I have met so many guys in my life who would have some sort of some substance abuse (or used to) issue if it wasn't for cars and racing. This is a way that grown men who work 8,10, and 12-hour days unwind on the weekends. It's a way that they pass down how to service your car to their children. It's a way that they can pass down a healthy distressing outlet.
But it’s not standing his ground - it’s rolling over to say ‘proof of race car required’ That’s simply capitulating. The sale of a part is commerce, don’t need a speed shop enforcing sales rules on buyers. That’s pushing back on the wrong group.
What speed shops are enforcing sales and rules on buyers. Racers are tired of this Agency called EPA and the petition to get rid of the EPA which is part of the 3 Branches of Government let’s start there first there a made up agency of the Administrative government not the Republic Government of We the American people they started this fight using finds and deals we’re not negotiating with them we’re taking them down and closing their doors for good. Tell them that….
@@CopperAboriginies one of his solutions offered would be only selling parts to proven racers with proven race cars. He says so right in the video. I understand he’s shell shocked from the Feds showing up - but a disclaimer ‘for race use only’ should be good enough, rather than saying ‘sorry, you’re not building a race car so I you can’t buy the part’. That’s all I’m saying, we can’t win this war by excluding certain buyers.

Not just hobbies, but the ability to just fix your car and drive it on the road if you want. I have a 1994 truck that the ecu circuit board just burnt out on. With EPA trying to ban aftermarket ecu's the only choice you have is finding a used ECU that could potentially fail due to age again. The manufacturers and EPA don't care about old vehicles, they'd rather you throw em out and buy a new one. They also don't care if all the ridiculous new emissions equipment on new vehicles fail within a few years and end up in a landfill.
@@nilloc28 Yup the earth is constantly emitting all these gases into the environment naturally. Almost everything we buy comes from China that has basically no emissions regulations on their factories, far surpassing any vehicles we could own. But this isn't about emissions, it's about control.

@@willybones3890 I think you want it to be about that... 🤣🤣🤣 This is about having the freedom to do what you want to YOUR vehicle and YOUR responsibility if it is used on public roadways. There are many people who follow the law and those that don't. We should never make policies or legislation that infringe on other's freedoms regardless of "the goodness" behind the legislation. Goodness should be compelled individually through accountability and instead of making ridiculous laws that hurt others who follow the law. Instead, hold those accountable actually breaking the law. It is not the responsibility of a shop to determine if a vehicle is a track only vehicle. That is on the end user and should be enforced as such. I shouldn't be punished because 19 year old Johnny wants me to put straight pipes on his car. What Johnny decides to use it for is his responsibility, not mine. The same argument applies to guns. It is not the fault of the shop who sold the weapon if it was to be used in a crime. The crime falls on the shoulders of the individual. Now can they make a thing where you have to fill out a something similar like a background check to purchase off road parts... sure they could. But its going to create more problems than it is actually going to solve. Though, this is apparently too much work for our police though because they are too busy harassing Shantae driving while black. You see what I'm saying?? Lastly look at who benefits from this kind of crackdown. Big businesses that are pushing this legislation to increase revenues. This isn't about "clean" energy. This is really about big businesses lobbying for their own selfish desires. We are slowly legislating individual freedoms away and you are falling for it because you rationalize it through some type of perceived "for the greater good" mentality. When in reality that is just you who simply wants to be recognized and feel good about how others perceive you because it is an innate part of our ego.
Anyone who owns a business should pay attention to this situation. Brent made a mistake by just complying with a request for information from a Federal agency. PFI Speed should have reached out to a lawyer to find out what is protected and what has to be turned over to the EPA. Chances are, PFI screwed themselves over by just complying automatically. Let the EPA go through the courts to demand a copy of your records.
The EPA is getting like the ATF all they do is "shake down" good people that are harming no one. You build race cars that run cleaner as far as emissions that the big auto makers.

