I wish other percussion manufacturers like Innovative or Pro Mark would go through the trouble of following the corps they sponsor to create as much content as Vic Firth does. I'd LOVE to see the behind the scenes type stuff for the Bluecoats, BD, or Phantom.
I swear I can't tell the difference between crown's drumline and brass in terms of musicality. No clue why the judges don't appreciate the drumline's flexibility in terms of their emotion just because their diddles aren't extremely fast and extremely numerous... My favorite show of the year for sure.
+hithere327 Crown's drumline was bomb in 2009. My favorite book of theirs. Tom Aungst could write them some 00s Cadets style book if he wanted, but I think he's writing to fit with the corps.
+UltraPercussion I just thought it was a little odd that Lee Beddis couldn't really continue same sort of demand, 2010 and 2011 weren't really stand out years for Crown's percussion. And since then, we all know the struggle they've faced with that section.
Hands down my favorite music of any DCI show over the years! It is just so good! Everything about it is spectacular! The entire show is captivating! Have listened to it many times and still immensely enjoy it every single time! Can't say that about many shows! Go Crown!
The cool thing about color guard is they add visual to the show unless of course the marching band has body. But on holds we put color in the air the give the down beats some flair
i was introduced to DCI in 2017 so i didnt even know the ones before but movement 2 @ 2:53 - 5:31, movement 3 @ 5:33 - 8:10, and movement 4 @ 8:13 - 10:59 are absolute fire for me. probably one of my favorite shows now
Me and my dad are Bloo fans and when we heard their show, we thought the Coats might loose to them. They got best music and analysis finals night, as well as scored second in everything else. We were shocked that they lost to BD. Really disappointing that their percussion caused it too.
cas3961 if you watch other videos, he's inside the doors of the stagecoach and it's a tight space, so there's not really room for his left arm, I'm assuming
This show had the strongest depth of concept of any drum corps show in history. In the early 2016 season, 49 people were slaughtered by a gunman in a Miami club. Earlier in the year, an knife wielding LaQuan Macdonald was shown on video being shot 16 times by a Chicago police officer. A rough way to start a drum corps season about a show with gun violence at its heart. Crown's show is a Western allegory centered around avenging the gun murder of a boy's father. (Even the cacti in the beginning poses are in a "don't shoot" stance.) At the end of this story, a son decides whether to murder his father's killer, or let him live. In the early season this show hypnotized throngs of second amendment good old boys into believing it was about simple revenge with a rifle. In the early season, many rural drum corps lunks even applauded when the son violently shot his father's murderer point blank at the end of the show. "Serves him right! Yeah second Amendment! Pass the beer!" An early season theater broadcast of the show intentionally left out any closeup of the final revenge killing-- it was almost too brutal for general audiences. But it became clear that by the end of the season, the story had to evolve in order to retain any depth of concept score. By the end of the season, the son fights the killer but spares his life, not for any religious reason, but simply because it made him more merciful, powerful and transcendant. Although the girlfriend's imploring him was hokey in its staging, (and slightly underrehearsed) the message was clear. Gunowners need to step up and end the cycle of violence by giving up their guns. And if they don't, we're going to do it for them.
Channel Three haha no way you're taking my guns. We just need to have sanity tests every six months for gun owners or something, but guns are defense, and if a criminal has a gun he smuggled, then he can kill several people without being stopped unless the police come. And by the time they do come, it'll likely be too late for many people due to the time it took.
dude why are you bringing politics into this. i'm trying to enjoy my drum corps videos not your bullshit liberal garbage. Keep this stuff in your safe space
Anyone know the name of the tune sampled between 1:00 and 1:25? It seems way too familiar to be original writing and I just can't remember where it's from
dakotah cowles your school hosted my school in 2012 when we went to Grand Nats. I will never forget the hospitality of the Avon band program (and the town as a whole!), and I’m forever thankful.
It looks like he’s using piccolo snare sticks and using any type of sticks other than matching are incredibly hard to control with trad so he probably used it to get better sound
I wish other percussion manufacturers like Innovative or Pro Mark would go through the trouble of following the corps they sponsor to create as much content as Vic Firth does. I'd LOVE to see the behind the scenes type stuff for the Bluecoats, BD, or Phantom.
Stephen A. Yes! I wish they would follow Blue Coats!
Or they can realize who the better sticks are and switch 😂
RADZADproductions FAX! No one can deny those THICC VICS!
RADZADproductions
IP ftw!! 💪
Raul Lopez what’s the juice about IP? Just curious.
It seems like even the weather was a part of this show. The clouds darkened the field at 5:32 . It was on the mark and right on time too.
Cloud was a paid actor
God is a drum corps fan too. 😊
Imagine living in a nearby house
Yeet Yoot a lot of people that live near the high school aren’t too fond of it. A lady threatens to sue every time Avon goes past 9 PM in rehearsal
@@CDAWGS123 Bet her name is karen
Monkeysgame You probably right, no cap
@@CDAWGS123 Yeah, I would love to hear these people every night. If any corps were practicing near my house I would watch.
Yeet Yoot I would actually love hearing a world class Drum Corp near me hell yeah

