"The detail of the pattern is movement' is a silly nonsense phrase from a TS Eliot poem, and was later used as a catchphrase for Crown's confused production about the hidden divine geometry underneath everything. Eliot's intention in writing the nonsensical phrase was to point out that objects with an optical illusion pattern on them are both living in the present and the past. They are both stationary and moving, siumultaneously. There's a divine, spiritual energy in things, steeped in the past and alive in the present, motionless and yet still moving, and higher consciousness and patterns can be found in everything. But the phrase itself is nonsensical word salad, and the fact that it's being repeated like a mantra is an indication that the people saying it are completely unaware of its context, and unaware of principles of drum corps show design where good design is fully explainable, and not meant to confuse audiences. This is a nonsense catchphrase that exemplifies slapdash, seat-of-the-pants design. Sadly, the participants are none the wiser.

This is by far the very best drumline crown has EVER had. They get cleaner every year but i think they really are gonna shock people in another year or so. Hoping they might win the award at finals one year

6:28 goodness, the fact that those two trumpet players played so together is astonishing considering they're basically on opposite sides of the field. They must've been like an eighth note off from their perspectives. Well done and beautiful as crown always is.

Crown always brings it back. Movement, balance, harmony. When I marched back in the day I was always so impressed by Crown. They are elegant. So what if they don't win? They're crisp, clean and classic. Always. All the way back to 2008, one of my favorite shows to date.
Honestly they're so good they probably dont even need to win. Their show is spectacular in it's own right.
What corps don't have movement, balance and harmony? They all have that.

@@jesuspectre9883 lol some more than others, and some not at all. There's some really bad corps out there. There's shows that are executed well, but are ugly to watch. There's shows with really out there concepts that are distract from the music and the formations. Crown keeps it real, classically smooth with well executed fundamentals performed at a high level, with some of the most musically interesting compositions. My point was that they're not a group that relies on thrills or over the top choreography to be interesting. They're fun to watch solely because they play and march so well. I just think in the desire to win and please judges some corps opt to try and be "innovative" which is a whole different style, that sometimes falls flat for the audience. People want to see sharp and unexpected formations, killer brass and tight drum licks. Color guard should meld seamlessly with the rest of the corps, adding extra umph to the formations and musical high points. Idk that's just one woman's opinion though.

M8 not all time, nor that year either, it’s a good show, but not the best. And they aren’t the best corps out there, now, they do have some qualities that only they can come up with, but I wouldn’t say they are the BEST, if they were they would theoretically have a flawless win streak

This might just be a “me thing” but whenever shows have speech in the show it kind of takes me out of the beauty of the instrumentation. Amazing show still.
don't think you can get better than early to mid 2000's, for most div 1 corps. it seems like adding electronically amplified audio killed drum corps. go back to 05 Crown, or 04 Cavaliers, 02 Blue Devils or Cadets.
@@MoeGravey I really like a lot of electronics, it's just personally vocals, more specifically monologues just ruin the immersion.

I jUsT WaNt To Sit oN mY tRuMpEt, and plAy SomEthIng Like this!_ " and every time I just think "...???????? why was that necessary to the show?" Like In something like Kinetic noise where the voiceover is something cordially related to the show and isn't covering any music up it makes sense, but otherwise it just doesn't vibe with me.

Hey any of yall got some advice for me? I like really want to join crown, I think if I started practicing with mallets again I could definitely get in. Money shouldn't be a problem either. The only doubt I got is uprooting the plan I got for me go to university since you lose certain scholarships if you don't go immediately. Any advice?
