    Hey there,
    For some reason the laser reader on my cutter keeps giving me an error. At 27:22 just like this video it starts at the first position, scans left to right, left to right, up then down, moves to the next position goes up then down, then it comes back to the original position and the error light flashes. Please let me know what im doing wrong.

    thank you for sharing. what matt are you using? Did the gcc expert 24 print the heatpress design or just cut the design? How did you get the vinyl "heat press" logo that the gcc expert cut? I purchased the gcc expert 24 and am now playing catch up.

      Great questions!
      1) We are using the Silhouette Light Hold Cutting Mat - www.heatpressnation.com/products/silhouette-cameo-light-cutting-mat-12-x-12
      2) The Expert only cut the design. It was printed off-camera on a separate inkjet printer.
      3) We contour cut it. If you start following along at 17:10 of this video, you'll see how you can do the exact same thing with any solid image.

    I have a GCC vinyl cutter expert 24, i'm having issues with vinyl shifting as it cuts. I try make sure I have the rollers on the white bars. also I try make sure there is slack from the roll of vinyl. I have also cut a good size sheet so its not trying to move so much thru the cutter, but it keeps shifting, any suggestions?

    • @bryantahnwork3068
      @bryantahnwork3068 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vinyl shifting happens because 1. Your vinyl is not loaded straight and the wheels placed over the grippy portion of the metal roller. There is a trick to making sure you can feed many feet of vinyl before sending a job. 2. Your pinch roller could be cracked or worn causing it to shift. This is a more in-depth troubleshooting issue that can be resolved with another video.

    wait, how do you contour cut if you already printed out the design on vinyl adhesive paper through your printer and it doesn't have margins or any way of reading the pattern when placing it in the gcc cuter? do you have to print the design through the gcc program in order for the cuter to know where to cut?

    • @bryantahnwork3068
      @bryantahnwork3068 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is correct Joshua! The image has to be printed through Great Cut so there is no issues with measurements and the image aligns perfectly with registration marks. If your image is already printed with registration marks, you won't be able to contour cut it. The optical eye will probably scan the first mark and then it will just reset back to default.

    Good day. Im having a problem with my print and cut with my expert2. I have a page size of 21"x24" in coreldraw with multiple smal circularl logos (2"x2") printed in it. I put contour marks using GCC Greatecut plugin and the 4 registration marks using the AAS macro tool. And export it as jpg and printed it in actual size including the registration marks in my large-format ecosol printer. But my problem is this, the cutter just scan the 4 reg marks then back to origin position and it does NOT cut. Am I missing something? Hope you could help. Thanks. my name is Obet and Im from the Philippines.

      If this is happening only on very small or fine details of your transfer, you might want to try a 25°-30° blade. You could also try lowering the force setting on your blade.

    my gcc expert II lx 24"park" the knife 8 cm from the edge of vinyl edge no matter what, the vinyl width is 61 cm and the right edge of the vinyl i have placed just at the edge joint of "whit-yellow" mark on the right side of machine.
    i have specified work area to 60 cm width and 150cm length in GreatCut, then i have set new origin point on the machine and let the machine measure vinyl edges.
    this is when the problem occurs because machine does not park on the right "edge" of the vinyl but 8 cm from the edge.
    i have been checking video tutorials on internet and i repeated everything exactly as shown there but still the machine won't work correct.

    I am trying to decide what equipment, beyond a high quality heat press, I should purchase. Seems to me that the basics would be the heat press and a simple vinyl cutter. Then, to go beyond producing words/text (layering colors as well), one would require an inkjet printer to produce logo's, pics, etc. But, what if one wanted to produce the highest quality letters with shadows, etc.? Could one or should one purchase an inkjet printer using heat transfer vinyl (or paper?) in conjunction with a contour cutter? If so, I would buy a heat press, contour vinyl cutter, and an inkjet printer for vinyl. Please help me wade through this.

    • @HeatPressNation
      @HeatPressNation  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're off to a great start. From here, it's important to research different transfer methods to see what's going to work best for you. In ascending order of startup costs, here are the most popular options: inkjet heat transfer paper, sublimation, white toner laser transfer, direct to garment (DTG). We carry equipment for all of these processes except DTG, which is incredibly expensive.
      Here are some video links to help get you going in the right direction:

      Sublimation: heat.press/sublimationplaylist

My vector is made by me on adobe illustrator. For some odd reason the plugin to export to my gcc great cut software does not work. So, i create registration marks in great cut 4 after i import my saved illustator file. I print it with registration marks then place on my cutting matt and in my expert 24 ii lx plotter. The problem is my plotter is i think too sensitive and reads my reg. marks and my logo. I have about 8 2x2 logos on the 8.5 x 11 size paper. Do i need to remove some logos? You would need a mask but it depends on which heat transfer product you're using. Siser EasySubli Vinyl allows you to replicate the same effects and transfer process of Inkjet Dark/Opaque Transfer Paper but you can use their EasySubli mask which will hold all the separate parts of your graphic together so that everything can be heat pressed together. Please note, using this mask is only recommended on EasySubli Vinyl. If you use it on inkjet transfer paper, we noticed it pulls some of the ink off.

