- People like Brent at PFI Speed are the heart and soul of the sport of racing we love so much. He pours everything he has into it and now his kids take part along side him. Unfortunately in 2020, Brent received a letter from the EPA. They fined him $180,000 and want him to stop modifying vehicles. It's an ongoing battle that Brent tells in much greater detail in the video.

He says TH-cam saved his butt. We have to be honest here though, Brent saved himself by building a genuine fan base and having one of the most contagious positive attitudes. Guy never gives up and is always helping others.

The fact that Brent has to fight his tears while speaking about this is absolutely heartbraking. All the comments say it, it is a fact, he is the nicest guy and his team, PFI speed is the nicest group of guys today in the tuning world. I just have no words. Brent is one of my best friends and is just a all around great person. What has happened to him just isn’t right, I have contacted my congressman more than once I would encourage you to do the same. We gotta save our rights to work on our hot rods.
Racing just has to go underground again. Not that we shouldn't fight but we need to also face the reality that money and interests control the politicians --- far more than even in the past. Corruption is blatant and in-your-face, and nothing gets done. Both "sides" are complicit. The grander green agenda international global government scam is bigger than contacting congressman at this point.
The answer is to be the change you want to see. So it starts with the local communities to simply not comply. Even if consequences become inevitable.

I think they do make good money, otherwise the EPA wouldn't take notice. I think they just take all that money they make and put it right back into the cars and projects they have...so yes, they do make alot of money, and aren't just getting by.
Watching Brent take on Kyle and them both growing and evolving, too going miles and miles with his sons and then always joining up with cleetus and all the Florida boys is the best thing ever.

Brent is a real passionate enthusiast and a treasure to the car community.
I enjoy his stuff, but it is funny to see him doing street drives in race cars over a week and then claim he doesn't do that. Also, the climate change argument is tired and does nothing for his position. The faster we get people to switch to electric, the easier it'll be for us to keep our race cars and toys on the road and under the radar from authorities. Bringing divisive politics into this will also alienate enthusiasts who truly need to be unified to get legislation passed.

It's not just the epa. These laws have been on the books for a long time just not enforced until this administration ordered them to go after us, which they might just need the money or they really think they are saving the planet my bet is money. These shops are easy targets that don't have the money to put up a big fight they generally just pay.
Most ship companies are owned by very wealthy people (would even say the ones controlling the puppets below them). So no one is going after them, because they have control. And this is very smart, you control the world transport and the economy. Just like the banks. This is the start of the end.
many of them are officially ran out of other countries to dodge taxes, they wouldn't follow US emissions laws even if the gov't tried.

Millions* of cars 24/7. 1 large cruiseliner travelling 24,000 miles is the equivilent to nearly 40,000,000 cars running for an entire year.
So even if 1 large cruiseliner was decomissioned, it would be the equivilent of stopping all the cars in the UK roads combined forever.

I Love all Brents/PFI's content! Cleetus, boosted boys and a bunch of other US creators. If the land of the free cant bring the awesome vibes and content who will? I'm from New Zealand and have been following these channels for years, I love and respect the work these amazing people do. I couldn't imagine their videos without the petrol/diesel engines that so many of us love too see. This motor community isn't going anywhere! We are here to stay and this is our passion. Much love too all of our car community, keep it up, our petrol/diesel heads. This is our love and right.
Seeing Brent on the verge of crying for 15 minutes was not fun. But I'm really happy that you guys are shedding a light on his work and his struggles.
It's honestly a tough watch. The dude is just so passionate, as many of us are about cars, but we're not the ones being targeted by the government. Not yet anyway.

It really is a art form I agree but I see why the government is cracking down on this stuff. 1 is they are pushing the EV but also because the car community has some bad apples, running from cops causing a high speed chase causing accidents, injuries or even deaths. Street racing is alot of fun but it's also a controversial way of racing since half the world likes it and the other half hates it because they only see the bad side of it and unfortunately negativity most of the time out shines the good in today's world. If they do away with gas engines it will only be a matter of time before we start modding EVs

Family sedan EV's accelerate like hypercars already right out of the box, no mods needed. If anything, EV's will make the street racing scene even more dangerous because they're faster, heavier and harder to stop.

