I'm a soon to be a GT owner, and what you stated here speaks volumes. Sure, I would love to have an R/T, Shaker, T/A, etc., but this thing will be my daily driver with an 80 miles per day commute. So I needed some semblance of decent fuel mileage. Plus, I live in Iowa and get to experience some harsh winters so AWD will be helpful!
Great review. I just purchased a '17 Challenger GT in Destroyer Grey four days ago and I'm in love with it. This is my first muscle car, I traded in my Jeep and couldn't be happier😊
Stage 1- tornado, K&N, magna-flow. Stage 2- Ripp supercharger Stage 3- squires turbo on top of all that like that there. And all the injectors, fuel pump, refresh and such. 2019-20. Black or green. Stock look. Hellcat killer!
Tinted windows is like a drug - once you've tasted it, you can't live without it. More seriously, amazing whip! which tint % is this? Very nice personalized review!
My wife is picking one up today. 18 Dark blue. With all the bells and whistles. It is a great all year round car and a road trip car. Plus AWD for Illinois is perfect for snowy and rainy days.
How do you like driving the GT, coming from such a powerful version? I have an R/T Charger and tuned Ecoboost Mustang. Thinking of getting rid of the Mustang for a Challenger, just stuck between an R/T and GT. I feel like the GT will make me miss the power but the price and look can't be beat
@@888-o8v Not really in the winter. Summer yes i notice the power loss big time. But in Mn. winters. With all the snow and ice, and dumb dumb drivers. You can't go all that fast any ways.
@@kevinvojta692 Thanks for your response. Yeah I'm in Canada so definitely the better way to go over here. Then I'll eventually move up to a Hellcat when the time is right
I have the same car in granite and absolutely love it. It's my dream car I can drive year round in Colorado. It plows through snow much better than expected. Only thing I thought was odd is that you had to have dodge install the auto start. Mine came with it on the remote.
I had that car. Had to lemon law it for the UConnect. The dealership was NOT helpful. Then i got a 2018 Dodge Charger GT plus AWD froma different dealership and love it!
I'm currently deciding between this or an RT with a V8... only problem is I live in Michigan and you never know how the weather is especially in the western region. Clearly this is the smarter route to go but the sound of this compared to that V8 is just depressing haha.
Ripp supercharger and a Magnaflow muffler will help immensely. I am going one step further with a squires turbo on top of all that like that there. No boost from the ginormous rear-mounted snail until rolling and after 2k rpm or she'll blow! Looking at 650-700 to the ground. Bye bye Hellcat!
+James the car is crazy quicker than my BMW!! I always wanted American but settled for handling now I have a Great American car that supercedes what the BMW had!!
Congrats on the new ride ... considering trading my Charger for one of these, but not sure just yet. The 3.6 with the 8 spd. are a great combo with plenty of go for a V-6. Great cars til you start having problems like my Charger is now ... half the time my touchscreen isn't working which controls a lot of your hvac functions. My temp. control not working right .... black touchscreen also = no tunes and rear camera (not a major gripe, but would like it to work!) .... sometimes rec. door for hvac constantly opens/closes unless you leave it on rec. which I hate, I like fresh air. If they don't get my car straightened out I may just completely abort the idea of another Mopar period, for good. It's a shame because I really love my car other than the latest problems I'm having now. I'm afraid if I trade it for the Challenger GT I may have the same electronic nightmare on my hands a couple years later like I am with my '14 currently.
Awesome review. Its been almost 3 years. How is it holding up? Any problems major/minor? Please comment on reliability in detail if you can. I absolutely love this car and badly want to buy it but I'm afraid that despite the regular maintenance I will have to spend a lot of money on the repairs coz of low reliability.
ordered a gts solar wing for the rear window and side window scoops . tint out the rear window and im done.. not going crazy on it just those things that's it
Great information. Are you still enjoying the Challenger? Are you missing your 3 Series? I have a Audi A4 V6 right now, but thinking about the Challenger. So many great cars out there having a hard time making a deciding. Hey when you have a minute let me know. Big thumbs up.
I have the GT as well, I've been dabbling on sports mode, the only thing I can really notice is tighter steering and lower torque, what does the sports mode really do?
have an awd charger with hemi engine love the awd during the winter. in the sport mode does it turn it to only rwd? if so bad ass cause thatd be nice during the summer days.
+Lawrence Gonzalez well it's smart all wheel drive so it only turns on when rain snow or take hard turns. It's also great if you take off you get great traction
THE AWD IS WHY THE TURNING RADIUS AND FEEL IS NOT LIKE A SPORTS CAR. IT'S A COP CAR CHASSIS. NICE THOUGH, GREAT IN THE SNOW. LOVE THAT DODGE PUTS THE H/S/W/ AND SEATS IN. I HAVE THE DART GT. BUT REALLY WANT THIS ONE. AWD V-6 RIGHT? GOTTA BE CAN'T FIT A V 8 WITH AWD....I BET IT'S GOT A GOOD TAKE OFF FOR WHAT IT WEIGHS.
TheRealReviewz dang I see, thanks for the reply, also thanks for doing the review I'm going to be buying one here in a year and love how you go in depth about the details of it!
+Edgar Duron Yea which is very wierd since they say it's smart AWD. Should be getting 17 to 27. But I am getting avg 14 now with only 500miles on the car
FreshLawsHasToyz give it time. My V6 Durango with the same transmission took about 6 months to loosen up and last summer I was doing 24 mpg. Winter in WI is a different story with the diluted fuel.
The only thing I dread about this car is that cheap looking gas tank cover....and why does it say FUEL?....like we need to be reminded of what that area is for....JUST STUPID.....I honestly don't know what design idiot at Dodge thought it would be cool to label the gas tank door as FUEL....lmao....Be yeah bro....I'm happy 4 you....nice ride with a TIMELESS look.....the challenger styling never ages.....GOOD CHOICE.
This bad-boy is for Mopar Maniacs who want to go smart, not just fast. And who want do it any weather. If all you care about is max speed, stick to your Hellcats. And stay inside when it rains or snows.
+ranlive1 I know one of the draw backs I made on my 30 Day review on likes and dislikes. Im about to do 20 inch rims. Shots high because of the police pursuit suspension they put on here. Makes the ride softer but looks horrible especially putting a 19inch rim on!
from a hellcat owner I like the GT!
+Absolution Thank you. It's a smooth ride with a fun aspect for the winter.

Hellcat Redeye WB owner here. And my wife has a Yellow 2017 GT AWD. Its blast to drive in the winter. 14" plus inches of snow could not slow it down.

You have to get actually one with the convenience package in order for it to come with remote start from the factory.
Love the car, BTW be gentle when you close the trunk, if you don't over time the trunk led lights miss aligns with the fix rear led lights.

I know this is old but from 2011 to 2014 there was a remodeled AWD Charger RT with V8
lmao, I also want a R/T but I guess the GT will do just fine
