  • I had the opportunity to ride the latest Can Ams up at Area 27. First time ever the track has had three wheels. Was it fun? Thanks to Greater Vancouver Powersports for providing the Can Ams.

    I sneered at the Can Am for years. Then the F3 came out. Hmm.....then the F3S Roadster came out. I currently own an F3S and a Honda VTX 1800. Love em both for different reasons. Very different machines, glad to have both. 🤘

    I am a bigger guy myself and think I would also be more comfortable on a Spyder. However, I really like the look of the Ryker and it’s much more affordable. The price of the Spyders puts me off.

    • @leeridefar
      @leeridefar  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once you add bags to the Ryker the size increases and you won’t look so big on it. I like the Ryker better as it’s more nimble. The 900cc has very close acceleration and speed to the Spyder.

      I have a f3 limited. I'm 6' 1" 220 lbs. The f3 is a better and more comfortable choice for big guys, you also have more power than the Ryker (1330cc engine on the f3).

    I noticed the Spyder you rode was a F-3 standard..the base model....I would like to see you do another run...but..on a F-3 Sport with upgraded shocks...sway bar.. exhaust...and a ECU tune...and give a review...that would be interesting to see.

    • @leeridefar
      @leeridefar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did have an F3S but couldn’t get it to the track in time. I agree it would have been great have that out there. Taking the traction control off would have been great. However the three wheels does limit you’re traction. It’ll never be able to corner as good as four or two wheels.

    Would’ve loved to see the Ryker view of the Spyder. I still like the Spyder over the Ryker, the comfortability and customization on the Spyder are endless and they look good- really haven’t found a customized Ryker to change my mind lol, great vid thx

    Well, that was fun... That inside front wheel lifting in the corners must take some getting used to. I wonder what a model a Ford grill and hood would look like on the front of the RYKER, a little custom touch?

    • @leeridefar

      You would need someone to Photoshop that Grill. Add a few different angles too.

    What’s faster around the track, the Riker or the F3?

    • @leeridefar
      @leeridefar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It would really depend on the rider. While the Ryker has a smaller engine it is lighter. The F3 is stronger but heavier. Tough call… more research needed :D

    Cool video! At 53, 6’5”, and 240# I believe the spyder would probably be a better choice for me. Not really sure, never ridden before but it has been on my wish list for well over 40 years. When I was younger, getting my career off the ground always seemed to be my focus, then as I got older couldn’t get into the 3-day course, always booked up. Now as a live in caregiver for both my parents, I can’t take the time away from the house to do it. Someday before it’s too late I’d really like to try it and see if I’d enjoy riding as much as I think I would.

    • @leeridefar
      @leeridefar  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Rick. You’d fit the Spyder much better. If you can manage the time off, come on out. If not, they’ll always be riding later on. It’s not going anywhere.

      Lee RideFar Thank you so very much Lee! Yeah I thought watching the video it appeared I would fit the Spyder the best. Unfortunately I don’t live anywhere near there, I live in a very rural part of Michigan, a couple hundred miles from the nearest city so it makes getting into a program very difficult. Thank you again and I’ll keep enjoying your fantastic videos!

      Get the f3 limited. It's fully loaded with options, plenty of customization options. I'm 59 6'1 220lbs. I mulled around about getting a spyder RT, but it looks too bulky. The f3 is the best looking spyder, it has more of a sporty/cruiser/bagger look.

    • @leeridefar
      @leeridefar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. The physics of three wheels on spirited cornering isn’t enjoyable. It’s an easy going machine that prefers straight line acceleration or speed.

      Power to weight doesn't matter when the gearing is too tall to efficiently use the power it has

  • @chadcollier5865

    The worst thing about these things is they're underbuilt and not performance minded in any way. I would love for them to build one worthy of a corner or a straight

    • @leeridefar
      @leeridefar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The physics of three wheels really works against you in higher speed corners. Yamaha addressed this with the Yamaha Niken. So that would be your cornering performance three wheeler.

    • @elbowsout6301
      @elbowsout6301 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leeridefar Have you ridden the Niken? My Spyder RTS just died a horrible fiery death and I was considering a Niken GT as a replacement for it. I would be curious to hear your thoughts on the Niken.

    • @leeridefar
      @leeridefar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elbowsout6301 I have not. They’re pretty rare so I have not been able to get my hands on one. They are heavier which is ok since you’re coming from a Spyder. The telescoping wheel will require you to retrain yourself on riding. If you’re a motorcycle rider, no problem. If you haven’t ridden a motorcycle you’ll need to get used to counter steering. It’s a Yahama so it will be quality so if you get one. Let me know!
