Have watched this and the 50 since they debuted. Think it is the perfect Cat for Cruising and Exploring, esp. with Familiy/Kids. Imagine beeing at nightwatch, having the back closed and your kids can come help you sailing without even leaving the save Cabin - no Cockpit in the open, no Flybridge, ...... Love the Windelos
I really concur! We bought one for exactly that reason and more but very important for us for our kids to stay safe. We’re starting our circumnavigation next summer.
loved the super secure and safe cockpit. as someone who grew up in boats and always had to have the evil lifejackets on anytime we were out of the cabin that's an amazing feature
This is one of the most exciting and enjoyable episodes yet. I know the videos are shorter and then light technically flow a little bit better when it's just the two of you, but breaking down the technology for this catamaran, was greatly appreciated. Thank you for making that decision. ❤️
When I first saw this video I loved the solar and other cool tech features but thought this would just be for fun trips and not practical to live on. By the end of the video I shifted 180' around with how I felt. This would be totally AWESOME and COOL to live aboard. Windelo's thoughtfulness, creativity, ingenuity, use of modern tech like the solar and composite material used to build their performance catamaran is sheer and utter genius ! This lovely boat is cool but also has a contemporary modern elegance about her. as well. Other than a Bering 77 (maybe a 70) Windelo Cat would be my second choice or possibly a second home. She would be awesome at our home in the Sea of Cortez or our vacation home in Quintana Roo, Mexico........LOVE IT ❣❣❣❣ Thank you NautiStyes for yet another awesome and educational video from a former Mechanical and Civil Engineer (Aerospace, Automotive, some Maritime and other stuff as well) 😊😊😍😍😇😇
This is the catamaran you need if you want to sail around the world...i am blown away, i feel sorry for anyone who has a deposit down on a big brand boat..
What a great segment, to hear people doing great things for the environment, recycling and introducing totally unique products……I am awestruck, wish we have more people like Them…… Bravo!!!!
Another great video! I love how it’s a straight forward video without distracting music and complex editing that you often see, while also providing good explanation to the detail. Thank you.
I love the fact that this boat is designed from the ground up to be as eco-friendly as possible. Especially the plastic use. We need many more things made out of recycled plastic bottles.
My wife and i watched this one...before she saw the older comments, she said.. WOW.. she is not a sailboat fan..but We could crew this and sail to bahamas, dog would be safe, looked like an easier sail.😊😊😊 Thanks for the great look see
I will have to miss this one. Kids are playing soccer. These are so cool. The volcanic basalt and PET foam from recycled bottle plastics in a foam core construction. Like does it get any more ecologically friendlier than that? The solar, the sails, the semi-custom construction. That Chris White-esque helm position kinda sorta. Then the performance design. It's French and you know the galley and wine storage are top notch. Those wrap around windows are awesome. Like a Prestige and McConaughey had an ecological, forward out of the box thinking baby. That davit system I think you will like Victoria. You just drop it and then step in. Sorry I missed it. Awesome yacht.
Wow .... The hull composite tech, those windows, the efficiency of the lines at the cockpit. Oh and hell yeah to the Monitor in the salon repeating the helm station, that should definitely be on your NBBL.
@@alleycat5472 it surely doesn't dismiss all the garbage it has used in it's manufacturing to look "eco friendly" especially if the solar batteries from that thing break and contaminate the water like it does soil where solar fields are...it's about as eco friendly as a Ford f150...it's nice to be eco friendly but people need to literally stop lieing about this stuff or no one will support any movement or push for real eco friendly things
Hiya Vico, I think V had said most of the pertinent facts before you hit two minutes on the clock. A wonderful yacht with some great facilities. Take that set-up for the chain, the capstan by the helm with the locker just under the counter. So easy to work. Okay, shared heads are not everybody's cup of tea, but to keep the cost and size down... Well done Vico for bringing us this, so not all about your new toy... No head winds, and wet seas, Steve...
I really liked this. It was more technical then your other vids. Let us, at least me, be honest: Looking at cabins 3/4 of the vid, as you usually do, is not what a sailor is looking for. He wants to know how the boot (cat) is maneuvered in daily business. Most of us can not afford a crew and want (have) to do it all ourselves. So just hearing that this vessel can be sailed single handed was for me one of the most important messages. BTW loved that forward cockpit ..... really thinking about that cat.
Love the way the boat is laid out, the safety factors for the crew and everyone aboard. Love the fact that you do not have to leave the safety of the cockpit to handle the sails, including reefing them when necessary and that the cat can be sailed solo if necessary. From what I have seen here, this cat would be in my top three or 4 cats if I had the money.
