Disturbed shoots for power from raw darkness. PTX inspires emotions from harmony and multitudes of skill. They are a whole different level.
Very true, and PTX is great at it hands down. They are masters of their craft.
Scott’s lower range is a very good bass. He has ALWAYS filled in the bass when either Avi or Matt went into their baritone range for the 10 or so years of Pentatonix’s existence.
You want to hear Mitch with power behind his voice then give a listen to their cover of Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone. It’s wonderful❣️
Yes, but that is still his lower range. Check out Mitch in Can You Feel The Love Tonight.... up in the clouds and with power.
I love Mitch in that song. His lower range is beautiful.
Or his belting in the Evolution of Michael Jackson!
I enjoyed your insight & reaction...I learned a lot about Pentatonix and music/singing acapella...thank you so much😊
I would love to hear your comments on Amazing Grace. Mitch is at his finest. They still amaze me after the past 10 years. Good reaction.
Far not, it's on its way. Hopefully sometime tomorrow evening...my time that is lol.
Great reaction! I recommend Gold. Just 5 sitting on a couch! But what they achieve is Epic!
See Scott in their live version of Hallelujah clearly taking over bass when Avi does his solo.
Shall do. I have seen the live version of that one yet. Thanks for the tip.
Scott also does the bass for the entire Mr. Grinch song since it's Matt's solo.
@@perfectkismet Yeah don't know why I never put that together. Horrible inattentiveness on my part 😞
@@JDubReacts Yes. When Avi starts singing, ignore him (near impossible, but) watch Scott while Avi sings.
Thanks for an excellent, knowledgeable reaction. Good pickup, Scott has always covered the bass line whenever their bass Avi/Matt solos.
Sadly, for as much Pentatonix as I've seen, I actually never noticed that.
@@JDubReacts Another great example is Hallelujah. You don't really notice it's him in the music video, but watch the live performance and it's obvious.
There are also songs where he does the bass throughout - as in You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch.
You heard him sing prety low at the beginning of this song and I'll also recommend his cover of "I Should Tell Ya Momma On You"
Nice and warm reaction!
Really liked it. "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" gonna be the next one?
Shall add it to my list of PTX songs to check out. Thanks for the suggestion.
Simon & Garfunkel пели эту песню, я вспомнила. Кавер понравился, ребята молодцы!
Great reaction! Thanks.
Nice reaction, good "old school" knowledge! You mentioned our bud, Mitch. For high end show off I like 90 dance medley, alot of fun. Mitch doing vocal gymnastics has to go to the song "Gold." I have loved PTX since the sing off. Glad you are reacting to them! 😁😁😎 Oh, I should add they have a rule of thumb that says they must be able to sing live what they recorded. Most of their songs are 3 takes. The take they use, and then 2 that were like, what if we did this. 😉
That's awesome. I can't even do my own songs in three takes. It's more like dozens over a few weeks until I'm like, well that's the best one so far lol.
And if you want to see Mitch belting the first thing that comes to mind is Defying Gravity in the side-project he had for a while with Scott, Superfruit.
@@JDubReacts Most is the key word in that statement. Some of their songs are done live in one take... like Gold or the evolution videos or some of their early "couch" videos.
Aha cover Imogen Heap performed in Singapore Star Vista it's pure Mitch.
Ooh...didn't know they covered that one. I actually like Imogen Heap....she's pretty unique. I'll have to check this one out. Thanks for the lead 😊.
It's a fan taken video, so don't be surprised but it's spectacular!!! And just FYI - Kevin IS there, he just doesn't make it into camera shot.
I LOVE how "get" PENTATONIX and appreciate all the intricate details. PENTATONIX is by far the GREATEST Acapella group there is.
🌟 And YES! Scott covers bass when Avi or Matt have a singing lead. He has an AMAZING vocal range. I LOVE when he slides in bass or easily hits crazy falsettos!!
Another great reaction… you’re bringing some awesome analysis to the table. 🙂
I think their best work to date is Amazing Grace ( My Chains are Gone). The video itself is beautiful but their vocal, bass & percussion are truly amazing. That said, on any given day I could argue the same for many of their performances. It’s very interesting that you’re coming back to Pentatonix after knowing them from back in the Sing Off. I’m only a recent fan of about 2 years. They’ve come so far since then. For me, Amazing Grace shows that growth the most. Sure they have lots of pop covers, medleys & originals and even some rock and we’ve seen the highest of highs & lowest of lows. Amazing Grace has depth & power and the arrangement demonstrates the lyrics of breaking free, breaking the chains. And I love that they all have featured segments where they get to shine. Matt’s bass is crazy good
Avi’s bass is cannon on the early songs and I love that they’ve adapted their arrangements to Matt’s strengths. I love Matt’s voice but he’s not blowing speakers during live shows like Avi. If Matt was trying to be the 2nd Avi we’d feel it & Im sure Matt wouldn’t last long suppressing his own voice. They’re very sharp. They don’t miss details & they don’t release a song until it’s right. I recently read that they worked on their mind blowing cover of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody for 4+ years making sure it was perfect and if you haven’t already seen it - it is perfect. They pay such homage to the original recording & video. So good that Brian May retweeted it saying Enjoy.
