You have 2 Dispatch centers one for the police emergency number 110 and one for fire and rescue emergency number 112 (112 is also the emergency number vor fire and rescue across europe). Fire dispatch is categorized and therefor the Number and type of vehicles that are deployed. Rescue dispatch is also categorized and depending on the report, the dispatcher has to decide which vehicles to send. Either just an ambulance or an ambulance and an additional emergency doctor vehicle. Some emergency keywords already specify from the outset that an emergency doctor should also be sent.

If you wanted a more in depth look into how German fire departments work I can only recommend „Feuer und Flamme“ here on YT. Its a really well made documentary of every day life at the departments in the most populated state of the country (Nordrhein-Westfalen). Its produced by one of the state sponsored tv stations and really quite informative. Every season they follow the stations of a different big city and they recently started airing the newest season too. Not sure wether they have english subtitles though.

I would like to say that I was at one time a volunteer firefighter years ago. I respect all my brothers and sisters who are first responders who welling to answer the call the call to help you and total strangers in there community. I proud of my service and my boyhood dream. And choose to be a first responder.

Munich as a big city has a professional firefighter brigade (since 1879) with 10 fire stations and 1.800 firefighters as well as a voluntary fire brigade (established 1848/1866) with more than 1.000 active volunteers.
Most firefighter brigades in Germany however are voluntary ones, only big cities, some industrial complexes and the commercial airports have professional fire brigades.

As someone mentioned in an earlier comment here, there is a depatch center separation between police on one hand and fire and ambulance on the other side. Speaking about fire and and ambulance service, Major cities (above 100.000 people) typically have their own depatch center that is operated by the proessional fire department of those cities. In other areas you typically have dispatch centers that are responsible for a complete county or even a number of counties. Those centers are typically husted and operated by these counties.

Interesting to see. I was a volunteer fire fighter in the state of Hesse 25 years ago. ”Hauptfeuerwache (München)” has its own article on the German Wikipedia.
