I love Pinterest but the amount of AI art is insane and people are constantly stealing and reposting other people’s works, but instead of removing AI art or stolen art they instead remove art that has the slightest amount of exposed skin for being ‘too sexual’
As an example I just went to see what posts have been removed on my pinterest lately and the newest one was a drawing of Marceline and Princess Bubblegum kissing. I get not allowing nudity and stuff on your app but this is insane 😭

Oml I also get this problem!! Quite a few times now I’ve been emailed by Pinterest saying that they removed or flagged an image from one of my multiple boards and suggested for me to look at them and remove anything inappropriate. I usually ignored these because, again, I have a lot of Pinterest boards and I’m not looking through all of them just to find something that I know isn’t even inappropriate. Then, every single time, I get an email a few days later saying they reviewed that image they flagged and unflagged it. It’s annoying but I just ignored them and they fixed themselves on their own.
personally i find pinterest's algorithm itself so faulty and obnoxious. if i click on a single picture of a cute girl in a flannel and a beanie for inspiration, i do not want an ENTIRE PAGE filled with girls in flannels and beanies the next time i refresh the page. i want a diverse feed on all the things that interest me, not a stream of the same thing over and over again. honestly as an artist i feel like a prisoner of pinterest cause of how paradoxically on and off convenient/inconvenient it is.
i mean, that used to happen to me when my account was new. but as i started using pinterest more and more, my recommendations got better. more training data, better quality recommendations? 🤷♀ but for now, you can use the 'tune home feed feature'.

Honestly my anatomy pins keep getting flagged for violating adults content like everyday then a picture of a hallway got flagged, this can't just be happening too me if Pinterest cares about artists why does it seems to hate not even artistic nudity but just out lines of the body!

Dude not just art theft but their new issue where if someone deletes their account, and you saved one of their posts, it will say YOU POSTED IT! I’ve gotten several copyright claims from them for things I didn’t even upload, I’m TERRIFIED I’m going to get banned. And most of them weren’t even art, it’s just a pretty picture of a cookie platter that I saved to a board five years ago or something. I hope they change this feature because I’m so scared I’ll get in trouble. Edit: also same goes for the pins that are “against community guidelines”, they send me an email that (basically) says “oh yeah by the way we reinstated it, you’re not in trouble, but if you do this again you may have to ban you.” Like bro, if it’s against guidelines DELETE IT! I’m not going to remember to remove an oddly specific post I saved a month ago.
Same! I get these ALL the time. One time I apparently saved a pin that wasn't uploaded by the original creator of the drawing and then I got an E-Mail saying that the artist can now sue me or some shit, cuz I saved that pin??? How am I supposed to know with every single pin on there if that is the original artist of the drawing uploading it? And I also never posted anything myself on there, but it says also that there's one pin I supposedly uploaded that got taken down. Thanks to your comment I now at least know the mechanics behind that, but that doesn't make any sense. Why does Pinterest hate its users???
One of my boards I have been using for years got taken down with hundreds of pins that helped me. They said that the pins were agains the guidlines so they had to remove the whole board but that does not make any sense to me. Why wont they just remove the problematic posts? why did they removed a whole board?? They blame me for 'problematic' pins that others have posted and that my account is in danger 🤦♂️
The art theft is REAL lmao SO much art is posted a ton of times! And i try so hard to find the real artists!! And i think some people obviously don't do that and the artist doesn't get any recognition 😭but i do think it is a REALLY good app for references and also other art tips and inspo

