I'm a black woman and I am no hater (hence my user name, hehe) THEY WERE COLD! Instead of hating on their race maybe some of you other BLGO's should take a few notes on what a clean routine with precision and creativity looks like. Not to cause any drama but ZTA had the most clean and creative performance PERIOD! I am a dancer and a former cheerleading coach and I give this routine two thumbs up!
As president of my step team here at college - they were beyond phenomenal! There's nothing anyone can say that could possibly subtract from their obvious talent.
hands down these girls won fair. They looked like they had more rhythm than a lot more of the teams I've seen here and other competitions. No need to get mad they worked the hardest and they earned what put into it. I only wish i knew them too. I wish them the best in the future.
They flat the fuck out won!!!!! Kappa Alpha Psi Fratenity Inc 1980 and they did it without all the musical gimmicks black frats and sororitities use now. Most of their show was straight showmanship! Don't hate, tighten up your shit!
I so remember this on tv..the whole commotion was about the AKA's they were friends with this line and taught them some moves or something and they used and they felt that they used all their material something idk but they did good and one thing I will say all these steps and strolls have symbolic meanings to the dvine9 and nobody can still that!
AKA lost b/c they depended on choreo to wow with difficulty (instead of practice) but NO GROOVE=NO HEART=NO SOUL=NO WIN However tried n' true/simple, ZTA's rhythms were far superior, and done with disciplined execution. Take away costumes/theme and novelty whiteness, there's still a beat that is both anticipated and satisfied and that's what makes it relate-able/FELT! Blind folk can dance to it. ZTA had the MUSICALITY. Others didn't.The rest just failed miserably at that. ZTA FTW .
The bottom line is that these ladies did an excellent job. To all the black women who thought otherwise: Stop being racists because I bet if they were black there will be nothing negative said.
EXACTLY. And why would they show up at something like this anything less than serious? They had to know how it would look if they had come looking like a bunch of hillbillies that were all sloppy and off. They would be fools to come unprepared have everybody making jokes about how the white girls couldn't hang. If they were going to dare to throw their hat into that arena at all, it better be up to par or end up as "Becky Meme of the Decade". Plus that's cheerleader country and they take that SERIOUS down there, where Mom's are trying to take out some JV kid who might've beat out their daughter for a spot on the squad... Every other team looked like they had gotten complacent. It should have put everyone on guard to bring their best just by the fact that those girls came in to the competition. They just stepped and stepped and stepped some more the whole time, no need for filler or skits, letting their theme and costumes tell the story AND unified all the required elements while All.They. Did. Was. STEP. -- Just. Did. NOT. STOP. STEPPIN,...
I am being honest when I say this, I think those girls are great but since I did not see the other performers, I can't say the deserved to win of course. 2nd. These girls are great and their routines are incredibly good BUT I personally think when most black not all but most black people when they step, it's a certain feeling, rhythm, attitude that they display while stepping which is missing from these girls step routine so therefore I'm not enjoying it as much. That's just me.
Now...if this had been a competition where everyone was white and an all black team had one...nobody would give two fucks. People need to grow up. They had a clean routine and a good performance so they deserved to win.
Stepping is an African American invention but just because you invented something doesn't mean the world can't use it! AND I don't care what color they were, them girls tore that thing up SON! And I looked at the other presentations and all I saw (mostly) were Soros trying to look cute and funny as they stepped but no hard core sequential steppi' like the Zeta's did. So "Step it up" Soul sistas love yah!

