And now they’re both dads

"2 hours isn't a road trip there."
Confirm. I can drive for 8 hours and still by in my state. 😂 Such a miserable drive, too.
I'm in GA and it's like that driving to Florida.
Lol yeah I remember thinking that the road trip my family took when I was a kid from Missouri to Colorado wasn't bad... I feel like Europeans would go crazy doing something like that
It depends on the state, too. Example, Rhode Island. You could drive across that state in under an hour if you tried (baring road construction and traffic.)
Well it sounds like I should say hello fellow Texan only I don’t find the drive miserable.
drove from Port Aransas Tx, to Ft Worth...all frigging day drive. Now live in Ga, 8 hopur drives take you to another state maybe two
Buc-ee’s and Wawa actually have completely different customer bases.
Wawa started in the dense northern cities. They built up a reputation for customer service and quality. A lot of their customers have gotten in the habit of starting their mornings at Wawa. This is why they have so many options and ordering might be confusing because for the vast majority of customers ordering at Wawa has been something they’ve been doing for most of their life. They didn’t add gas pumps until after they started getting popular.
Buc-ee’s started in the south as a truckstop. In the south there is so much empty land that gas stations can be up to 200miles apart. So Buc-ee’s built theirselves up as a destination for road trippers and 18 wheeler drivers that were getting gas. Their goal is to convince people buying gas to spend more money and things they didn’t know that they wanted.
Northeast. Actually Pennsylvania. I grew up by their milk farm which still has cows and is used for their milk. You are 100% with your comment though.
No 18 wheelers allowed at Buc-cees
As someone from the west coast I feel scammed that we don’t have our own version. I’ve never been to a Buc-ee’s but Wawa’s one of my favorite stops when I visit the east coast. The closest thing we have here is the Eddie’s World gas station/Tesla Supercharger on the way to Vegas from LA 😂😂
A Hoagie is the South Jersey/Philadelphia name for the sandwich regularly known as a Sub (or Submarine Sandwich). Central and North Jersey has Subs. The main difference is the hoagie bun is not cut all the way through and everything is wedged in. The Sub bread is cut all the way through and has a better distribution of the food in between the bread.
We call that a sub in Washington and a Philly cheesesteak is just a Philly cheesesteaks lol 😂
Someone from NJ here for facts about Wawa!
-The name Wawa comes from a native American word for snow geese (Canadian geese) because of the sound they make.
-The stuffed pretzels are hit and miss depending on when you go, but when they're fresh absolutely nothing beats them.
-Everyone who gets breakfast gets Sizzlis, which are in the area you got the pretzels during breakfast hours. They come in many different variations of sausage/ bacon egg and cheese on croissants, bagels, waffles, etc
-Wawa isn't always a gas station, there are lots of stand alone places that people go to just for an easy meal.
-The mac and cheese is literally always squishy, but sometimes you want to hate yourself and it's the only thing that will do.
-Hoagies and subs are the same thing, but the term "hoagie" is really only used in the greater Philly area. Neither would ever be called a sandwich, like Josh said in the cheese steak video, sandwiches are with the little stacked pieces of bread.
Wawa is what I used to use for water because when I was young it was to hard to fully pronunciation water because of my ears problems.
*Canada geese
I've never been to WaWa and the only thing I know about it is that Bam Margera always talked about going there and he lived in West Chester, PA.
It's a Sub Sandwich... And here in Colorado I've called them Hoagies my whole life.
This is correct. And most people avoid the bagels from wawa, at least near me. If you're getting a bagel sandwich, you go to an actual bagel shop. Since we do have the best bagels in the country imho.
“Do you wanna add Ronch“? Love them. 😄
Yeah the "Ronch" had me. 😂
Pretty sure they said Ranch tho
@@aidanrock8719 yeah they did. Just sounds like Ronch to this southern American. 😃
@shannonshanks4078 and the weird thing is that to my British eyes "ronch" is absolutely not what josh is saying....