Great Video for a great boat. I really like the setup as it is really working, first Windelo did the Atlantic tour whithout any major trouble. This is probably the only boat almost noiseless and able to cross oceans....
I found this one really interesting. Thanks for seeking out the details. Boats like this make so much sense. I love the look and style of the big super yachts but in my opinion, if they're diesel powered (even though the engine rooms are a thing of beauty), then something just doesn't seem right about that - especially now. So not only does this Windelo "tread" fairly lightly on the planet, but it also uses recyclable materials in its manufacturing - this is brilliant. Channels such as yours could have a huge influence on cashed-up buyers to look for boats that are not only fit for purpose, but also far more ecofriendly than many of the boats that are generally shown on shows like yours - no criticism intended. I love you guys and I love your channels and look forward to more tours of boats like this one! PS: Come to think of it shows like yours could convince boat manufacturers to be more eco-minded as well 😃
VERY cool cat. I was surprised at the performance and yet the cabins were so large. I like the forward helm which I could see would be a nice place to be for sundowners even. I like that it doesn't have a fly bridge which typically pushes the bottom of the main up so high the boat loses performance and some handling. Those HUGE panoramic windows in the cabins blew me away. They must be the biggest I've seen on any cat.
11:30 The water may be "loud" but it is also soothing unlike the noise of a motorboat. Call it true confessions of a motorboat owner. Luckily in the future even (electric) motor boats will make "soothing" sounds.
Amazing love the basalt and recycled plastic. So many great new ideas on this cat. I would love one of these in Australia. So jealous of you guys getting to sail on her
Such a lovely solar silent yacht ! Solar catamarans using less fuel & less energy make them the best live-aboard home, and leave the land behind... Life at Sea !
Really like the boat. I would like a hard solution for the window (s) up front. From a security perspective, I'd like a hard lockable window for times you leave the boat at anchor. Not just anyone with a pocket knife could enter the area. True the sliding doors and the garage door it secures the main cabin. But I would like to secure that area as well.
Chief Mate Mr. Barry... Loads of love from India.. What a lovely Cat it is... You made me wake up early in the morning and watch the entire Ep again.. Loved this Cat!!
well I,said this boat was amazing. Somehow I couldn't chat in the live chat. But when you were in the cabin I was going to comment about those windows. That is amazing in and of itself. But I was denied!
Amazing lay-out and a very capable sailor! Although, a serious improvement to the joinery (hinges, for example) is expected at this price range, but its design is really well thought out! Good job, Windelo and thank you NS for the detailed presentation.
I really enjoyed this video and I like how in depth and detailed your Yacht tours always are. The candid banter between you two is adorable, btw. Please keep up the good work. Cheers!
This is an exceptional well designed boat. It would suit SVL far better than their current choice of a tri hands down. This fwd helm is really going to take off as I see it being a real advantage with very little draw backs. Well done to the designers and you guys from naughty guys har har. Regards from Australia and merry Christmas.
I am no Chris White fan boy, who made the forward cockpit a thing, but Windelo with this design took a good idea working in nice weather conditions and developed it to work in all weather conditions, just by making that forward cockpit, which can be enclosed either to or even both to the bow and the living space behind it. Chris White's boats also are very utilitarian, but this boat is a study in great design ideas, all from the garage doors opening the entire aft of the boat to one huge indoor/ outdoor living space to those incredible windows in all cabins. If I got the money to buy a boat like this, the only multihul I would consider over Windelo 54 really is the new Neel 52, which may offer a bit more accommodation in reality. But, considering this is a ready to sail catamaran with all electric drive and solar and hydro generation power, it is a fantastic price. I also like their choice of materials and the attention to keep things as simple as possible.
Those corner windows down below are GREAT! Have not learned to sail yet, but enjoyed the design and inherent advantages discussed about the forward helm.

I love this boat! I am very excited by the new age of Eco -sailing. One question, did anyone else notice that the boat seemed to be squeaking quite a bit? I know nothing is perfect.
Even single hull sailing ships will use 2 wheels so regardless which is the high side when the ship leans, you can be at that wheel for a better view.Edit=Sorry, but I should have been clearer. It's so you can see around the sails. They hang out on the low side as they catch wind and you need to see around them.

NO ONE TALKED ABOUT THE RANGE. ?
@@khanwashere264 A sailing boat per definition always have unlimited range, unless you imagine God will stop all wind worldwide all for a sudden.
my only question is it pretty creaky underway? It looks like a nice yacht but, my suspicion is that it is very creaky when traveling?