something i find infuriating about pinterest is that i'll get emails from them saying "one of my pins" (a pin i saved) got removed for whatever reason, with the option to appeal... AND THEY DON'T SHOW YOU A PICTURE? they used to show a blurred out version of it that you could use inspect element or right clicking to see but now it's just straight up nothing?? does anyone else have this problem?
My biggest issue with Pinterest is the awful censorship and the ai. But specifically, I’ve had so, SO MANY drawing references that get “removed for violating terms of service”. Aka blobby human shapes (with nothing inappropriate) being flagged as inappropriate. It’s so bad!
One of my biggest complaints is my fear of being banned for saving OTHER PEOPLE’S posts. Multiple times a week I get an email saying a post I saved was removed and that there’s a chance that my account could get deleted if it happens again. And it’s always for something stupid like artistic nudity or even no reason. Luckily, they review these and usually the posts get put back up, but man I get scared.
my account got deactivated back in 2023, it got re-activated the same day a few hours later but,after a few months, pinterest just makes me invisible to socialize with people. like, if i were to make a comment on a pin or reply to a comment it's INVISIBLE for everyone.. also when i heart pins nd comments it's also invisible and i don't show up. it's so annoying to the point where i had to stop posting on my main acc, nd make an alt just to socialize with people/post. it's like pinterest shadowbanned me from socializing... idk if they banned me because of saving others posts but it's aggravating.

One of the most annoying things to me is when people repost art and then put in the description something like "Credit to original artist! *blushy emoji*" Like, how does that help anything whatsoever? Almost makes it worse because clearly they know they should be crediting the artist but just refuse to do it.

they're both websites developed for artists to prevent artwork from being fed to a database in ai art programs. from what I've read, you can upload your artwork to the website and it will edit it slightly to make it harder for ai art programs to steal/ emulate your artwork
I agree that the ads are AWFUL because for me they always look like normal content so I click on them and boom I’m on the website the pin is supporting ( cough cough temu and Etsy)

I hate the fact that Pinterest keeps saying comments turned off but we can't even turn the comments on for our posts and what's worse is Pinterest spams me so much half my spam is them saying I got a follow and then my pins were deleted when it don't even show me the photos. Honestly, while I do hate the sheer number of AI art on Pinterest, one of the other most annoying functions of Pinterest is that you can be flagged down for "breaking the rules" by "posting inappropriate art", without ever actually posting anything on Pinterest. I did some research and essentially, even if you don't actually post something on your own account, if you have saved a pin from someone else and their account doesn't exist anymore or it was deleted, from my understanding of it, YOU can have a pin THEY posted turn into a pin YOU posted on Pinterest. Literally there's no way to fix this I don't think, which is really annoying because honestly why??? AND I HATE THE ADS. My biggest hatred of the app is undoubtedly how many diaper ads there are. Despite not being "inappropriate" they just make me extremely uncomfortable, especially with how the cinematography for the ads goes. I don't know if it's just me who hates the diaper ads with a burning passion, but I can handle most other ads relatively well, it's just the visceral discomfort they give me is unmatched.
I love pinterest, pinterest is my life. Its not just to "find a wallpaper or pfp" or to "promote your art" its so much more. Theres this wonderful community of people who are kind and understandable. Theres funny pins, theres relatable pins, theres room decor, theres house decor, and so much more

i do find pinterest to be a great app for saving pins on stuff that seems eye catching to you, like certain fits or some art u've seen. but the amount of art reposted w/o any credit to the og artist is insane. seriously, i dont know why people dont understand that the artist deserves recognition for making the art. and yes the ai stuff is driving me crazy, especially when it's making an underage character n sexualizing them, gross!

It's sad when you can't tell what's A.I and what's not but the good thing is that if it's from Pinterest, no one's really making money from those likes like they would be with DeviantArt (I think the A.I stuff on DeviantArt is bad too). I mostly just use Pinterest for what it's meant to be for, recipes, mood boards, memes, and fashion inspo.

FINALLY someoen addressed these things!! it feels like alot of pinterests problems are so overlooked because its such a unique app and is largely praised for everything else without acknolewdging major bugs and issues that have been unchanged for YEARS! while the issues have never stopped me from using the app and i will continue to use it, in general there are so many glitches and problems with just how well the interface of it in general is with pins changing or being removed yet still showing on your fyp and some pretty broken aspects overall, yet their only focus is removing and re appealing pins that are hardly innapropriate? and the amount of emails i get where they warn me when ive never posted my own pin before??