8:15 Never been to the US, but I gotta say that the Americans generally really seem friendly. In most of the youtube videos I see in the US, people seem like they have no problem starting conversations with strangers and even as an introvert myself, I appreciate that
Especially in the South. I got back home from Spain the other day and heard one of the Europeans on my flight asking the TSA (airport security) why they were so friendly. His reply? "Welcome to the South! It's what we do."
As an American, I'll have to say it's probably 90% of us that are nice and 10% that are mean and the 10% mean are louder and thus makes the rest of us look bad. Hopefully videos like these change that

Okay, Philly girl here. Theres a couple of essentials you missed.
1. Tastycake Butterscotch Krimpit - you can only get them in Philly and the tri-state
2. Wawa Iced Tea - personally my fav is the diet green tea (idk the diet tastes better to me), but i also love the tangerine white tea or any fruit black tea
3. Breakfast Sizzlis - my personal favorite is the sausage biscuit oh and also their hashbrowns
4. Buffalo chicken quesadilla - all cheddar is my fav but i know a lot of people like it w pepper jack
Lastly, i love that you got an italian, but personally I get an italian with oil and vinegar, lettuce, onions, pickles, salt, pepper, oregano, and parmesan. Try that and then lmk what you think.
Even though Tastycakes are a Philly staple they got bought out and are seen in a larger market place than previously before. However they also have went down hill significantly in terms of quality and taste
You can get the krimpits anywhere in PA
Lancaster County here, thus, Turkey Hill iced tea.

"I miss the old Wawa" - most people in the Philly area.
I do!
Old Wawa was prime though. I was worried when they started expanding so aggressively.
@@word42069 once they stopped cutting their own deli meats and cheeses it was a sign the quality was going downhill. Also baking their own rolls.
That meat was top of the line. The Buffalo chicken sandwich was to die for, now it’s made out of cow knuckles and chicken rubber cubes
And new Wawa is still better than anything in southwest Virginia…
“This macaroni and cheese is probably going to be bad. Well, let’s withhold judgment.” They both take a bite. They both look thoughtful. Long pause causes dramatic effect. Josh: “Soooo…..If you didn’t have any teeth….” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It really doesn’t take much to impress you guys anymore. “Look at that, a warm cookie, oh my gosh, I can’t believe it!” lol 😂 😂
As someone who watches your videos and from south Jersey, I’ve been waiting patiently for a jolly Wawa video ❤❤❤❤
Philly native here. Wawa's food used to be a lot better. It does vary store by store....but overall the quality was higher 10+ years ago, but to attract more customers they expanded their menu away from just hoagies, prepared food to go (like the stuffed pretzels, etc.), and breakfast sandwiches to include pizza, burgers, etc. and it impacted the quality of it all. Many people, myself included, are dying for them to slim their menu down like 20 to 33% or more and focus on what they can do well. And yeah, a hoagie from Wawa is nowhere near as good as a hoagie from one of the dozens of great pizza/hoagie spots in Philly (and its suburbs).
Yep. They used to slice luncheon meat to order for hoagies, use real eggs for breakfast sandwiches, and cook cheesesteaks on a flat top.
This! I've seen someone saying "well I user to serve 100 people in an hour, you kids just don't work."
Well, back then all they had to do was flip burgers, toss fries into the oil and voila done. Nowadays, there's so many different things to prep and cook of course we need more than one fry cook!
Yesss, the stuff they have now is like processed mush compared to when they used to slice their own deli meat.
This !!!!
@@trip11231 Yup. As a teen I would walk over to the one near our house in the city and pick up lunch meat as part of my weekly chores. And then in college I worked for them for a few months one summer. Hoagies were great back then. And they didn't try to make their own bread in house.
Ollie cold plunging trying to talk sounded like him trying to pronounce Korean words
Wawa was best when they sourced everything externally instead of making everything in house. They started out just as a deli originally so they used to get all of their cold cuts from Boar's Head, had their bread delivered daily from an Italian bakery in Philly (one very much like the bread that Angelo's has for their cheesesteaks) and locally sourced most things that could be. That period when they were basically a local deli in a gas station was definitely the only time it could challenge Buc-ee's. Unfortunately with their huge expansion, they're just a shadow of themselves when it comes to quality convenience.
jolly, been watching youse tour the northeast coast (nyc and philly) these past few weeks, and i'm thrilled you tried a local chain, wawa. should've had a native walk you thru things, but you did pretty well. thanks for all the jolly good laughs!
Wawa is such garbage now though. Gives Philly a bad name when it used to be such an amazing spot. When they got rid of the actual deli, added the gas stations and began expanding all over the country it took a a header into the shitter.
@@chrisdanks741there is truth in your words.
My other problem with wawa is whenever i start liking something, they take it away… chili cheese dogs, irish cream coffee, hot roast beef/gravy hoagies to name a few
@@adrock1011 yeah then they introduce something that’s terrible in its place. It’s because the stuff that ends up decent costs too much. Like I remember when they first started selling the brisket during the summers it was actually good. Now it’s like dog food cuz they switched suppliers or something, idk.
"Like cracking the Enigma code." At least I know now I'm not the only one who feels this way. 🤣🤣🤣
If you know you know. I know how I like my Italian ... lettuce and onions, provalone or american, lots of oil, vinagar, salt, pepper, oregano, and banana peppers on the side. family size mac and cheese, 24oz Coffee w/splenda and half and half. TAHT'S MY LUNCH. Now I want a Wawa and all I have is Kwik Star.

