    AUTHOR'S NOTES AND DONATION LINKS:
    At the end of the video I suggest some content creators that serve as better alternatives to Isaac's content. While these creators may be far from perfect, I think they're far more suitable examples of traditional masculinity used for positive reasons. I specifically used examples of traditional masculinity because that's the niche Isaac supposedly fills, so I wanted to highlight that masculinity doesn't always have to be advocated for with the hatred Isaac thinks it does.
    I should also be clear that I'm not shaming Isaac for not going to the gym or looking like a bodybuilder. It's not about that. I'm more concerned with how he cynically employs one of my favourite hobbies in order to lend more credibility to his anti-woke hate preaching, and gain esteem from effort he never put in to begin with.
    There are plenty of decent role models filled with integrity out there, so let's make sure to share as many as we can!

    I can’t believe I used to watch this guy. I still remember the day I stopped as he reacted and full on body shamed an overweight woman, however this woman’s overweightness clearly came from her loose skin, meaning she had put in tons of work to better herself and get in shape, only for this tosser to bully her. That’s when I realised it doesn’t matter what the people he criticises do, he just wants to get mad and his audience also just want to get mad and have people to project their own issue onto.
    So yeah not the best guy.

    Good video, and actually, I see this all the time - projected self-loathing and leveraging it as a standard.
    Not being fat anymore doesn't mean you stop being a resentful fat kid.
    Not being a virgin anymore doesn't mean you stop being a hateful incel.
    Being able to pass doesn't stop you being that hypervigilant hypercritical egg.
    Glowing-up doesn't stop ugly behavior or thinking.
    Getting rich doesn't endow you with class or taste.
    etc.
    Also, the gym videos not getting views is a classic case of people in communities like this not wanting to be reminded of the standards they don't live up to, and only wanting to see OTHER PEOPE failing to do so. They dont' want hope, they want hate. Its a cope. Its catharsis.

Only this is a healthy bedrock upon which you can build the best version of yourself. Anything else is a house built on sand.

    Oh I'd also just say I'm a 10 without even thinking about it. I mean if we're reducing a person to an arbitrary number I might as well give myself the highest number possible, right? It's the fastest way of highlighting how stupid and pointless the whole exercise is in any social setting where there's 1 or more people who are inclined to think of beauty in mathematical terms. It's not like they're going to bother trying to explain why I am, in fact, not "a 10", that'd just make them come off as an asshole to everyone listening. If, on the other hand, I try to explain my actual thoughts on the whole 10 point scale thing and why it's bad I might come off as a huge nerd. And being a huge nerd in many social situations may very well be worse than being an asshole of equal size.
    I AM a 10 and if you think of yourself as less than a 10 - you're thinking wrong, get well soon.

I can't trust these schematic workout things to not include leg workouts that are impossible for me to do without harming myself due to my knee arthritis. Training is connected to harm in my head already because it is so painful and from all the passing out while doing it, but I want to build at least a bit of muscle.

    Thank you for this video! It's so important to talk about this. I'm so done with men (though it's not only men ofc) hating on women's (again, not only) bodies, behaviour or whatever the hell they feel like at the time and never facing any consequences to their actions. They are already talking from the position of privilege and the fact that they have to put people down because of their personal insecurities or to gain money, respect, popularity etc. is just so disgusting to me. I wonder what could be done to stop or combat this, it's scary how normalized it has become.

    • @zofka9894
      @zofka9894 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And also, these creators not only project their insecurities on their 'targets', but also their audiences (which I guess is mostly men), not only making them suffer, but potentially creating this never-ending cycle of hate towards both themselves and 'others'. It's so sad and I really see that there is not many alternatives to this type of content (at least in terms of content directed at men), especially ones that would be at the same level of entertainment. But maybe I'm a bit of a doomer here and there is? I just haven't seen it that much, so I'm not surprised young men gravitate toward this.

    Hello. I'm a fan of Isaac Butterfield, and I clicked on the video, because I was curious what you have to say. Firstly, I apologize for all the Isaac Butterfield fans storming the comments who are just mindlessly accusing you of being "woke". I hate when fans of a person I like act like immature babies. Secondly, I completely understand your dislike towards Isaac Butterfield. He's definitely an acquired taste, and I could understand being turned off by his content. Personally, as a person who's not only fat, but currently making measures to prevent sleep apnea, I honestly enjoy the way that Isaac calls out the hypocrisy of the body positivity movement, and I personally his blunt and sarcastic sense of humor. But at the same time, I like how in depth you go with this video (I genuinely didn't know about the workout program and his stint with epilepsy), and how you recommend alternatives to his content. They seem like genuinely cool people, and I always appreciate seeing people boost other channels. So yeah, just wanted to give my opinion, apologize for some of the more toxic Butterfield fans. Have a lovely day.
    Also, yeah you're not missing much with the Whatever Podcast. From what little I've seen of it, it's pretty much just vapid brainrot. Sydney Watson actually made a pretty good video on the Whatever Podcast called "Making hot girls look dumb for views".

    Great video! Always excited to see a new upload from this channel. Im a (cis) woman and I disagree with most of what I've heard from those alpha male/misogynist influencers. They're in their own little echo chamber and focus on reinforcing opinions that serve them and their biases. And profit madly bc people flock to echo chambers.
    But I can understand a little why some of their audiences might be there
    They were obviously wrong to bully that girl and fat people in general. But fat activism/acceptance has aligned itself with genuinely progressive movements. And leftists who do speak against fat acceptance get harassed by other leftists who aren't educated in how obesity is unhealthy and that "fat activists" have lied, co opt, and dilute real movements against issues like racism for their own selfish purpose.
    Most people recognize the truth that excessive fat is unhealthy and when they see fat acceptance being peddled as a civil rights issue I see them start to write off actual progressive issues. So I think at least some of the audience is there because on that subject at least they are hearing something closer to the truth, and mix up brutal honesty and bullying
    Id recommend channels like Sam at every size, the body honesty project, Nadya nymph, funtie times as channels from a women's perspective that challenge the fat acceptance movement in depth without becoming bullying.