I love Pinterest but there is a lot of stolen art another good way of not getting your art stolen is adding a watermark if you can like people that make edits or gcmms add watermarks and they don’t get stolen as much as people who don’t add one❤
And it has to be very visible, but dosen't always work, there was a piece i saw with a "do not repost" wm on the side and it STILL got stolen :sob: (also making an acc bc ur shi is getting reposted is also good imo)

Dear lawd Pinterest has really gone downhill since its early days. At least the ads were tolerable or-dare I say-relevant early on. I got a badly photoshopped, uncensored hermaphroditic ad in my feed at one point and sat there baffled for a good few minutes thinking "how the heck did this get approved?!" I don't usually mind nsfw stuff but I couldn't even tell what it was advertising for! And, as other commenters have mentioned, I'm ssooo sick of the pin 'guideline' takedowns. Google collections has also started a similar purge and both are driving me up a wall! Guess it's time to go back to ye old days of saving images to a cloud account or external drive.

i wish this would’ve addressed the random reporting issue, i keep getting reports for pins that i saved but aren’t mine, over the dumbest crap ?? at least once a day a random pin gets reported and i have to ask for it to be evaluated because it will be some dumb thing like a crystal geode, or a picture of david bowie, or a hamster getting taken down for sh/gore, hate speech or sexual content like 😭😭
I haven't been on Pinterest too long but I've noticed the amount of ads just go up and up. When scrolling thru its usually a couple posts, four ads, a couple posts, four ads, etc. Esp when many ads are multiple photos meaning when I try to swipe past them I end up just swiping thru the ad. It's annoying. Also as an artist posting on there I have a really hard time getting my art noticed. On any other platform I don't have too hard of a time getting my stuff seen, but on Pinterest I post pretty regularly and only very few posts ever get any attention at all. Im just not educated on the algorithm ig. Tho one thing I will say that I LOVE about Pinterest is HOME FEED TUNING! Sometimes it gets annoying when I save one post and then get a barrage of the same thing on my home feed, but I can just go into my home feed tuner and just turn off posts from something I don't want taking over my feed. Plus you if you see a post you hate you can just hide it and say "its irrelevant to me" to keep it from popping up again. The amount of control over the content you're shown is amazing.

To the point made against ads, it is especially noticeable if you have an ad blocker enabled. Often times you’ll scroll down and only see around 2-4 full pins on your screen (on a widescreen computer, no less). If the ads are removed, so much more empty space is staring at you. Current Pinterest makes me not want to scroll down further to find more inspiration. But I still have to love it.
the problem with posting art (or anything in general) on pinterest is how when you try to delete a pin, it doesn’t actually delete. i used to post on there sometimes and when i tried to delete my pins they never deleted and this can be a huge problem with art theft.. for example, even if someone steals/reposts art on pinterest and then deletes it, it won’t actually delete, it’ll just stay on the platform forever
I didn’t hate Pinterest until yesterday. THEY WON’T TAKE DOWN LITERAL R34. I was searching up a ship I shipped when I was little to show my friend and there was a literal R34 image of them, not to mention the characters are kids. And I don’t mean just inappropriate. Parts were shown. They weren’t doing anything but still what?? I reported it FOUR TIMES and it still isn’t taken down. Not to mention all the pins I got in trouble for saving because it’s inappropriate when there’s nothing wrong with them. WHOEVER IS REJECTING MY REPORTS NEEDS TO BE FIRED.
Another thing I'd like to ad on something I don't like about Pintrest is that when you save a an artwork post to folder or accidentally save it, you can't un-save the art/post. The only way to remove it from your folder is to *DELETE THE POST FROM PINTREST!*
I genuinely forget how abundant ads are because I've been using an ad blocker on my browser for... basically my whole life lol. I also don't download social media on my phone for the simple fact that I don't want to be tied to my phone all the time, I like that I have to be actually at my desk on my computer in order to connect on social media, keeps me from spending too much time on them

