I'm still trying to figure out how you adjust the steering column gear actuator. I tore the column down to the knuckle. The ignition key won't line up with the mark on the column. I bought the car which is a 1984 Corvette this way. I'm assuming someone took it apart and couldn't figure how to put it back together correctly. I didn't take the spring off on that rod. Do I need to remove the spring to adjust it.
That's a trouble spot for sure. Could you be off by one notch on the gear? One reason I have yet to post the rebuild video for this column is that our ignition key varies between fairly easy and next-to-impossible to turn. If you fiddle with it enough it will go ahead and turn, but it's obviously not 100% right. Maybe someone else knows the trick to proper adjustment.
Thanks again, your videos made the difference in getting my column back together
Awesome! Congrats on getting it back together.
Your video came in super handy. Rebuilding a 1979 trans am
Excellent! A long time ago I built a 455 for my brother's '77 Trans Am. Cool car.
Does the metal and plastic part come off I'm about to build one for my 79 trans am and the plastic sleeve is broken
Hi Brad - sorry, I'm not sure which part you're talking about. Can you give me a specific point in the video that shows it?
