Right, the church at the time considered him Stephen VII, since the would-be Stephen II died before consecration. According to canon law pontificate doesn't start until consecration.. so I suppose for the sake of consistency, most people just call that one "Pope-elect Stephen" and keep the numbering going... eh, it's confusing.
But anyway, while Sergius hated Formosus as much as Stephen did, he didn't convene another cadaver synod. A historian at the time incorrectly listed the synod as happening during Sergius's pontificate rather than Stephen's.
Funny thing? "Formosus" means "handsome". A later pope (a rouge and tiara-wearing pope who wanted to be seen as handsome) who would be Paul II had to be talked out of naming himself Formosus II

The caliphates after the first four lost most of it religious authority. The title caliph became more of hereditary and symbolic title. And a lot of those later caliphates did things on the same level of the Pope's he's mentioned. But caliph is not the same as a pope. A caliph is not considered infallible and the role became more symbolic. Throughout Muslim history there has been many times when clerics have defied the caliph.

I’m not sure of the specifics here, but I’m sure it has to do with the Church’s fasting laws. At certain times (e.g. Fridays) the Church says to abstain from meat. Thing is, the law is written in Latin. The word for meat used there is “carnis” which specifically means the flesh of warm-blooded land animals. So, it would seem that capybaras, being aquatic mammals, are a kind of unintended edge case - they would seem to us to be meat, but they don’t fit within the precise wording of the law, so they’re technically allowed. In actuality, would I feel comfortable chowing down on some on a fasting day? Probably not. But that’s just a personal preference.
