    @ShinyElfriend ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The people dressed alike in the aisles were a choir backing them during the operatic portion of the song. You can hear Scott say "welcome the singers in the aisles." They don't normally do this, and don't need it, but they did it as a special treat for the Hollywood Bowl show. There are other live shows where you can see them without the choir if you'd ever like to. They usually close out their show with this as their encore (like they did, here) so there are a ton of live versions out there.

    The original members are Scott (tall, blonde), Mitch (high voice), Kirstin (nickname Kirstie, rhymes with thirsty), Kevin (beatboxer) and the new bass is Matt. In newer videos I think Mitch has had the mustache every time. If I’m wrong, someone will surely correct me😃.

    • @Gwennedd

      You're right. For the last few years, Mitch has been sporting that 'stache. He didn't have it when he had the mullet, though.

      The one that always makes me cringe is the hair in his eyes haircut that he had in "Aha Singapore the Star Vista." Another one that lasted for years.

      @@susanpeterson9947, mine too. I can't say I'm a fan of the mustache. It makes him look older and sharp featured...and like his dad.

      Mustache, and more recently also a little soul patch below his lower lip. He's embracing the fact that he's no longer the kid he was in their early days.

    This Hollywood Bowl concert was kind of a 10-year celebration for Pentatonix. They did songs from throughout their career, and they even did an "Evolution of Pentatonix" where they talked about the group's history and did short bits of songs. FYI -- they did a previous Hollywood Bowl concert for a July 4 celebration in 2017, but performed with an orchestra.

    This concert was professionally recorded and shown on a pay-per-view stream. There were some fans who captured video from the steam and posted individual songs; it looks like that's where you got this. There are also fan-recorded videos from this and many of their concerts, and in recent years the phone recordings have gotten pretty good. I don't think the fan-posted live videos get blocked.

      Thank you Liam brother. I know it’s amazing how basically 2 videos made it happen. But it’s so bittersweet because I can’t monetise the channel. You remember why. It’s so frustrating! 😣

    Great reaction. Now that you have seen them live maybe see the official video of Daft Punk. It is almost unbelievable. They won a Grammy. ( and yes. They perform that medley live as well)

      Don’t you worry I intend to cover EVERYTHING! This is only my 4th ever PTX video but I’m already well on my way on this journey! For example I’ve already started a special tier on my patreon that’s for PTX fans ONLY! And I’ve already got 4 members! I only started it like 24 hours ago too! I don’t intend to miss anything. 💯🙂

    Most of the five years was just Pentatonix growing in their craft, until they felt that they were ready to take on "Bohemian Rhapsody." My personal suspicion is that they decided it was time when Mitch discovered his inner electric guitar, but that's only a guess.

  • @margretrosenberg420
    @margretrosenberg420 ปีที่แล้ว

    Many people (not you) assume that the megaphone had been altered to provide some sort of distortion on the guitar solos. Therefore, regardless of what a reactor may or may not say, we always bring the subject up and make sure people know that the megaphone is nothing more than a prop.

    Recommend their version of Amazing Grace.

  • @margretrosenberg420
    @margretrosenberg420 ปีที่แล้ว

    The mustache seems to be personal choice; Mitch has been wearing it for quite some time now. Also, remember that this wasn't Pentatonix going to the Hollywood Bowl to perform "Bohemian Rhapsody"; this was just one song in a full concert. I doubt that Mitch changes his facial hair based solely on one song. As for what influence Freddie Mercury might have on those choices I have no idea. It might be considerable, or it might not.

    I thought if you paused the videos often and long enough you would be able to escape the censors Heard and saw Pentatonix before i saw you doing reactions to them. This live version is much better than the original studio version, though I would have liked one of the "band" members simulate a gong at the end. Talking of the live version better than the studio version, have you reacted to Dire Straits and Sultans of Swing (alchemy live) I think I mentioned it before 🙂