Wawa recently celebrated its 60th anniversary. Started as a dairy seller in wawa, PA. Grew into the regional convenience store chain many of us know over the years and didn't add gas til the 90s. It's an institution in many towns in the region. One of the things I've found in my 28 years is that Wawa stores that cater to people locally tend to have a lot better quality control and such than the ones that you'll find along the highway or even major roads
They’ve made their way down to my hometown (Mobile, AL). It will open this summer and I’m curious to check it out.
Like any other store that has spread to many many locations. The quality really comes down to the individual employees at the store and their management. I work in hundreds of different restaurants, including places like Burger King, Wendy's, Dairy Queens, KFCs, you name it. And they ALL vary wildly. It's 100% who works there and how much they care about the job they're doing.
@@KhronicDWawa built their brand on having good employees. They have a an employee ownership program where employees can get stock int he company as well as benefits. A huge contrast to most convenience stores that just pay their employees minimum wage part time.
Of course with so many items on the menu quality control is not easy and can slip depending on the location.
Jolly in the ice bath ad freaking killed me lmfao!!!🤣
Been waiting for you to visit this east coast staple
a hoagie is a sandwich but a sandwich isnt a hoagie. a hoagie has to have the long roll. There are specific bread makers in the philly area that supply the best rolls for hoagies and cheesesteaks
Isn't the use of these terms just regional colloquialisms? Where I am we would just call a sandwich in that shape a sub which is short for submarine sandwich.
Shut up
@@grantshardelow1522hoagie is a regional term of a sub yes. most of the Northeast U.S has a local kind of term for it, the rest of the U.S mostly calls it a sub.
We just call them subs. We have hoagie bread but they just call them subs
I’ve found people outside the US seem to be sticklers for the idea that a sandwich is between two slices of bread. Hence why some people call a Crispy Chicken Sandwich a “Chicken Burger”.