I like what you bring to the reaction & I hope you react to more Pentatonix✌️💚
Very nice thoughts from a relatively new fan
Liked your review. Recommend Amazing Grace.
That is a nice classic song. Pentatonix has some interesting ways of reimagining songs. Can only imagine what they did with this one. Shall add it to the list. Ty!
In hallelujah Scott does bass and you can see him do it if you look at the Christmas special live version of it
I appreciate *your* appreciation of Scott’s talent. Many seem to consider him to be the group’s leader, probably as he usually opens their songs, & contributes more in interviews & when they post announcements? And I believe he contributes the most (vs other group members, in any case) when it comes to their arrangements. However, he tends to get short shrift by most reactors as they enthuse over Kevin’s beatboxing, being Mitchslapped yet again, Kirstie’s having a great opportunity to shine, etc. I consider Scott to be the workhorse of the group, maybe even its initial & continued driving force. But what do I know?!?! My singing voice could send fighting tomcats streaking away in horror. I need to watch some videos *about* Pentatonix!!
Enjoyed your reaction, new subscriber. You would enjoy reacting to Mitch’s solo of Your Power and also their cover of The Prayer. I agree with you, PTX are masters of using space within their arrangements. So much more impactful.
Matt and Kevin kill it in New Rules x Are You That Somebody.
Hope to hear you cover more of their newer material.
Hello, enjoy your reactions. I think you would enjoy their cover of “ can you feel the love tonight”. From lion king
Also they do a really cool version of a whimsical song “Come Along “
I really appreciated your reaction. I learned so much from it. Matt is a different kind of bass. He also has an incredible amount of energy and is very upbeat. He's a couple of years younger than the trio. Watch this video made by PTX when Matt joined the group and their reaction to him. Pentatonix - Introducing Matt Sallee - TH-cam
Thanks much, and thank you for hanging out with me. I'll definitely take a look at it. As a group ensemble, it's always rough losing an integral piece of a perfectly formed fitted puzzle. He seems to fit them very well from what I can tell so far.
Thanks. I just watched Matt's video.
I love the version Peter Hollens did with Tim Foust.
Actually haven't heard that one yet. Both are amazing artists.
Great reaction vid.. i dig Carol of the bells.. my all time favorite Christmas Carol... as a matter of fact..
Love the PTX cover of Carol of the Bells.
I liked the Simon & Garfunkel one when it was released I was very young. The cover that Disturbed did. I was in tears.
The disturbed rendition was truly captivating. David Draiman's voice was perfect for that version. And such power.
If you listened to hallelujah, Scott covers the bass while Avi is singing.
And also Hallelujah
Another one of my favourites 👍💖🇬🇧
For Mitch more powerful, review Bohemian Rhapsody and Aha in Singapore and Hallelujah.
Great reaction technically. Except there is no need for Matt to have a side-by-side comparison with the former bass. It's been almost four (4) years and most reactors finally respect that. Things were going well until you went there. Matt's awesomeness comes from his great mesh with PTX, his God-given talent, and training from Berklee. He is his own, creative, unique, fun person and whatever PTX needs him to be and that is not someone else. Not going to list stellar numbers here. But, "The Lucky Ones" CD with all PTX originals would be a good start with an unbiased ear.
The joys of being new (referring to myself). Yeah, I don't discredit Matt in the least, he's just new to my ear. Thanks for the honesty though, it's much appreciated.
Wow- I understand us fans being frustrated when everyone compares Matt to Avi, blah blah blah. But, your criticism seems a bit petty. He clearly stated at the beginning of the video, that he has never heard a PTX song with the new bass. In fact, doesn't even know his name. So his one comment, just saying that Avi is hard shoes to fill(obviously) and is one of the best basses out there.....how was that disrespectful at all? He actually complimented him on his sound. And the level of detail he drills down to with their arrangement choices and vocal tambres etc, clearly shows he is familiar with the group and is actively listening on the song.
It'd be a different story if he had been listening to them consistently since Avi's departure(4 years) and was STILL making a comparison as to how Avi and Matt differ- that'd be understandable. But, commenting on the sound of the group as a whole with one of th major singers gone and being the first listen without him there- his observation was completely acceptable and not disrespectful
@@JDubReacts You didn't discredit him one bit- I believe you actually complimented his voice. When it is the first time you've heard PTX w/o Avi, commenting on how you feel his replacement affects the overall sound of the group is completely reasonable.