I expressed my disagreement with EPA over this issue with our Congressman, Brett Guthrie (R) KY. I received a letter from his office stating his support of the EPA. This appears to indicate Congressman Guthrie has become a supporter of Big Government, which is at odds with his constituents. This area is home of Ohio Valley Dragway, which holds several NHRA events.
Here's my issue... I'm all for the RPM act, race cars have been around since the start of the automobile but it all started with some random person modifying their STREET CAR in their garage. Who is fighting for us? I don't have the money to build a track only car! Nor do I have a race track close to me so I would need to have a truck and a trailer along with that track car. So now I'd also need space to store a race car, a trailer and a truck plus daily driven vehicles for my wife and I. Not everyone that wants to race has that opportunity, most of us simply modify our daily drivers to make them funner, faster, look better or lower/higher. We are Hot Rodding! We want our cars to be as clean running as possible, we want as much power as possible, we want clean air to breathe too! Why is it if I put a new engine and emissions equipment that get 30mpg in a vehicle that is 30years old and only got 10mpg with little to no emissions equipment that vehicle would no longer be "technically" legal because it no longer complies with 30 year old emissions standards, or because that out of date equipment was removed or tampered with?
@@crazeguy26 I've been working on increasing mileage and power running ethanol, and I have been coming up with ways to make ethanol to fuel my vehicles. The EPA doesn't give a damn, if I was working with something newer than I am (Its almost all pre 1974) they'd probably come after me too. Its not about the environment, its about controlling us and our movement.

This is a problem that can be solved if we can get the right people to talk and work together. True race cars that only ever see track time make up such a small number of vehicles, the emissions have a negligible effect on overall air quality. Race cars don't need to be emissions exempt either. We can make them reduced emissions. A limit needs to be found and set. Amatuer car racing was born from the availabilty of production cars. Modifying your car is about as American as it gets. The EPA and even State Government is going to prevent us from touching the engine in even the simplest ways. Here in Colorado, our new emissions laws require checking the ECU programming against a database. If the programming doesn't match, you fail emissions. This is regardless of what the programming changes are for. Want to change the temperature that your electric cooling fan turns on at because you tow? Now you fail emissions. In the aftermarket world, we have the ability to make a 2000+ Horsepower engine pass the current emissions standards. But this doesn't matter if they won't even test the vehicle because of a programming mismatch. We don't need emissions exemption. We need a pathway to pass emissions with modified vehicles. There has to be an understanding that finding a way to pass emissions will lead to overall better air quality as it will prevent the current disaster of a situation were cars are returned to stock to pass, then immediately re-modified with no emissions equipment at all. Sign the RPM Act: www.votervoice.net/SEMA/campaigns/45394/respond Write your local and federal representatives: www.usa.gov/elected-officials It will take the voices of all the enthusiasts to be heard to make a change.
Well said, 5250 Performance. I am personally disappointed with the growing perception that modified cars are in conflict with clean air and clean emissions. Modern ECU's and catalytic converters allow a predictable pathway to clean modified vehicles. I personally modified my daily driver to use E-85 because I believe it is a superior, cleaner, fuel in a turbo-charged vehicle (my vehicle is delivered stock with a turbo-charger). However converting to flex-fuel to use a cleaner fuel means that I must update the ECU. My vehicle will now "fail" emissions testing in Colorado because of the recent legislation to which 5250 Performance refers. I am profoundly frustrated by this outcome since one objective of the converting to flex-fuel was a cleaner daily driver. I achieved that objective and my car is now cleaner than it was than when it was born, and yet it "fails" emissions testing in Colorado simply because the ECU has been updated to correctly and cleanly burn the cleaner fuel. There is no option currently in Colorado to actually test the emissions of the vehicle under current law, only the contents of the ECU are inspected. I am happy to pay an additional fee to have the same format of actual emissions test that was available in 2020 and for which all required infrastructure is available in Colorado. Why is that not possible? Those of you reading this reply can infer that I lived in Colorado and have a vehicle that will not pass the current emissions testing requirements in the State of Colorado. You might be wondering how I solved my problem? I left Colorado. One of the reasons I left Colorado is the sharp disappointment you read here with respect to my car and the emissions requirements that do not make sense. I have to believe that driving residents out of the State of Colorado was not an intended outcome of the recent emissions requirements.
Bullshit!!!! Mount St. Helens spewed WAY MORE emissions in one day than any vehicle has EVER spewed in the history of the automobile!!! It’s ALL about power AND NOTHING ELSE!! Don’t be sheep! Socialism needs to be fought on every corner! Keep America great!