And sit on the toilet immediately after all that fried food lol
I second this
I work at wawa. It's nice to see yall
Your wonder at food and pretty much everything always brings me joy (:
I will never get tired of Ollie’s humor. Thank you 😊
Wawa is actually onomatopoeia. It's the sound a goose makes. The old logo actually had a goose flying in it.
Geese have never made the sound “Wawa” in 100 parallel universes
The goose is in the logo because it means canadian goose in Native American Lenni Lenape language. They lived in the area Wawa was founded prior to European colonizers came.
They have such a cute friendship I love them ❤
Their spring time seasonal blueberry donuts this year and last summer's strawberry cream filled donuts were/are the bomb😋
Wawa is a staple for PA and NJ. It started as a dairyfarm in PA.
I used to drive around all day for work and Wawa was at least 3 stops a day. Gas, food, drinks, and bathrooms. Good for roadtrips or everyday.
You missed some key items though.
Their to go breakfasts, served before 11am, their "Sizzlis" (which you can order at the counter after noon if you ask nicely)but before 11am they can be found ready to go where you found the stuffed pretzels. Those heaters are filled with Sizzli sandwiches. Basically, bacon or sausage, egg and cheese sandwiches on croissants, English muffins, bagels, pancakes (like the McDonald's mcgriddle)and now waffles. They also have hash browns.
The wraps and quesadillas are simple and good. The perogi quesadilla is ridiculous with sour cream.
In November, the Gobbler Hoagie and bowls. Turkey in gravy on mashed potatoes and/or sweet potatoes, stuffing (you call it dressing) and cranberry sauce on a roll or in a bowl is the best.
All the hoagies are solid, more preference though.
Their brand bottled teas and juices...super yum. The chips are mostly local brands. Herr's, Utz...so on.
But you also truly missed out on 2 things you can grab there. Actual Philly soft pretzels (by the registers usually) and Philly's pride and joy TASTYKAKES!!!
Tastykake is one of the oldest bakery companies in the US. The PB Kandykakes, their butterscotch krimpets and their real individual pies in the mini boxes are the BEST. The pies in the mini rectangle boxes can't be sold outside the tristate, because they have a shelf life of a week. They're made with real ingredients. Not the fake ones in parchment wrappers for tourists, but the actual tiny rectangle boxes with the pies baked in individual tins. Blueberry, lemon, apple, peach, Boston cream...all good.🥰
Buckees is a tourist attraction. Wawa is a way of life. 😆💙💙💙😍
You guys nailed it! I'm not skipping the ad 😂
During November the Wawa turkey bowl and meals are so good especially with the cranberry sauce added 🎉
The sauce option is very AMERICAN. As an American. I love that you tried US “BEST”Gasoline Station food
I dont know if your messed up grammer is indicative of you actually being American or not...hmmm the correction would be "the" or "our" instead of "us". Also no need to capitalize every letter in american.
@@theiceman3713you’re so annoying. US is probably short form for united states.
@@theiceman3713I think he meant US as in United Stated. 😉
Grammatically still incorrect, and makes it sound like a foreign entity. So it would be "the USA's best" or "the best gasoline station food in the US"
@@theiceman3713This person clearly said they were American.😂 And if you can't figure out what they were saying, the problem is *you* , not *them* .🙄 Now run along, "Professor"!🤡
That ice bath segment had me dying 😂
Yeah, the problem I have with Wawa is that they forget items quite often. Once I ordered a turkey hoagie and they forgot the turkey. It was just cheese and veggies.
How does that work ? I assume a hoagie is a sandwich , so how did they forget the key ingredient, I would have thought they would forget the cheese part 😅
I remember a coworker of mine that had just moved from PA, got all excited when a WaWa was opening in our town in FL. I was like “Eew! You wanna eat a sandwich from a gas station?” She reassured me, Wawas hoagies are fresh and delicious 😋 and I do admit, I love their meatballs subs and during thanksgiving their turkey& gravy & stuffing sub, so delicious 😋
Sometimes I just get a cup of meatballs lol 😆
The jalapeño and cheese stuffed pretzels are awesome. I was born in Wawa territory, I live in Nebraska now have haven’t had Wawa in years and this is bringing back memories. Should have gotten the mac and cheese with old bay. Glad you survived the parking lot. Y’all should try Sheetz now!
I’m from FL, did not know Wawa was a PA thing, originally. We have a few of them popping up down here every couple of months and it makes me so happy. My fav breakfast Sizzli is the Chorizo version :)
My PA, Wawa loving heart is so happy to see this. 💕
I have never been more excited for a Jolly video 😂As a native Philadelphian I will say that you missed an opportunity to have the soft baked pretzels at Wawa. Not the stuffed ones but the regular, degular soft baked pretzels are SO GOOD! *whispers* I like the mac n cheese tho 🤷🏽♀ lol Also, as someone who goes to Wawa frequently, ordering there had a learning curve for us as well 😂😂
I'm still holding out hope that one day you get to experience water ice bc let me tell you, in the summer time some water ice and a soft baked pretzel....MAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNN That is a Philly classic!
YES!!! They need to go to RITAS NExt!
oh my dear goodness Ollie. What the heck?! LMAO that cold water immersion. *shakes head*
I recommend trying RaceTrac next time as well! They aren’t quite as large with all those options like Bucees, but most come with a full froyo shop inside and there’s a lot of food options as well, it’s just more modest in terms of size
The punny statements between Josh and Ollie are classic. Did I note a change in Ollie's voice in the ice bath?😆
Been to both Wawa and Buccee’s many times. The idea of them being alike never crossed my mind. They’re not even in the same league.
Wawa is sort of a slightly upscale convenience store chain and Buc-ee's is just ridiculously stupid and bizarre
@@jeffhampton2767so you’re saying bucees is like your face? 😂