@@lauriep2018 It is not a "bit petty" but a profound truth. As long as you are giving your frequent dissertations, (obviously) I guess it is fine. (Even some that I have "liked.") It is necessary to continue to remind people that Matt isn't trying to "fill Avi's shoes" -- nor was PTX. If there were any to fill, I'm sure they would be iconic bass singers of other eras. However, Matt's shoes fit just fine. In the words of Sharon Stone about filling Meryl Streep's shoes: "That phrasing has been taught... We've been taught that everybody doesn't get a seat at the table. Once one is chosen, nobody else can get in there." Unfortunately, no matter how great Matt is, or how much time passes, the stigma prevails ... Now that is more than "a bit petty." Finally, respect or disrespect is from one's personal interpretation, and disrespect can be nestled among praise.
Many are chosen but few are called. Lest we forget, Matt was chosen out of 50 people.
@@carolynl.higgins6206 we are on the same page. I actually agree with 100%. I think Matt is a great fit and has really brought so much positive energy and passion into the group. I actually think he's a better fit at this point because he had more of a rhythmic bass feel and that goes really well with ptx's more pop leaning style
The only thing reason I commented was because I actually didn't think that he even really compared Matt and Avi. He obviously really liked Avi and mentioned that but said that he had never heard the new guy. Then he said matt had a good voice. I just don't see where this reactor was doing that frustrating "Matt is good but no one can touch avi" cap that a lot of reactors do
Speaking of Kevin.....his solo work is Awesome 👌😎 P.S. In the live version of Halaulah, you can clearly see Scott, doing the bassline while Avi sings.
Listen to aha for mitchs high tone it’s incredible
It is hard to do, but in "Hallelujah," try to ignore Mitch and listen to the bass lines behind him. Scott and Avi build a stunning counterpoint to Mitch.
Have you ever listened to Superfruit (Scott and Mitch)?
If you want something good to react to Superfruit’s Guy.Exe is fun.
You are fairly insightful, in spite of the fact that you've not seen their amazing development in the past ten years. Please listen to three more songs before you decide that's enough for another decade! 1) They recently did a live recording of Seasons of Love for PBS' "A Capital Fourth." It'll give you a better idea of their abilities because it's live, and shows off Matt's lovely bass and Kirsten's growth as an artist and power singer. Great video, too! 2) Amazing Grace. Probably the best version ever made, in my book. Finally, 3) Can You Feel the Love Tonight, from the Lion King, with the entire group at their best, and Mitch especially. They're worth more of your attention!
Oh I won't let 'em go for a decade lol. I truly enjoy their music...regardless of who their bass is, or way. They are all immensely talented 😊.
Listen to Mitch Grass cover Billie Eilish - Your Power.. pure voice
Huge fan of Disturb's cover of this. Draiman killed it. As a result of that cover, I listened to some other Disturb performances, but - not my style. Admire his skills, though.
70 and hanging with Disturbed at all is awesome. My mother is 70 years young as well this year. Can't see her listening to them. Well, then again, she can hang with Metallica on occasion lol.
Daft punk and bohemian Rhapsody
i like disturbed's and Pentatonix's version, they both add different elements to the song. you said you liked heavier music like disturbed, have you listened to Shinedowns cover of Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd? They do an incredible job
I have. That was basically my anthem song when it came out lol.
@@JDubReacts Don't blame you one bit, it's amazing. I'm late to the Shinedown world so I'm just now getting to hear all their music. Brent Smith's voice just blows me away every time.
THERE IS ALSO AN ALL FEMALE ACAPELLA GROUP FORMED BY THE MEMBERS OF PENTATONIX CALLED CITIZEN QUEEN PLEASE REACT TO THEIR COVER OF NEVER ENOUGH TI WORTH IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAA
You are mumbling my friend. Need better sound. Excellent reaction.
I enjoyed your reaction. I love PTX. One of my other favorite artists is Frank Turner. He is an English singer/songwriter whose lyrics are amazing. Also has tons of tattoos. Could you please react to "The Way I Tend To Be".

For a different take on this classic of tracks I’d also recommend checking out the mainly classical singing a capella group Voces8 th-cam.com/video/KXJNLb71VH4/w-d-xo.html
Can you not keep turning it off till the end I'm knocking it off
I love your reactions but you need to work on your background noise every time you move in your chair it's distracting and annoying
If you had a microphone it would sound better. I have to keep putting the volume up to hear you, and turning it down for the music.
For me, it is just not Pentatonix since Avi Kaplan left the group.
It's been years. Move on.
@@liliesrnice please!
You have to stop interrupting!
Disturbs version sucks! Sorry
You talk too much.