Brent is one of the nicest personal content creators I’ve ever met. Even when he is being treated like a career criminal by his own government he has never been negative. I love my country but ashamed of its leadership
@John Brennan you show ignorance like a marquee sign shows the headliner. Race cars are not the issue with our emissions. Do your nonliberal research and by the way, warrantee work still pays the technician. As far as companies doing what they want. That’s exactly what they are doing today, only in China and with Chinese workers.
You bring up about pulling a rickshaw from a conversation about a small business owner who is being fined for selling a computer piggy back system that allows you to defeat oem’s firewall. And before you can purchase this item you have to give your digital signature stating that it is for off-road use only. He never put his hand not one time on the item he is being fined for. Each of those hondatas that he is fined for are on race cars and not road worthy or registered vehicles. So I ask for the connection from Brent to pulling a rickshaw and I missed the brain boat. The same people who are fining Brent are the same people responsible for jobs going to China where they don’t have restrictions and companies can pollute without concern. Just like any other American government agency. They make blanket laws that are overreaching and unwarranted and unfair. Amazing how a small shop in Colorado is so harmful on the environment but the strip mining for lithium to build the batteries for the vehicles that require coal burning power plants to charge them is not a problem. Maybe I did miss a boat, but it was because I don’t take things for face value. Instead I look at a broader picture, like how does it effect the common citizen? You know the majority of the people.
i just hope enough industry people stand up i mean the ones with power someone needs to keep brent going he is the nicest most humble guy he would drive 1000 miles to help a friend

This is why I'm working with converting everything to older fuel management and older vehicles. I see carbs being the only way to get out of this government overreach because there is nothing to stop the government doing to cars what they are doing to firearms, and that's supposed to be protected by the constitution.
The is the EPA and what is the government doing to firearms? There is a big difference between trying to keep guns out people's hands who chose to use them to commit violent crime and responsible people who own firearms. Saying that the government is trying to take guns from people who legally obtain them and are upstanding citizens is a load of shit that is spread by the right wing crackpot media. It obvious that you can't see the difference or chose not to. I don't own a firearm and I probably never will, don't have any reason to own one, but I take no issue with responsible people who own firearms. The responsible people like my cousin who has maybe 10 or so firearms, takes great care to make sure that his firearms remain locked up and are safely out of the reach of any of his grandchildren or anyone else for that matter. The 2nd amendment is an antiquated amendment that was put in the constitution over 200 years ago and is really no longer relevant today. People in the 1700's who lived in rural areas who had to hunt their own food, protect themselves from dangerous wild life or be there own law enforcement had to have a firearm to survive. That's no longer the case today and I am so tired or hearing about the 2nd amendment. Having said that, again responsible people should be able to own firearms and in a way it's good. Think about it, what if another country was dumb enough to sent troops to invade the US, our armed civilians would give the world a new meaning to the words guerrilla warfare.
Criminals don't follow 2A laws. The restrictive 2A laws do nothing but hurt good people. More people are hurt and killed by cars every year than guns. Exponentially more.
@@charleslowe522 I think you should read some recent history then and in the very least pay attention to the arguments made by the pro 2nd amendment community. It sounds like you don't have any experience with firearms and are applying that to everyone else which in my opinion is not a good thing. Also pointing out you have family that owns firearms says nothing especially when calling and amendment old and pulling the typical response gun grabbing politicians spread around. I'll just say I strongly suggest you do some reading from the other side because what you just said sounds like the political talking heads. If you want an example, saying the 2nd amendment doesn't need to exist because it's old is like saying the 1st amendment doesn't apply to anything more than verbal speech. This is about having the freedom to do what you want to YOUR vehicle and YOUR responsibility if it is used on public roadways.

Guilty without a trial, sounds more to me like extortion!!!!
Sign the RPM Act: www.votervoice.net/SEMA/campaigns/45394/respond
Write your local and federal representatives: www.usa.gov/elected-officials
It will take the voices of all the enthusiasts to be heard to make a change.