@@whodat9198 Did I hurt your feelings Bucky beaver face? 🤔😆😆
Yup. They're both good. Ain't saying that WaWa is bad at all, but Buccee's runs circles around them.
I've been going to Wawa all my life. My go-tos are the Meatball Subs, The Breaded Chicken Strip Sandwiches, and the Gobbler (Hot Turkey Sandwich) whenever it is in season.
Their Mac n Cheese is definitely unique texture. If you pair it with something crunchy it works best (like chips, takis, etc.)
Their sizzlis are definitely a hit or miss. Sometimes you get the last one of the bunch that's been sitting out for quite a while.
I'm reminded of a bit by Jimmy Carr.
Saying "the best gas station food" is like saying "the best looking guy in the burns unit."
wawa is a convenience store first, they only started selling gas about 20 years ago, so its not a typical "gas station"

Good information
When i lived on the east coast i had 2 wawa's. If your not comfortable w the screen ordering they will just help you out. Best ppl. Good subs. I really liked their chicken noodle soup and had a friend who loved their corn chowder soup thing. There was a 3rd wawa i used sometimes bc it was close to my home but it was so stinking busy. All of them were really busy, just the last 1 always had 15 ppl in line and 3 or 4 ppl working which is a management issue.
Jolly + gas station food = hilarious banter and fantastic episode
In NY state a hoagie is a “sub” (short for submarine sandwich). A sandwich is usually on SLICED bread. A sub/hoagie is always on a roll. That’s the difference. It’s the bread.

Wawa is a lifesaver when you go to work early in the am and want a solid lunch option for later. The breakfast burritos are solid as well.

I 've been over the country and tried many different gas station/store combos. Bucee's is in a league of it's own. Nostalgia makes a Sheetz,Wawa,Casey's,7-11,Allsup's,Love's or Pacific Market fan boy but Bucee's make's a believer of anyone who goes there.
You forgot Turkey Hill
So glad you guys got to try it! Wawa is my go to gas station here. So good!!
Ollie pushing that Borat impression 😂
"Waawaa weewa"
Your ice bath advert was amazing lol
My favorite episodes of Jolly are when you're in America! Hilarious 😂
This kind of looks like what QT is in Texas (the ones with a kitchen), an above average gas station that makes food. Buc-ee's is another level above that, but its also an annoyingly busy tourist attraction.
Yeah good call it looks like one of the larger QTs. Higher tier than an average station but not comparable to Buc-ee's.
need to try a Kwik-Trip
Love watching your videos!
In the Delaware Valley (PA, NJ, DE) a HOAGIE is a lunchmeat (cold cuts) sandwich on a long roll with lettuce, tomato, & onions (or your variation..) Traditional Hoagies include an "Italian", an "American", Ham &Cheese, Turkey & Cheese, etc. If it is a hot, like the cheesesteaks you recently tried or those meatballs, it is just called a sandwich.
BTW, nobody would ever put every Wawa menu topping on one sandwich... that's madness.
Wawa is awesome, but as it has expanded and franchised the quality if its hoagies have gone way down.
I love the cream cheese stuffed pretzels so much that I once stopped at four different Wawas in a single road trip to keep getting another one.
This is so real
good ol adding Ranch to Coffee
I mean i know we love eating ranch with everything but i draw the line with coffee. 😆
Oh man... I wish I had known that you two were going to be in the area! Hope you enjoyed your time in Philly.
When Ollie makes that uhhh disgust face too funny :PP
Alright, now come to the Midwest and try Casey’s pizza. Recommend the breakfast pizza.
