    Whenever I'm doing fairly in-depth research and comparing machines, it's always your videos, Tom, that are the most useful. I'd even go so far as to say that I think you're the best coffee tester on TH-cam. There are some very good ones out there, but they don't do as many tests and comparisons between machines. So thank you for all your work!

    We had the 3200 and i change it for DeLonghi PrimaDonna Class, and i love it!!! We also find the 5000 Serie but we didn’t want another Philips again. We had the Philips for 4 years with 1 issue but 2 times in the 4 years and we decided to sell it until still have 1 year Warranty (we bought it with 5 years extended warranty).
    At the beginning the Philips was great, but in time it wasn’t..after first repair was worst…we are glad we sell it and bought the PrimaDonna.

    Hi Tom In July I bought from philips EP5546/70 GB direct the 5500 for £540
    It was cheaper than the 5400 direct from Philips site
    I signed up to philips newsletter and got 10 % extra off.
    1 issue Yes the water could be hotter for milk drinks so if the wife complains I make my americano first which heats the water up to make latte hotter.
    You can preheat the first water by turning off the eco mode to pre rinse and heat.
    Alternatively warm milk in microwave and pour into carafe.
    2nd issue I note your previous demonstrations with the carafe that they leak.
    I had this problem, so I sent a video to philips, and they sent another carafe.
    Now it doesn't make a mess.
    500+ drinks in
    I have descaled and brewgroup degrease, and the water filter has just gone to zero.
    Thankyou for all your reviews and tips.
    Keep up the good work.
    regards
    Paul

    Thanks for this video! I bought 2200 on Black Friday ( 191,54 euros i Sweden )and am very happy. Luckily I settled for the cheaper variant as it is the same machine apart from the different automatic programs. Now the purchase really feels like a great purchase

    There are drinks that are pre-programmed for a double shot with less water/more intense taste - for example, a Flat White. Also, 5400/5500 has an option of adding the same double shot in most of the other drinks selected plus very flexible volume of water/milk foam, which is great for variety of cups. Their Latte Go also is a unique tool for situations when you have to swap milk quickly: one person uses regular milk and the other person needs a barista milk brew mix. The machine has also different milk foaming pattern for different drinks by adding less pressure/more water through a line. All of those details would be good to know. Philips is a much more sophisticated machine that most people think.

    Siri. Thank you very much for your very interesting review at. you and a comparison. I wonder if there is any way of making the 20. 200 a little stronger or closer. or closer to the Porta filter quality that you mentioned. and I imagine that that applies to the two others as well. Again. Thank you for your good work. Bernard.

    I’m so glad I didn’t buy 4400 and got Breville touch for about the same price.
    Why you don’t convince people to that way? Yes, it’s not a fully automatic, but the process of making coffee on breville touch/impress is so easy and the quality of a coffee is a whole different league

    I have had the 5400 model for almost 3y now. IMO it can yield good drinks if you fiddle with the grinder (grind a little finer) and the amounts (e.g., choose

    I have the 3300, the upgrade to the 3200 and I generally like it, just used it in fact. If I had to do it again I would get the 5400, the drink selection is too limited on the 3300. Also it's good for quick coffee and avoiding Starbucks but definitely not great coffee. I was originally going to get rid of my Breville Barista Express when I bought this but decided to keep it which I feel is the right move.

    I gave a like to this video from the first seconc, because i waited for am video like this. Honestly, is just marketing and i saw this 2 years ago when i bought my 5400 😅 the price is jist for "buttons" and fururistic look...compared to Delongji where at the price with 5400 you get an better grinder, more amount of coffee grinded...similar to an manual espresso machine and a musch different milk texture... i froth the milk at french press honestly, because i didn't liked the texture of milk obtained from latte go...
    Happy coffee drinking Tom!🙏🏻
    Honestly, i wait a video and is an interesting thing... if is a differemce between Philips and Saeco, in terms of grinder, amount of grinded coffee for an shot, milk texture...hope to see something like this at you because i didn't saw an comparison between philips and saeco for now😅

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! I haven't tried a Saeco yet, but considering they share the same brew group between Saeco, Philips and Gaggia, I'd suspect they're going to deliver similar results.

    • @EduardBumbaru
      @EduardBumbaru 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @TomsCoffeeCorner yes, i'm thinking at the same thing like you, but in the same time, the Saeco is the "premium line" from Philips theoreticly...you saw that Delonghi models are working different, yes it have same brew groups, but the machine itself, use that brewgroup different...more amount of grinded coffee...between 8grams and 12-14grams is a big difference😅 and the fact that it grind finer...
      If you can test some Saeco will be interesting. I really enjoy your channel and videos!🙏🏻😁

    I have 2200 for two years - best one. Normally I used milk from a microwave, so for me its better do my self a cappuccino once a week. Dont forget about cleaning: a metal tube is easy to clean and a glas of autocapucciono neads more time and good cleaning. Price 280€.

    The shortcomings of automated machines in general would prevent me from owning one in the home. These, to me, are perfect for a small office or shop.

    Hi Tom. We have the 3200 in the office and, since in our company there are ~50% of spanish guys and ~50% of italian ones, let me tell tou that the italian half would throw the 3200 straight to the electronics recycle can 😂. Coffee is too watery for the italian standard.

    You can probably get a better froth on the 2200 if you block the air hole on the panarello and pretend it's a real steam wand. A bit tricky and not latte art standard but pleasantly creamy if you get it right. 9g pucks are for the birds, though. Ohne mich.

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johne7100 Hmmmph. I’ve never thought to block the hole before, good idea! I will have to try that… But yes, those little pucks are too small for this guy.

    The 5400 looks exactly like Saeco's GranAroma Deluxe the higher end version that came out in 2019..
    I suspect that the 5400 drinks taste equal to Saeco's $2800 high end Suprema machine.

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mamadouaziza2536 Philips, Gaggia and Saeco are all under the same umbrella. So it would make sense that they’re very similar. But maybe the high-end machines are programmed differently, for example, to grind for longer to make a bigger puck.

      The only Saeco machine that actually grind the coffee longer that I recall was the one with the Bluetooth (Pico Barista), it also had a different brew group from the other Saeco machines. Tons of profiles and drinks..
      The high end Saeco Xelsis Suprema actually does have the same brew group as the lower end Gaggia/Philips machines, however, the grinder is a flat burr, build quality on the machine is a lot better and that iPhone like touchscreen is easier to use and to customize the drinks.. Clean up is a hassle with these super automatic machines.

    I think the 2200 is at a very reasonable price, and if it had a more appropriate steam wand, would be well worth it for someone who likes a coffee, but isn't "into" the process. 😉

      A bit weird, but do-able

    I can’t imagine having one of those automated milk jug steamers in my house. What a pain it would be to fill and clean and put the unused milk back into the fridge every time. Easier just to use the wand on the other one.

    I have bought two 2200 machines (2210/40), both failed within two years (blinking LEDs of death plus one grinder motor). Philips said there was nothing wrong and gave them back as "working". I also got a Saeco GranAroma, which looks like the 5400, minus the milk bottle. This one still works and is decent for the money (around 600€ if I recall correctly) but the quality and parts are identical to the 2200, so my confidence on this machine is REALLY Low..