So if you will pardon the pun "Step your game up" My Soul sistas! love yah!
@TheSublimeLifestyle It's not prejudice but if saying that makes you feel better than go ahead because frankly It doesn't matter to me. The performance lacked something simply put. Again I did not see the other competitors so for all I know maybe they were the best in that particular competition but frankly speaking, I've seen better steppers who had more idk soul, cheerleaders have spirit, steppers have soul, don't get the both of those terms twisted.
@jspeaks10 Thank you sister! They did take it and I hope this motivates our sisters to take stepping seriously and not just as a time to be cute and sassy but to show the unity and history and precision of the Black Sorority. Yeah, they took it, so now go TAKE IT BACK!
@tiana1017 look up the definitions of prejudice, soul, and spirit. To save you a minute, Spirit IS soul and vice versa...I think it's safe to twist the two terms. Not only being there but seeing all the other performances, they were above the competition. You should watch them though.... DISCLAIMER: In no way am I being hostile or offensive.
@tiana1017 I think they did great and personally, I think your own prejudice prevented you from enjoying the routine. They did better than all the sororities point blank. Furthermore that feeling is called 'spirit', which is not ethnically inherited. "It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone..." - Marianne Williamson
they did good! who says stepping is just for black people [last time i checked NOBODY] so since the judges thought they were the best (and 9 times out of 10 the judges were probably all black so this couldn't've been anything racist) then they were the best, hands down!!!
They where good, what was the hoopla about ! An advantage to is whites and Chinese are never thought to be good dancers by black people and sometimes in doing so they underestimate! I have seen cheerleading competitions, and white girls kill it on perceptions! they were clean all on point at the same time rhythmic . The underdog can easily win if he is more focus more determined to perfect the crafts, more then the one that is more naturally apt.
@TheSublimeLifestyle They lack soul to me, they look to me like they have more spirit like cheerleaders to me , you know those straight jerky movements lacking feeling, kinda hard to explain but if you think I'm prejudice because of that statement then that's your problem not mine. I have a right to my opinions and remember not every single thing can be duplicated by everybody.
man.. they did a good job..just because they werent black doesnt mean they didnt have the right to win... get over it.. they were best if the judges say so..
seems like the same thing.. we will champion anybody of a different race whether they are good or not.. I didn't see anything original about their routine except their race and the crowd going crazy.. I truly doubt that if the exact same routine were performed my black ppl, it would garner the same response. Anybody white with a smidge of rhythm will be championed because it's not expected.. but we're all entitled to our opinion
They did a great job, but I have been judging step shows foe years and they would have been close runner ups. Some of the precision was off, but I don't see why people are making it about skin color. I understand that stepping is a part of black greek culture, but these girls embraced it. A little twerking too lol
I think this is a good routine but if they were black they would not have won...the main reason they got crowd response is because no one ever saw white girls step...for example..if a gerbil pop locks in a talent show the world would be amazed...if I did it no one would even bat an eye..because its not an oddity..but at the end of the day it was entertaining...Stay Perfect My Friends!
As A Proud African and Loving Member of the Original Family.....These White Girls Brung IT and They Deserved to WIN!!! Hands Down!!!!!
I agree! The brung it! Fair is Fair 💯

Five years later. And yup they still killed it.
+Parkman8 I know, right? This never gets old for me. Damn entertaining.
5 more years later and they still killed it
@@moneysignjust1dollah987 Still a murder scene in 2022... Buffys be SLAYIN.

they love our swag, if you know what i mean!
Omg!!! They did an AWESOME JOB!!! My first time seeing other than HBCU greeks and man they beat thee other competitors by far!
AKA lost b/c they depended on choreo to wow with difficulty (instead of practice) but

Where did these females come from ? Never seen nothing like this a day of my life !!! Love it !!!
They did that
The bottom line is that these ladies did an excellent job. To all the black women who thought otherwise: Stop being racists because I bet if they were black there will be nothing negative said.
Those heffas STEPPED. IDC what nobody else says, choreographed or original steps to their organization. They didn't come to play.

Awesome loud stepping 🚶♀️ in 👠's on stage floor 👍👍👍👍👍👏💯🤗😊
I agree...they deserved it. Ain't no time for being CUTE up there...they went deep and pulled it UP! I'll give it to them. They did their thing.
@BlackWolf020 thank you
They rock but how can we see the rest of the competition?
Will you start shaking that money Maker? You already know you got it.
Now...if this had been a competition where everyone was white and an all black team had one...nobody would give two fucks. People need to grow up. They had a clean routine and a good performance so they deserved to win.
they are awesome. they did their thing.
@tiana1017 I understand...and know that prejudice just doesn't mean towards an ethnicity.

They did great hands down....don't be mad because they won. I bet the other sororities will have their stuff together next time!!!!
@tiana1017 I think they did great and personally, I think your own prejudice prevented you from enjoying the routine. They did better than all the sororities point blank. Furthermore that feeling is called 'spirit', which is not ethnically inherited.