cleanliness
I don't think it's that they aren't clean, it's just a matter of other corps books being harder and more challenging.
+Justin Choe I agree. Even by self comparison, a book like this doesn't match up to Crown 09 which was Crown's percussion golden year.
+hithere327 Crown's drumline was bomb in 2009. My favorite book of theirs. Tom Aungst could write them some 00s Cadets style book if he wanted, but I think he's writing to fit with the corps.

I hope they knew they had the best show...
Evan Patterson yeah
Don’t know, it was way better than blue devils but I think blue coats and crown were pretty similar in awesomeness
But it was less clean and less cool then bluecoats
Dan The Crayon LOL Bluecoats were NOT clean.
Theepicr ah look the creator of the legendary Boston copypasta
This wasn't the most complex music this year, but by far my favorite. I wish they had won and think they should have topped BD for sure.
BD wasn't even close to them 2016. They had to beat the Bluecoats. It's was a 0.5 differenc for first and second place
In my honest opinion, i think BD's are overhyped and shouldnt have won half the years that they did
This is my favorite opening hit of any show. I've literally seen it 500+ times.
The cloud cover coming in at 9:46 was an awesome visual. Did anybody else notice that?
Yeah I know right
That was sick
And the sun coming out right before 12:00
John Doe I know
yes! jesus was feelin it
2:29 Bless you

Okay that was funny 😂😂😂
PuddingSaladBoy wow hahaha😂

Cloud crew coming in strong at 9:40
Noah Carr it honestly went so well with the music lol
Noah Carr e
As a 12 year old kid (now 91) taught drums the wrong way, I am awestruck by these young people.
Anyone else hear the show playing over from the start super softly in the background at 8:09 and on?
Ya idk what was going on
It was probably the guard listening to a recording of their show while they were practicing outside.
yep. pretty sure you're right!
Yeah. It was probably the color guard
Keysick it was most likely cg practicing as they aren't on the field with the band
So in love with this show! I watch it several times a week still! 👑 has the Gold in my heart!
The last 45 seconds of this show is the most incredible thing I have ever heard to this day. Truly amazing!

also sobbing at their el tango de Roxanne omg
Mello and trumpet stuff from 3:14-3:37 is simply amazing. Incredibly accurate and rhymically smooth. The brass are truly legit.
I'm so happy to work for this Band. And god bless you!!
i didnt even know the color guard wasn't there untill i read some comments LOL