Also them removing features? I work on organizing my boards a lot, and they got rid of the feature to make notes on a board. Then they got rid of the feature where you can find ideas specific to a section in the board. This one was especially annoying cus of my garbage board with over 30k pins on it. Now I can't look for pins specific to that board.
Not art related, but I usually enjoy posting my opinions on Pinterest! (Usually considered controversial but doesn’t hurt anyone) and I have noticed they have taken some of my opinions down, or turned my comments off but let people bully others as a "joke".
Or after I post my “controversial” opinions they decide to recommend me the opposite of what I agree with, sometimes even showing a meme saying how stupid my political ideology is.. maybe I’m being paranoid but I always click “not interested” and they showed it until I call it out on my page. 🤔

This is so well put together! And yes, I agree with all these points especially the AI art. The home page/recommendations are FLOODED now with AI. Its always disappointing when you do find that piece you want to pin and then 2 seconds later find out its not even created by an actual artist.
Pintrest ruined my life. I was the worst person on Pintrest as a ten year old kid with internet access. I was a proshipper, a roleplayer, a tracer and a cringey kid. But I learned all that from other ppl online and it took me years to unlearn. Im 14 now and Im no longer any of those but the cringe one. But I made friends on Pintrest, role played with them, became codependant then they ghosted me or started drama. Pintrest ruined my childhood as an artist and fandom enjoyer. F Pintrest.

oh goodie, i've been waiting for a video like this. you covered the art theft, sure, but there's another layer to it. if someone has the slightest inkling to go looking for the source of an image on pinterest (without the original post being from there) with something like reverse image search, the results are positively CLOGGED and CLUTTERED with exclusively pinterest results, thus burying the original post under pages and pages of pinterest links

I've had beef with pinterest for years where I outright refused to use it because the reposting over there is a nightmare and even my own art was reposted multiple times with no clear way to get it taken down without sending a whole lot of personal info to pinterest to prove I was the owner.... idk if i was doing it wrong or what because I never had a pinterest account but it put me off the entire platform and so to hear that it's full of Ai now is not really surprising. When you have a platform full of people reposting stolen work it kinda makes sense that Ai would take over said platform because the people posting on there didn't really care about art ethics in the first place.

Man I’ve had so much of my work reposted on Pinterest without credit 😅 It doesn’t usually bother me but I’ve seen people trace/steal my art or repost it on other sites and when asked to credit the artist they double down and say their wasn’t a link since they found it on Pinterest- It feeds the cycle of reposting which is annoying but hey at least I get to laugh at peoples bad attempts ate tracing :D

As a person who wants to become a programmer when I grow up I support the concept of AI being used to make people's lives easier, but I am fully against people using AI for creating art. I think artificial intelligence should be used in other domains like medicine accountancy and marketing and I believe that people using it to create art is not a crime (for example that trend where people use AI to see how they would look like as an animated character) but using it to create art that you then proceed to upload on a platform from the world wide web just seems unfair to the artists that spend hours to create a work that a computer can create in a few seconds.
Once I was scrolling through pinterest for art ideas and motivation and I kid you not, there were pins seemingly pointed at each other that were fighting or sounding like they were hating on the other pin and I was flabbergasted.

I love Pinterest but the amount of AI art is insane and people are constantly stealing and reposting other people’s works, but instead of removing AI art or stolen art they instead remove art that has the slightest amount of exposed skin for being ‘too sexual’
As an example I just went to see what posts have been removed on my pinterest lately and the newest one was a drawing of Marceline and Princess Bubblegum kissing. I get not allowing nudity and stuff on your app but this is insane 😭

Oml I also get this problem!! Quite a few times now I’ve been emailed by Pinterest saying that they removed or flagged an image from one of my multiple boards and suggested for me to look at them and remove anything inappropriate. I usually ignored these because, again, I have a lot of Pinterest boards and I’m not looking through all of them just to find something that I know isn’t even inappropriate. Then, every single time, I get an email a few days later saying they reviewed that image they flagged and unflagged it. It’s annoying but I just ignored them and they fixed themselves on their own.