    So, no one that I have found, so far, Has done a demo where they set the print job up in GCC, then print it out somehow. I assume it takes another printer but is GCC the right program to print from? It seems that the crop marks, or registration marks, our critical, but no one ever shows how they get onto the printed material. I wish someone would do that. And explain it.

      Yes, it can contour cut any size within the dimensions of the cutter. So up to 22" x 10 feet as long as you have the material to support it and possibly a cutting mat if needed.

    I have an Expert 24LX, and I use CorelDraw and I only cut words, my issue is that certain fonts will not output to the cutter. For example, if I copy and paste a word in the Impact font it will successfully cut, but if I change the font to let’s say Times New Roman, when I am ready to cut I click output and nothing happens, this happens with almost all fonts (only around 2-3 fonts will output) Thanks in advance

      Before sending exporting your project, try converting your font to curves or tracing it. That font may not be in the proper format for vector output.

    How do you line up the cutting mat properly?

    • @HeatPressNation
      @HeatPressNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We like to line up the edge of the cutting mat with the ruler guides at the front of the cutter. Then set the wheels down about 1/8" inside the edges. You can of course position the wheels differently, if that works better for you.
      If you're contour cutting, you'll want to position the blade right over the first registration mark.

  • @RadRaf
    @RadRaf 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    OMG, thank you for walking through the contour cutting process. You don't know how long i've waited for someone to put a simple tutorial up for it! My only question is when I try to contour cut it reads the "diagonal line" but instead of moving onto the next "bracket" it just starts to move diagonally outward until it hits a part of the image then the red error light starts blinking. Any idea what this can be? I can post a youtube video of what it's doing if need be but maybe you already know what the problem might be? I have the same exact model you show here.

    • @bryantahnwork3068
      @bryantahnwork3068 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rafael Gonzalez Hi Rafael, I'm the technician in this video and I'll be happy to help you. The error light will only occur with the contour cutting mode when the material is set incorrectly OR you haven't sized your material properly before you cut. So if you notice in my video at 23:11 , I place my pinch rollers outside of the entire graphic and I hit Origin set (3) times to measure this width. Once it finishes measuring, you need to manually move the blade point right above that 45 degree line. If you look at ALL your registration brackets, only one of them has a 45 degree line sticking out. Make sure that point is where I line it up in the video. Then you will need to go to Great Cut and click File, Output, and Read Material. The measurements for width will pop up and if you did it correctly, there will be no message. If you did this wrong and measured it too short, it will say, "Jog will be segmented." This means what you measured is TOO short for the size of graphic you're trying to cut.
      Always remember before you print your graphic that your object is smaller than your printable area on both. Please watch 20:57 for this part.

    • @HeatPressNation

      - The cutter might not be connected properly.
      - You might not have the correct cutter selected.
      - Save your file and close GreatCut. Try reading the material again, wait for it to finish, then send your job to cut.

    • @bryantahnwork3068
      @bryantahnwork3068 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, if it's not cutting, first please make sure the blade is sticking out of your holder. On the Expert II's they should allow you to max it out and the blade should be sticking out a bit more than a credit card thickness. Then, you can set your pressure to about 120 grams of force and that should help.

    • @HeatPressNation
      @HeatPressNation  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately working with Illustrator is not a strong point of ours. We usually suggest designing in Illustrator, welding the image, then opening in Great Cut. Great Cut is able to directly import .AI files, so that does make the process a little easier.

    When I go to output sometimes it doesn't cut. Why is that happening Thanks

    • @bryantahnwork3068
      @bryantahnwork3068 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This happens because of 1. Your graphic is not a vector file or 2. Your cutter is not connected with your software. If you go to File, Output, and nothing pops up. Then your design is the issue. It needs to be vectored. If you send the job from the Output screen and nothing happens, then you have a loss of connection with your cutter and will need to be set up once again.

    • @HeatPressNation

      Offline mode is usually engaged to adjust the vinyl after it's been loaded onto the cutter. You can use the up & down arrow buttons to move the vinyl forward/backward and the left & right arrow buttons to move the blade carriage left or right on the track. Once your blade is where you want it to start cutting, press the "origin set" button and the cutter will keep it's position as the new origin. If you just press the button to go back online, the machine will adjust itself to the prior origin point.

      If you are printing the "image" for contour cutting, then I recommend a high quality .jpeg as it is the easiest to work with. If you are cutting the graphic for vinyl, the I would recommend a standard vector file like .ai, .eps, or .pdf. But make sure they are first vectorized before they are saved in that format.
