12:51 funny how Modena and Bologna, still have a rivalry in the automotive scene, Maranello in Modena being the home of Ferrari, and Sant'Agata in Bologna, the home of Lamborghini
Actually, modenese and bolognese detest each other for basically everything, the most important being the eternal rivalry for who actually invented tortellini. That’s just Italy for you, where every city town or village hates all of the other for some historical reason. And boy, we love it
You got me thinking, maybe the real reason Enzo Ferrari was such a dick to Ferruccio Lamborghini (which caused Ferruccio to start his own competitor to Enzo) was less about Enzo generally being an asshole and more about the regional rivalry between Modena and Bologna
For anyone that is surprised about a war for a bucket, in Greece we had a war with Bulgaria for just a dog crossing the borders. And the worst part is that happened in 1925, not back in medieval times.
I also heard of a time when British colonists in Benin or Ghana or somewhere around there started a war over a stool. That stool being, of course, a sacred artefact upon which the leaders of the tribe were crowned.
@@Irisverse Yeah, the Golden Stool was the throne of Ashanti monarchs. The British governor of the region demanded to be allowed to sit on it, which started the war.
@@Irisverse Yeah but that's clearly the colonists being dismissive of a culture's religious and governmental beliefs, as opposed to...a regular bucket.

Fun fact: During the black plague Poland was quarantined. This means that everyone who came into the country had to wait a couple days incase they were carrying the plague. This way, on the map for amount of deaths, there was a large gap where Poland was and we basically avoided most of it
Other countries quarantined small regions or cities as well in case those had the black plague spreading quickly in there, It's not like poland did a genius move, lol. While surely that did help, it did not spread into poland vastly mainly because of its climate (europe was particularly way colder during medieval times and poland being considerably cold had therefore a lower populational density than the rest of europe (this should be self explanatory). To add to this, poland was not a region as well versed in commerce, and during the black plague, if commerce wasn't already on an all time low, now imagine to poland. Other reasons can include the fact that poland is mostly an inland country, and that it is geographically separated from central europe through the carpathian mountains to the south and by the deep forests of the HRE's northern march to the west, as well as the fact that any wave of the bacteria that hit poland, was not the first wave to hit europe profoundly, but would most likely be a more infeccious variant of the bacteria (even though it is not a virus, considering it took 3 years to even reach polish borders, it definitely mutated considerably ever since then).
This entire video just made me realise that the Capulets and Montagues in Romeo and Juliet (at least the 1968 version) hating each other can finally be explained as them being Guelphs and Ghibellines
In Dante’s Divine Comedy, he does mention two families who did exist and had constant feuds amongst themselves; the Montecchi who were wealthy Ghibellines from Verona, and the Cappelletti, who were wealthy Guelphs from nearby Cremona. This then inspired the story of Romeo and Giulietta (who did not historically exist) which Shakespeare adapted into Romeo and Juliet
The Hanoverian-Saxe Coburg Gotha-Windsors are a junior branch of the Guelphs. George I was an Elector-Prince of Hanover within the HRE (effectively a Duke). Prince Albert and the late Duke of Edinburgh were both Dukes of places in Germany.
Its all but stated that this feud existed between the two families for generations so perhaps not. I see it as one of those feuds that has gone on so long, they dont even know why they hate each other
@@jacobwilks9204 the Investiture Controversy lasted 50 years or so apparently. So if the story of Romeo and Juliet (or Romeo and Giulietta in Dante's work) was set during this time it is possible their families could at least have had grandparent level generational feud going on given that average life expectancy was shorter and people did get married and have kids at younger ages. I mean in the play Juliet was 13 going on 14 was expected to be married off to a much older guy (which honestly is very icky )🤢

Such underrated commet it is. I was literally scrolling down the comments section for like an hour to find a comment like this. But nice creativity you have.
I have actually gone to Modena and seen the bucket in person. It is in a grand hall in the city council. They have beautiful rooms to each side with frescoes depicting Italian renaissances and Roman history. The hall is often used for official ceremonies and kids from Modena are taken there in school field trips. I tagged along to see what the city hall tour guide would tell the kids and he told them that the bucket was part of the city's long and proud tradition and that it symbolized the city's prestige and power. One of the kids said it was just a bucket and another asked how the bucket got there. The curator said it was a story for another day.
I would laugh at this but my local high school football team has a rivalry with another local school, in football, and the winner, every year, gets the moonshine jug.

Fans: Make video about bucket?
Oversimplified: Seven years war?
Fans: HEHEHEHE!
YES TEA
He even mentioned the 7 years war, yet he still isn’t doing it.