personally i find pinterest's algorithm itself so faulty and obnoxious. if i click on a single picture of a cute girl in a flannel and a beanie for inspiration, i do not want an ENTIRE PAGE filled with girls in flannels and beanies the next time i refresh the page. i want a diverse feed on all the things that interest me, not a stream of the same thing over and over again. honestly as an artist i feel like a prisoner of pinterest cause of how paradoxically on and off convenient/inconvenient it is.
And when I search for something, I only get what I have been saving/looking at in my boards.

i mean, that used to happen to me when my account was new. but as i started using pinterest more and more, my recommendations got better. more training data, better quality recommendations? 🤷♀ but for now, you can use the 'tune home feed feature'.
That’s why I barely use Home Screen in Pinterest anymore ( it’s useless), I just search for the stuff lol

Honestly my anatomy pins keep getting flagged for violating adults content like everyday then a picture of a hallway got flagged, this can't just be happening too me if Pinterest cares about artists why does it seems to hate not even artistic nudity but just out lines of the body!
And when I appeal it and they say I'm right and Pinterest made a mistake they still sand a condescending messages that you need to look at the terms of service, no I don't I seem to know them better than you : /

Dude not just art theft but their new issue where if someone deletes their account, and you saved one of their posts, it will say YOU POSTED IT! I’ve gotten several copyright claims from them for things I didn’t even upload, I’m TERRIFIED I’m going to get banned. And most of them weren’t even art, it’s just a pretty picture of a cookie platter that I saved to a board five years ago or something. I hope they change this feature because I’m so scared I’ll get in trouble. Edit: also same goes for the pins that are “against community guidelines”, they send me an email that (basically) says “oh yeah by the way we reinstated it, you’re not in trouble, but if you do this again you may have to ban you.” Like bro, if it’s against guidelines DELETE IT! I’m not going to remember to remove an oddly specific post I saved a month ago.

One time I apparently saved a pin that wasn't uploaded by the original creator of the drawing and then I got an E-Mail saying that the artist can now sue me or some shit, cuz I saved that pin??? How am I supposed to know with every single pin on there if that is the original artist of the drawing uploading it? And I also never posted anything myself on there, but it says also that there's one pin I supposedly uploaded that got taken down. Thanks to your comment I now at least know the mechanics behind that, but that doesn't make any sense. Why does Pinterest hate its users???

One of my boards I have been using for years got taken down with hundreds of pins that helped me. They said that the pins were agains the guidlines so they had to remove the whole board but that does not make any sense to me. Why wont they just remove the problematic posts? why did they removed a whole board?? They blame me for 'problematic' pins that others have posted and that my account is in danger 🤦♂️

My biggest issue with Pinterest is the awful censorship and the ai. But specifically, I’ve had so, SO MANY drawing references that get “removed for violating terms of service”. Aka blobby human shapes (with nothing inappropriate) being flagged as inappropriate. It’s so bad!
I have the same experience. I will switch back to anatomy books. Pinterest is not helpful in this way anymore.
One of my biggest complaints is my fear of being banned for saving OTHER PEOPLE’S posts. Multiple times a week I get an email saying a post I saved was removed and that there’s a chance that my account could get deleted if it happens again. And it’s always for something stupid like artistic nudity or even no reason. Luckily, they review these and usually the posts get put back up, but man I get scared.

my account got deactivated back in 2023, it got re-activated the same day a few hours later but,after a few months, pinterest just makes me invisible to socialize with people. like, if i were to make a comment on a pin or reply to a comment it's INVISIBLE for everyone.. also when i heart pins nd comments it's also invisible and i don't show up. it's so annoying to the point where i had to stop posting on my main acc, nd make an alt just to socialize with people/post. it's like pinterest shadowbanned me from socializing... idk if they banned me because of saving others posts but it's aggravating.
i remember when i had a posted pin where lot's of people were talking on, i replied to lots of the comments but no one replied. i went on my alt and saw that i wasn't even there replying when i was. it's super embarrassing too when somebody asks me something nd i can't reply. ☠️

