I am against human cloning-- but I still like to image Buckethead on guitar and bass and drums all at the same time-- live-- thanks, Buckethead, you, sir, are truly awesome. Thanks.
Seriously Paul Gilbert teachers you guitar and Les Claypool teaches you bass you literally can not have fantasied two better teachers and add to that buckets extreme god given and insanely practiced talent it doesn't get more from the soul or talented
kills me how people shit on buckethead when they know deep in their heart it's just cuz he dresses weird and is kinda creepy. but talent wise. you can not deny him.
***** I'm not using the term in any sense I consider to be literal. He's just insane. And the people who'm work with him tell some pretty interesting stories.
Haven't discovered Buckethead like this earlier. I listen to a LOT. Between The Buried And Me, Opeth, Dream Theater, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani etc. But Buckethead is something different. 50 albums with different musicians, 36 all by himself. He plays the guitar like no one else, he plays bass guitar and banjo like a God. He is fucking sick. One of the most talented people I've ever seen, of all genres. Just insane.
Not sure if he recorded all the drum tracks behind buckethead, but Bryan "Brain" Mantia played with Buckethead a lot and definitely aces that shit. Search youtube for Buckethead & Brain Jam... it shouldn't disappoint.
The guy is basically a one man show, just a guitar and some backing tracks. You've got to be pretty confident in your abilities to try and pull that off while wearing a mask and a KFC bucket on your head. Dude is absolutely amazing, plays the frickin'wheels off a guitar.
Guitars don't have wheels. They have strings. Unless it's a guitar car... but then it would be too big to play... tell me more of these magical wheeled guitars, wizard!
Well I guess when people discovered this video all got pissed off thinking they can tell themselves that they won't be able to play lead guitar like Bucket but they can play better bass pretty much got crushed haha. This guy plays violin, guitar, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, and a fucking banjo. I wonder what other string instruments he can play besides those?
There's a violin part on "I love my Parents", I think the early version. But there isn't any video. Check it out, at least he doesn't shred the violin (I don't think so).
This is straight up the best bass solo I've heard in my life, I love the funky sound. When I'm super rich I'll hire Buckethead to walk behind me playing bass as my theme song. Fucking love it.
If you watch to the Josh Freese Talks about Buckethead video, he says that Buckethead and Bootsy Collins are great friends. Les and Bootsy showing you stuff on the bass. I'd have to wear the bucket just so my brain wouldn't explode.
Well i guess i can give up on trying to get really good at bass now, too. First he takes guitar away now i find out he's a bass master too. My life has lost all meaning.
There's something I don't understand about Buckethhead and his look. I mean, if he wanna hide his face from people it's fine, suits himself, but I don't get the explanation he gives about it. He says he hides behind the mask and the bucket so people can focus on his guitar skills more than on who he is, but it's obviously the exact opposite that actualy hapens. I mean when you see Buckethead for the first time, the first thing you notice is the bucket, not the skills. Fortunatly, he's so good that at some point you can't help but to notice he's amazing, but if he realy wanted to look like anybody and let people pay more attention to his music than to who is playing, I think playing as Brian Carol and his anonymous face and name would have been better. Especialy considering that now, Buckethead is famous for being a guitar freak, and people are excited to listen to him play, not because he's good, but because he's Buckethead the guitar freak. So basicaly, he missed what he hides for. Anyway.
I think one of the main reasons he hides his face is so people don't recognize him when he's doing things other than being bucket head he still wants a normal life without all the fame and shit but when he puts on the bucket he's a totally different person
buckethead wears the mask because chickens scratched his face off when he was a kid and he feels very thankful towards them. that's at least the official story. for real though, by wearing the mask and maintaining that facade as well as he does the mask might grab people's attentions at first but there's basically nothing behind it but the music because he keeps his private life private and can't be recognized without the mask.
I never saw a bass as the amazing instrument it can be. I always looked up to guitarists assuming the guitar was better because you can "do more" with it. I guess I just never saw good bassists.
so not only is he one of the most technical shredder, amazing melodic guitarist, and genious song writer, but he's also an insane slap bassist? i just give up.
you should see him on stage, in the dark throwing the nunchucks in the air and all kinds of other bad-ass shit with them! he never runs out of talents, he just invents new 1's!
lo hace bien, pero no es nada del otro mundo. checa a Victo Wooten o a Les Claypool o a Billy Sheehan, esos si on bajistas prodigios. Buck es bueno pero se nota que lo suyo son las guitarras
PaulGilbertrulezzz there's a lot of "best bass players" all around. Victor Wooten, Claypool, Billy Sheehan, Lalo Carrillo, John Myung, etc... If you are into learnig bass listen to all of them and take wahterver you like the most into your playing

even on the bass guitar is hands look huge
That's a short scale bass tho...