Geoff from Full Race had a podcast about this very same topic a few months ago. He spoke about how he had to pivot from his previous buisiness model (building/designing turbo exhaust manifolds) to his current one, basically selling OEM turbos and parts. It's a sad state of motorsports, where legends like Geoff Raicer/Full-Race have to reinvent themselves and watch their childhood dreams (grassroots racer) go down the drain. Fingers crossed that our hobby can be saved.

A company as widespread and recognized as 1320video, stepping into broadcasting these outrageous acts by government agencies, really DOES help the cause. We all need to stand together and do what we can, no matter how small, to fight these ridiculous over reach of power.

Last night a watched guys in syria refining petrol diesel and kerosene in huge drims in the desert and burning off the residue and it was bad, real bad but they have to do it to survive and provide, these EPA morons need to see some of tis sort of thing to realise that a few race cars aren’t even a drop in the bucket compared to what is happening elsewhere. How is your money going to help or stop it anyway. Highway robbery sums it up.

People have been doing the same things he does for decades, the EPA is just starting to crack down on it now. So why would he need to hide anything if what he is doing has been done a million times before? Brent is a smart guy, but denying the EPA that info would have led to them coming at him way harder and I doubt he would still be able to do what he does. The reason he hasnt heard from the EPA in over a year is because he gave them what they asked for. Had he not they would have been on his property with the swat team like he said doing whatever they want to his shop. You are what is wrong with this world. That's because, like most federal agencies, their job is to keep their boot on citizens necks. Full stop.
Those huge companies fix the one area they ask them to make improvements meanwhile other areas dumping 10s of 1000s of pollutants into the environment lol. The EPA is a joke I'm almost certain they spin a wheel each week to decide what they want to crack down on.
Walmart is a major offender. It’s cheaper for them to pay poisoned water runoff fines than fix the problem and clean up what is causing the runoff pollution. Blows my mind.

As an Ex racer from the early 2k, the EPA does actually do a lot of stuff. In this particular case seems like they extended the department in tackling other sources on carbon footprints. Try to understand that anything counts with them and hopefully the same mistakes that were made dont happen again. Also it would help giving examples instead of making accusations towards any company, ignorance derives from belief systems of unfactual ideologies.
Brent is such an amazing person. He has to be one of the most positive, most upbeat people ive seen on TH-cam.

Our shop also got raided by the EPA. We never got any letters in the mail, just 7 people in suits came in and checked every single vehicle we had on our lot. The government over reach is crazy.

@TheCarpenterUnion we somewhat knew they were coming because they raided a shop close to us and we are the biggest shop in the area. We were somewhat prepared. We let them check out our shop and told them anything beyond that they'd need to go through our attorney. We had heard that if you deny them then they will intentionally make your life hell. They shut down 2 shops near us, thankfully we are friendly with our "competition" shops so we got the friendly heads up. It really did open our eyes though, as we realized some of the HUGE companies we purchased parts from were whistle blowers.
@@michaelbolton1090 IMO I would say that the huge companies that supply parts were probably raided too, I bet someone at the epa decided to go after everyone of their customers and these companies just handed over their paperwork, a multi million dollar company is not going to argue with the government, they will just comply with whatever stupid rules the gov comes up with.

@@5lcalais1 only reason I mentioned the govt is because it’s the bigger body overall overseen EPA. During the last administration things were sort of relaxed a bit but the current administration have their foot down when it comes to regulating the EPA.

Some of my favorite years were back in the 90’s coming home to see some part I ordered for my 5.0 on my porch. Headers, Superchargers, NOS and lots more. Even today I want to swap a 392 in my RAM. Sad to see this industry being targeted.

I was at rock bottom living daily messed up on drugs, watching PFI literally saved my life, their videos gave me the motivation to better myself I've been sober for years. Without racing I would be dead.

