Have seen a couple of interviews with Dimash and I am so impressed by his maturity at such a young age. The boy has values, treats his family, friends and his funs with great respect and it's pretty clear the stardom does not change that. He thinks before he replies as he understands the power of words. All this is reflected in his music and performances. Remarkable.

@@JDubReacts Too many Russian-speaking people know what war is. Even if we didn't see it with our own eyes. Dimash was also brought up in contact with the Russian-speaking culture. Watch the movie "Come And See" and you will understand how we think about the war. There are no such films in the West. This movie is watched once in a lifetime. I don't know anyone who has watched it twice.

I'm so glad you are doing this song! I especially love the music of this piece written by Dimash himself. He really shows off his composition degree from college! This is on his ID album (which went platinum in 37 seconds) and is sung in Chinese. Keep up the good work.
Only thing I've accomplished in 37 seconds is tripping up my stairs lol.
That is awesome all the way around. Gonna have to reassess how I think of composing. And seriously wishing I had followed through with going to music school. Auditioned, found the funding, got accepted....then backed out for some reason lost on me nearly 20+ years later. And that was a two-day, 8-part audition...welp, can't change that now.
But Dimash really is a source for inspiration regardless of one's musical ambitions 😊.
@@JDubReacts Just additional detailed info. Dimash has university degrees in classical/opera singing and pop/jazz singing. And he also got a Master’s degree in composition as well. He composed a few of his songs, this one being one of them.
Oh I didn’t know he wrote the music to this! Makes sense it really grew on me after 1st listen.

This is one of my absolute favorites of his. I love every single element of this song. To me, it's his most intense and personal performance, and it breaks my heart every single time. It's also his own composition, and he had a Chinese poet write the lyrics. There are a couple of in-person concert versions of it on TH-cam with subtitles. They're worth looking for and watching.
It has become a favorite for me also. But subtitles are important to know the meaning of the song; it reads like a poem from literature, with words that touch your soul when you think about them. Dimash had the lyrics done in Chinese but made sure the meaning was not lost. It was on his first album released in China that went platinum in 37 secs.

This was a well-done reaction, plus a technical analysis of Dimash's own composition. You were right on in hearing the contrast as well as the darkness between his vocals and the music. When you see the lyrics, you will see how right you were. When I heard the song debut in a video from his concert in China a few years ago, Dimash's great potential as a composer was a revelation to me. He'd composed a few pieces when he was much younger, but nothing like this. It's wonderful and unique, just like Dimash. Now that you've mentioned TSO -- yes!
I can only imagine what was going on in his mind when he composed this. Literally finding a way to take real events, experiences, history, love and pain....and translate it in song form. It's astonishing really. Especially if I could pick up on it with just the title and the sounds. A true masterpiece.

Thank you for a great reaction and insights! This is one of my all time favorites. A remarkable song, just a masterpiece. Dimash composed this song for his master thesis when he was working in China. He hired a Chinese poet to write the lyrics in Chinese according to his ideas. (So, initially the message/words are from him, too). 'War and Peace' was first performed in his Changsha concert in China December 2017. There Dimash introduced this song, and told that he wrote it as a wish for no more wars and children's tears. He performed the song 3 times in China. And then, not anymore. (He explained that it wasn't ready yet, he had to work with it). Still, Dears constantly sent their wishes to Dimash and his father, to hear this song at concert...and eventually, Dimash sang this at his Arnau tour concerts in spring 2020. There is a video of his last Arnau Kiev concert including this song. Incredibly beautiful vocals and the stage is awesome. The separate video with subs is on channel "Kol Gerrard", I warmly recommend to watch it. P. S. Dimash always introduces this song before singing it and tells his views about importance of peace (the only song he really takes time to introduce). Dimash has told many times, that peace is one of his main goals to make music - that it's not about music only.

By the way - lyrics is very deep.

Absolutely stunning song with fabulous lyrics. The English translation (once the Dears add the subtitles) won't be as poetic as the Chinese language but they are still so meaningful. I'm hoping the subs will be added soon. The Moscow D-Dynasty concert and the Arnau Kiev concert are on Dimash's channel where he also performed this song and have the subtitles. All performances of this song are great but the Dimash Digital Show is a magnificent great work of art produced for the Dears who missed him terribly during the quarantine.
I notice the three Arnau concerts reinstated for April 2022 in Belarus, Germany and Check Republic are close to being sold out again (especially since all the Dears with tickets did not return them just waited for the concerts to be rescheduled). Ah well, we can hope he does make it to the US in another year or so. Going to his concert is on my bucket list. He's currently committed to appearances in China for the rest of this year.