    • @datamale
      @datamale  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I absolutely agree!
      There are a lot of valid critiques of the fat acceptance movement to be made, for example their reductive attitudes towards disability that often exclude other people because they aren't the "right" kind of disabled for their movement.
      This video originally started as a piece on the issues with the so-called "Anti-Fat Acceptance Movement" and how a valid criticism can pave the way for more nefarious intentions to seep through instead. That's how I found Isaac's content in the first place.
      I was so overwhelmed with disgust for how he appropriates gym culture that I just had to make a separate video for him instead.

Just because I have certain perspective doesn't mean I believe everyone else SHOULD share my view. Personally I operate with the understanding that different people have different understandings of gender. for some it's that gender correlates strictly with sex and for some it doesn't. I happen to somewhat agree with the understanding of gender as a concept. people think differently, some more traditional and some more progressive and neither one should be forced to change their mind. I just used "cis" because I initially was going to mention something related and thought it would be good clarification for the subject, but then i didn't. I just used a word that can sometimes be useful. Youre the one who seems to want to force your preferred language onto me bc you had a breakdown over my own use of a word.

      @johnnytower6169 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Shutt1ngupn03 I stopped reading cos you contradicted yourself. I read your whole reply because it was directed at me. It’s like when someone says “I can’t stand people with dogmatic views” and then says “calling a woman a chick, even if it’s done affectionately is a sexiest and I can’t be around them”. I’ll just walk away and shake my head
      I don’t care about people’s feelings around their gender they can be who they want, but I won’t change my everyday language over them either. Dress and be who you want as long as I and others don’t have to change or make concessions not provided to others
      Besides the outcomes for people who transition are much worse than other members of society, most countries who officially supported transition now do not and I myself believe that encouraging a mental disorder is cruel and shows a weakness of character that would rather not rock the boat and even make concessions that effect the majority others rather than cause conflict with a tiny group of people with a disorder
      Sometimes you need to be cruel to be kind, a fathers kind of love as it were. And I think challenging this ridiculous social trend with protect more than it harms

      I count Isaac's content as bullying because it only serves to put people down. He's going looking for fat people trying to be confident in themselves and be comfortable in their own skin (NOT GLORIFYING OR ADVOCATING FOR OBESITY OR SAYING IT'S HEALTHY), and he then takes it upon himself to essentially say "here's why you shouldn't be confident in how you currently look". I think encouraging health is fine, I do it too. But Isaac just says "lose weight" after mocking these people, which science has demonstrated only pushes people further into unhealthy habits. There's studies in my resource doc in the description that go into more detail on this.
      Isaac needs to demonstrate that he values fitness because otherwise, his words are completely meaningless. It's all well and good for Isaac to say "go to the gym" to a fat person, but if he isn't putting himself out there and standing by what he says, why should we listen to him?
      Considering Isaac started a movement to reintroduce masculinity, and constantly makes fun of men who aren't "masculine enough" and how men have been abandoned, you would expect him to stick by the movement he started as a solution to these problems, no?
      It's for all of these reasons that I think there are far better channels that fill every need Isaac's content might meet.
      Noel Deyzel is for the gym bros, and Obesetobeast is there for health advice and videos against the Fat Acceptance movement. These guys put their money where their mouth is, which is something Isaac has so far failed to do.

    At 26 I’d let my fitness go, I had a small child with another on the way and needed to get out of my dead end job and poor housing. I joined the navy to achieve that
    I was smashed from day one, there were no excuses accepted, we did “just get in the gym and push ourselves”. Nobody got injured so badly that they had to drop out or not pass out of recruit school
    My mental resilience built with my physical fitness too
    Sounds like you don’t know much about getting hard, mentally or physically

    but to be honest i think there was a time where this kind of content was necessary to stop the public from believing its not only okay but good to be overweight (for whatever reason). But now people are alot more aggressive against overweight people/woman, and I also see it as a self own when you act that way. Also I think some girls on social media provocate this kind of response (not in this video but there are those on tiktok)

      Many people who are overweight can stick to diets, eat healthy and exercise but without additional outside intervention even a weight loss professional found themselves unable to fix themselves after gaining weight.
      The body will literally slow their metabolism to the point where some can't eat more than 800 calories a day without gaining fat from it.
      It's fighting nature, you'd be better off trying to go on a fast to fix mental health: not because it works, but because it at least the person doing it will believe it worked.

      @@johntodd6413 "can stick to diets, eat healthy and exercise". No: Calories in calories out. Its simple, either they have the willpower to change or they dont. Its not that difficult to change your weight but people become p**ys these days. If you have mental problems and eat because of that i respect that than its not your fault. Then fix the mental problems while fixing your body. If we dont say it that clear people will drown in their pitty party. People NEED to recognize what they are capable of if they take control of their mind. I feel sorry for overweight people but I dont agree that its not their fault and that they cant change it for reason X Y

      But tbh I think it was only ever a tiny amount of social media people that ever tried to make out it’s ok to be fat. And those people would not be affected by people trying to ‘change this narrative’ because they’re at an extreme. So instead, it was just normal overweight people who already struggled with societal shame getting dogged on more and more for no reason. This has also coincided with a huge rise in eating disorders and I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