I'm an old drag racer from the days past and now I drive a big block diesel with a twin-turbo 1-ton truck and you wouldn't know it by the looks on my face, but give me big twin-turbos and a lot of power and I love it

I found Brent through cleetus when he took bully down the strip and had tears in his eyes afterwards. In my 30 years I've never seen someone so passionate about something as what he is. To see him feeling so punished by the government is f**** ridiculous. There are far more things in this world for them to be worrying about than this. I left Cali 24 years ago and it used to be the car enthusiast place to be. from low-riders to classics to our street rods and now it’s the most expensive place to live and the laws are against the working class. Growing up there never would of thought Cali would of gone so far away from the god place it was in the 80s & 90s.

@@rollandsaxtonI am still in CA (because of my line of work, I have to be, unfortunately). I don’t have a race car, but I do have a race motorcycle. I used to be able to buy performance parts as long as I signed the paperwork that said the parts were for a non-road-going bike…. Which they actually were. Now, none of my vendors will ship to me anymore, and their reasons are the same as what Brent highlighted in this video. I have to have my parts shipped to my friend in Phoenix, and then he sends them to me. This obviously hugely increases my cost, potentially hurts the business of companies that sell to me (and everyone else in this state), but doesn’t do much at all to “protect” the environment. They are the ePa, right?

No you have to first win the people, then you get the courts by default. Via: demonstrate to the people that environmentalists have become a cult, by showing them the 40 year long endless string of disproven claims, like "An inconvenient Truth 2006" when they predicted we'd have no polar ice caps by now (FYI that film was a big deal in 06, it sky rocketed their power). How do we get this video infront of Joe and get Brent on the JRE because more eyes outside of the car community need to see this and be talking about how any modification away from OEM can be a 4k fine because if it's a possibility it will become a reality soon.

@PFISpeed Brent, you need to get some other communities together on this. The offroading community is another one affected by the EPA's ridiculous guidelines. Many of us are running aftermarket parts on our rigs and could be the next target of the EPA.

It’s interesting to me they come after the smaller shops and lot after nascar, f1, Baja, wrc, Indy, etc. that have huge events that last hours.

@@leftlanelanny4707 the law in the state constitutions gives remedy using law, we can notify gov and the people can come together and change state constitutions and or persons at will. See virginia constitution, bill of rights section 2 and 3. They are at a times amenable to us as an inherent right in all states

Here in Aus we gotta be careful cause the epa will fine people with noise pollution if they feel your car is too loud.
They'll send a fine in the mail based on their persons opinion, no actual physical proof, no testing of the car, nothing but that means the fines easy to get dismissed, we just take it to court (costs nothing but a day) and the judges dismis it and get up the epa rep for their absolute lack of proof lol
Half the cars they fine are under the legal limit anyway, if they'd bother to test em correctly then no fines would be issued.
It's a oh let's just fine em and see who's gulabul enough to pay up...

I have a feeling the guys on the front lines of the next civil war will be car guys aiming at the epa. Brent is awesome at what he does and as a person. We all need to stand up to the epa before what we love is taken away over false pretenses

Subscription earned. Don't give up as it's alright to modify things you own. The government is ridiculous at violating the rights of people. Sadly we lost our race track to a retail giant and I'm still sad about this.
Brent is one of the nicest and best people in this industry. The government really earns the hate with situations like this. A true family man and a true hero for the car community. Theres not a person that i know of that doesnt like Brent. They may be out there but all this is just a money grab.
My roommates and I were threatened with a $10,000 fine from the EPA because we had a car in our driveway that leaked oil and our HOA just kept fining us for it to the point where we just moved out.

Like Brent said, "this is my livelihood" ... I really don't care much for sports, or other activities. Modifying stuff and enjoying the "results" from doing so, is my life. I absolutely LOVE it when good ICEs and wheels get together, and the fact that we have these knuckleheads screwing it up for all of us pisses me off to no end.