@@sethgoley2556 great find
Might not be the most difficult show from that year, but it is probably one of everyone's favorites
Every time the ballad plays I get a musical experience like none other
Their nearly flawless execution leaves me in awe every time.
At this stage of the season, they could go out on an unmarked grass field and give a great performance. Muscle memory!
The Bartok is awesome.
I have watched this so many times I is so good
So this is what drum corps looks like without colorguard, interesting.
Didn't notice they were gone tbh
+Jack Mclaughlin same lol
The cool thing about color guard is they add visual to the show unless of course the marching band has body. But on holds we put color in the air the give the down beats some flair
Hands down the best show in 2016!!
Downside up has entered the chat
Idk downside up was hella good
Nah this was wayyyyyy cooler
The Good Bob nah m8

I like how the clouds started to cover the sun right as the vocal effect came in @ 5:32
Awesome editing guys!
Really cool that a cloud came over them during the ballad
YES MY TROMBONE FRIEND! High Bb to the high G. Amazing
I can't help but think of Shrek in the ballad
Best trombone feature ever. Even better than metamorph.
Blue coats 2019 has entered the room
@Jaylen Jordan *voke kick fails*
Meh something about bd 2017s trombone solo make is kinda better In terms of groove. Not saying any of them are bad their both great
THAT WAS AWESOME!
The timing on the clouds doh 👌
Crowns openers are the best by far
I love crown
the cloud knew the assignment😂😂😂
Cloud covering at 2 46 was amazingly timed with the music
Dominik Kerschbaum ecstasy of gold
Back in the day there were so many jr and senior corps where have they all gone

impresionante!! saludos desde El Salvador
That cloud timing was purty clean
Was going to comment "Bless you" but then the first comment I saw was that 😂

Great video but i wish i could see the snare cam or a zoom on the snares at the end part.
Where are de fuocking flag-wielding guardians of color
5:27 The lady is aggressive and the guy is smiling. Are they playing the same music? hehe :)
Such a nice brass band
4:56 ouuuuccchhh that crack hurts my soul ;-;
is there anywhere i can find a snare part for 11:00
1:54 just gave me an eargasm
Why is there only one snare holding his sticks in matched grip at 10:00?
no idea bro
cas3961 Looked like more than one from the overhead view...weird.
cas3961 if you watch other videos, he's inside the doors of the stagecoach and it's a tight space, so there's not really room for his left arm, I'm assuming
That opener hits different now that Morricone is gone.
And their 2019 ballad
The hit at 1:55 gave me chills
Same. Every single time
i have this hit in my show this year. goosebumps every time.
They should have beat bd
eh... in your opinion yes, but if you look at the recaps from that night GE and Percussion killed them
Yeah
They should've won
Wayne Ivy ...I hope that’s a joke...

WOW !!!
Timpani is one of my techs!
Can someone please transcribe the quad part for 11:24? I would really appreciate it
Ethan Pierce middle, other middle, far left, start going to the right, to crazy
What was the name of the song the Mellows where playing in the very beginning?
Three years too late, but it’s called Ecstasy of Gold.
Where's the guard?
I imagine they don't want to risk injury doing a run through on asphalt. It would also damage equipment if they drop.
I totally didn't notice that there was no guard until you mentioned it....lol
Starf lol you mean i marched that whole without the guard? I don't even remember it 😂😂😂😂
2:31, bless you
wish my high school band gave 100% like Carolina crown. only about 80% give their all :(
akatsukibri you're complaining about 80%? I wish my band even atleast gave 50%
akatsukibri there's a saying amongst band teachers you have to give a 120% for your band to give you 70%
I wish our band gave 50%
I wish mine gave 25%
I wish mine gave .01%

Mister Mister thank you I now realize it's from that Modelo beer commercial 😂
10:12 sounds amazing
Real question, where is the guard?
For personal use: 5:40

EpicMem he was inside the stagecoach door during the show. So he had to use match grip
It looks like he’s using piccolo snare sticks and using any type of sticks other than matching are incredibly hard to control with trad so he probably used it to get better sound
I’ve watched this video like 10 times and just now noticed that guard isn’t in this run. Cool, not to be mean, but I didn’t miss them in this run.