One of the most annoying things to me is when people repost art and then put in the description something like "Credit to original artist! *blushy emoji*" Like, how does that help anything whatsoever? Almost makes it worse because clearly they know they should be crediting the artist but just refuse to do it.

they're both websites developed for artists to prevent artwork from being fed to a database in ai art programs. from what I've read, you can upload your artwork to the website and it will edit it slightly to make it harder for ai art programs to steal/ emulate your artwork

Honestly, while I do hate the sheer number of AI art on Pinterest, one of the other most annoying functions of Pinterest is that you can be flagged down for "breaking the rules" by "posting inappropriate art", without ever actually posting anything on Pinterest. I did some research and essentially, even if you don't actually post something on your own account, if you have saved a pin from someone else and their account doesn't exist anymore or it was deleted, from my understanding of it, YOU can have a pin THEY posted turn into a pin YOU posted on Pinterest. Literally there's no way to fix this I don't think, which is really annoying because honestly why???
AND I HATE THE ADS. My biggest hatred of the app is undoubtedly how many diaper ads there are. Despite not being "inappropriate" they just make me extremely uncomfortable, especially with how the cinematography for the ads goes. I don't know if it's just me who hates the diaper ads with a burning passion, but I can handle most other ads relatively well, it's just the visceral discomfort they give me is unmatched.

I love pinterest, pinterest is my life. Its not just to "find a wallpaper or pfp" or to "promote your art" its so much more. Theres this wonderful community of people who are kind and understandable. Theres funny pins, theres relatable pins, theres room decor, theres house decor, and so much more

i do find pinterest to be a great app for saving pins on stuff that seems eye catching to you, like certain fits or some art u've seen. but the amount of art reposted w/o any credit to the og artist is insane. seriously, i dont know why people dont understand that the artist deserves recognition for making the art. and yes the ai stuff is driving me crazy, especially when it's making an underage character n sexualizing them, gross!

Apparently ive been "violating" the guidelines as they keep emailing me about removing pins that aren't even mine. And they'd put it in "nudity" when it's literally just a photo of a FOOT
FINALLY someoen addressed these things!! it feels like alot of pinterests problems are so overlooked because its such a unique app and is largely praised for everything else without acknolewdging major bugs and issues that have been unchanged for YEARS! while the issues have never stopped me from using the app and i will continue to use it, in general there are so many glitches and problems with just how well the interface of it in general is with pins changing or being removed yet still showing on your fyp and some pretty broken aspects overall, yet their only focus is removing and re appealing pins that are hardly innapropriate? and the amount of emails i get where they warn me when ive never posted my own pin before??

I love Pinterest but there is a lot of stolen art another good way of not getting your art stolen is adding a watermark if you can like people that make edits or gcmms add watermarks and they don’t get stolen as much as people who don’t add one❤
And it has to be very visible, but dosen't always work, there was a piece i saw with a "do not repost" wm on the side and it STILL got stolen :sob: (also making an acc bc ur shi is getting reposted is also good imo)
When it comes to ads, for me 60% of them is "whooo, I love that shirt design, I'll add it to my library... It's an ad"

Dear lawd Pinterest has really gone downhill since its early days. At least the ads were tolerable or-dare I say-relevant early on. I got a badly photoshopped, uncensored hermaphroditic ad in my feed at one point and sat there baffled for a good few minutes thinking "how the heck did this get approved?!"
I don't usually mind nsfw stuff but I couldn't even tell what it was advertising for!
And, as other commenters have mentioned, I'm ssooo sick of the pin 'guideline' takedowns. Google collections has also started a similar purge and both are driving me up a wall!
Guess it's time to go back to ye old days of saving images to a cloud account or external drive.