What are nascar and f1 etc racing organisations doing. Is the EPA shutting them down? Or are they becoming more environmentally friendly and the EPA are chasing all others to make it fairer for the bigger racing organisations?
Brent is one of the nicest personal content creators I’ve ever met. Even when he is being treated like a career criminal by his own government he has never been negative. I love my country but ashamed of its leadership
@John Brennan you show ignorance like a marquee sign shows the headliner. Race cars are not the issue with our emissions. Do your nonliberal research and by the way, warrantee work still pays the technician. As far as companies doing what they want. That’s exactly what they are doing today, only in China and with Chinese workers.
@John Brennan did I miss something?
$18k in 30 days or its $180k sounds like the MAFIA !!!!!! Love you Brent !
i just hope enough industry people stand up i mean the ones with power someone needs to keep brent going he is the nicest most humble guy he would drive 1000 miles to help a friend
Thank you for producing this video and telling Brent's story and hopefully the EPA will relax a little and work with the industry not against it . 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
I remember just a few short years ago as the EPA started crushing the performance diesel market, the gas side of the Industry laughed and refused to stand up to the EPA ...
Welp now you get to feel the pain of big government...
"We hang together, or they will surely hang us separately"
Thanks for supporting Brent and the bois
Love ya Brent and PFI Family. You guys are showing today's youth that you can be passionate at what you do and learn skills to be productive and support yourself and the community you live in. Motorsports keeps young adults off the street and creates positive life experiences at the track.
I'm from Australia & I have been watching you & your son grow with his mr2 & you all having fun together for many reasons for having fun & I'm enjoying the things you do to help other & now to see you breakdown like this is so sad & the heart goes out to you & the family 🥺👎 hope they don't pull you you away from what you enjoy doing the most bro 😁👌 good luck
When the EPA asked for that stuff, say "sure as soon as you get a search warrent."
Brent this was such an incredible interview you did an amazing job.
Thank you for making this video! This needed to be put out there for everyone to see how far the EPA is using there power to push there own agenda for ev vehicles.
Keep your head up Brent and PFI speed 🤘🏻
any relation to Ronny Mac Jr.?
Brent seems like a genuinely good and honest dude and it's a shame the EPA is coming at good honest people like this and shaking them down. I'm not a big fan of Hondas myself but come the day that you can't even see a modified Honda on the road will be a sad day. I've tried to get friends of mine to sign the RPM Act but they either don't care or don't get it. It makes me mad because if it was something themat threatened their hobby or livelihood and do what I could to support and help protect it but most of them don't care about cars or the motorsports industry...
This is hard to see, and hard to get your head around as an enthusiast.
That said....
I'm glad to see this spotlighted. Too often, it's seen as a macro issue, but it's hitting individuals - business owners AND racers, and we're finally starting to really see that.
Kirstin, we agree. As an industry, it's time to stand up to protect our right to race. We're stronger together than we are alone.
Wow this is crazy man I'm happy to see PRI speaking up about this issue
Thank you, Ryan. Share it with your friends, everyone needs to know why the RPM Act is so important.
Stay strong brent keep your head up and you'll get out of all of this BS that EPA has against everyone not only you
Man this hurts my soul… for years I’ve watch Brent and PFI make awesome cars, make awesome content, make everyone he comes across, a friend. This type of human should be looked at as a huge role model. He is a great personality and a great father. With all the bullshit going on in our country.. why this.. why take down small honest businesses that are just doing what they love to do… sad it really is. Keep fighting Brent!!
Do you mean soul?
Brent, dude I'm so friggin moved by your passion for what you do. You've always done your builds by the book and it's sad to see an actual legit shop get hosed over some BS just to put more money in some asshats pocket...Keep your head up and keep trucking...you've got more support then you know amigo! Keep kicking ass and we'll keep supporting you!
We don't have any of this in the UK just yet, but times are changing for the motor industry...
And I'm sure you don't agree to that.
@@charleslowe522 if someone with a firearm breaks in to your house don't fight it. Lay down and take it like a good serf. You can call big brother once it's over.
@@charleslowe522 O hai Comrade.
Thank you Brent for putting yourself out there speaking on this, fighting back and blazing a path for us all so we can continue doing what we love to do.
Much prayers and support
Hot rodding not a crime
Yeah only using the original system but with a EPU engine processor unit! And keeping all of the fuel emissions system in place and working.
I love p.f.i speed there like family. I've learned a lot from them and we will never stop doing what we love even if it kills me
Thank you for all you are doing to maintain our freedoms Jamie. Brent, you guys are a true class act and some of the realest people out there. Stand strong.
Totally behind you Brent! It's crazy what's going on! Lord Help us!