i wish this would’ve addressed the random reporting issue, i keep getting reports for pins that i saved but aren’t mine, over the dumbest crap ?? at least once a day a random pin gets reported and i have to ask for it to be evaluated because it will be some dumb thing like a crystal geode, or a picture of david bowie, or a hamster getting taken down for sh/gore, hate speech or sexual content like 😭😭
I haven't been on Pinterest too long but I've noticed the amount of ads just go up and up. When scrolling thru its usually a couple posts, four ads, a couple posts, four ads, etc. Esp when many ads are multiple photos meaning when I try to swipe past them I end up just swiping thru the ad. It's annoying. Also as an artist posting on there I have a really hard time getting my art noticed. On any other platform I don't have too hard of a time getting my stuff seen, but on Pinterest I post pretty regularly and only very few posts ever get any attention at all. Im just not educated on the algorithm ig.
Tho one thing I will say that I LOVE about Pinterest is HOME FEED TUNING! Sometimes it gets annoying when I save one post and then get a barrage of the same thing on my home feed, but I can just go into my home feed tuner and just turn off posts from something I don't want taking over my feed. Plus you if you see a post you hate you can just hide it and say "its irrelevant to me" to keep it from popping up again. The amount of control over the content you're shown is amazing.

To the point made against ads, it is especially noticeable if you have an ad blocker enabled. Often times you’ll scroll down and only see around 2-4 full pins on your screen (on a widescreen computer, no less). If the ads are removed, so much more empty space is staring at you. Current Pinterest makes me not want to scroll down further to find more inspiration.
But I still have to love it.
the problem with posting art (or anything in general) on pinterest is how when you try to delete a pin, it doesn’t actually delete. i used to post on there sometimes and when i tried to delete my pins they never deleted
and this can be a huge problem with art theft.. for example, even if someone steals/reposts art on pinterest and then deletes it, it won’t actually delete, it’ll just stay on the platform forever

I didn’t hate Pinterest until yesterday. THEY WON’T TAKE DOWN LITERAL R34. I was searching up a ship I shipped when I was little to show my friend and there was a literal R34 image of them, not to mention the characters are kids. And I don’t mean just inappropriate. Parts were shown. They weren’t doing anything but still what?? I reported it FOUR TIMES and it still isn’t taken down. Not to mention all the pins I got in trouble for saving because it’s inappropriate when there’s nothing wrong with them. WHOEVER IS REJECTING MY REPORTS NEEDS TO BE FIRED.
About the art theft and ai, I saw a REALLY cute Miku drawing that was STOLEN, and 2 seconds later I found the same exact drawing but AI
Another thing I'd like to ad on something I don't like about Pintrest is that when you save a an artwork post to folder or accidentally save it, you can't un-save the art/post. The only way to remove it from your folder is to *DELETE THE POST FROM PINTREST!*

I genuinely forget how abundant ads are because I've been using an ad blocker on my browser for... basically my whole life lol. I also don't download social media on my phone for the simple fact that I don't want to be tied to my phone all the time, I like that I have to be actually at my desk on my computer in order to connect on social media, keeps me from spending too much time on them

Also them removing features? I work on organizing my boards a lot, and they got rid of the feature to make notes on a board. Then they got rid of the feature where you can find ideas specific to a section in the board. This one was especially annoying cus of my garbage board with over 30k pins on it. Now I can't look for pins specific to that board.
Not art related, but I usually enjoy posting my opinions on Pinterest! (Usually considered controversial but doesn’t hurt anyone) and I have noticed they have taken some of my opinions down, or turned my comments off but let people bully others as a "joke".
Or after I post my “controversial” opinions they decide to recommend me the opposite of what I agree with, sometimes even showing a meme saying how stupid my political ideology is.. maybe I’m being paranoid but I always click “not interested” and they showed it until I call it out on my page. 🤔

This is so well put together! And yes, I agree with all these points especially the AI art. The home page/recommendations are FLOODED now with AI. Its always disappointing when you do find that piece you want to pin and then 2 seconds later find out its not even created by an actual artist.

Pintrest ruined my life. I was the worst person on Pintrest as a ten year old kid with internet access. I was a proshipper, a roleplayer, a tracer and a cringey kid. But I learned all that from other ppl online and it took me years to unlearn. Im 14 now and Im no longer any of those but the cringe one. But I made friends on Pintrest, role played with them, became codependant then they ghosted me or started drama. Pintrest ruined my childhood as an artist and fandom enjoyer. F Pintrest.

I don’t get a lot of art on my Pinterest since I usually only use it to look at irl references and bases, so I don’t get any AI on it, I didn’t realize it was a big issue on Pinterest. Art theft has been WAY more obvious, especially since so many of my artists friends have dealt with it 😔😔😔

oh goodie, i've been waiting for a video like this. you covered the art theft, sure, but there's another layer to it. if someone has the slightest inkling to go looking for the source of an image on pinterest (without the original post being from there) with something like reverse image search, the results are positively CLOGGED and CLUTTERED with exclusively pinterest results, thus burying the original post under pages and pages of pinterest links

An AI trained to inspect art and come to conclusion if the art was stolen or not and take down the post of the art theft would be pretty cool tbh

the reposting art theft is honestly terrible! i saw a pin where countless people in the comments (respectfully) said that the original artist didn't want their art reposted, but NO JOKE this poster had the audacity to reply to the comment directly saying : "i don't care
My experience as an artist has only been positive but the amount of Ai art is abundant.
I've had beef with pinterest for years where I outright refused to use it because the reposting over there is a nightmare and even my own art was reposted multiple times with no clear way to get it taken down without sending a whole lot of personal info to pinterest to prove I was the owner.... idk if i was doing it wrong or what because I never had a pinterest account but it put me off the entire platform and so to hear that it's full of Ai now is not really surprising. When you have a platform full of people reposting stolen work it kinda makes sense that Ai would take over said platform because the people posting on there didn't really care about art ethics in the first place.

wow I had no idea so much people had so much issues with pinterest. I don't suffer from any of these things like ads or getting flagged for violating guidelines. Maybe cuz I'm a non artist user? I mostly use it for study motivation and outfit inspo and stuff I might want. This is a real eye opener

i never saw ai art on pinterest but its prob bc i have mostly memes comics and miniature/aesthetic and it's true a lot of art is not credited and it makes me said honestly as a fellow artist but i mostly agree with you and yeah some times pinterest can be pretty annoying

Personally, I will use AI art as a reference for character design and occasionally colors and style inspo. Obviously, I dont like its existence but if it's there and I find it useful, I might as well use it. Steal back from stealers!

It doesn’t usually bother me but I’ve seen people trace/steal my art or repost it on other sites and when asked to credit the artist they double down and say their wasn’t a link since they found it on Pinterest-
It feeds the cycle of reposting which is annoying but hey at least I get to laugh at peoples bad attempts ate tracing :D
Honestly you do sponsors in one of if not the most tolerable way i've seen. Some people do "subtle sponsor transitions" and I hate it
This made me actually start uploading to pinterest, ive thought about it so so many times, but honestly, same, theres so many little things wrong with it but it truly is my go to place and at worst ive still been able to find the artist via reverse image search
As a person who wants to become a programmer when I grow up I support the concept of AI being used to make people's lives easier, but I am fully against people using AI for creating art. I think artificial intelligence should be used in other domains like medicine accountancy and marketing and I believe that people using it to create art is not a crime (for example that trend where people use AI to see how they would look like as an animated character) but using it to create art that you then proceed to upload on a platform from the world wide web just seems unfair to the artists that spend hours to create a work that a computer can create in a few seconds.
Once I was scrolling through pinterest for art ideas and motivation and I kid you not, there were pins seemingly pointed at each other that were fighting or sounding like they were hating on the other pin and I was flabbergasted.

My Pinterest is mostly historical images so I have barely any Ai there. It’s my little autism hub, since I’m absolutely obsessed with anything from the 19th to the early 20th century. It’s also a great way to be introduced to new stuff!
Honestly AI art is the BANE of my existence on pinterest-i use pinterest to help find ideas for my monster high ocs + learning in general how to draw in the monster high art style and all i can find is AI art and it drives me INSAINE
