Nice video. If you'll do more automatic coffee machines in the future, try some from Krups, De'Longhi or Jura (this might be on the higher end, but from what I read some years back, it does better coffee than most automatics).

@@TealTechie They use larger coffee, pucks, resulting in a more intense drink. Some machines can even adjust their grind nearly find enough for a traditional espresso. Those, however, are the more expensive ones.

Thank you for this super-clear How To video.
I just bought a Philips 2200 machine and wanted to use up some ground coffee I have left over, before switching to beans. You didn't cover it here, and the instruction leaflet that came with the machine didn't explain how to make a coffee with ground coffee either.
In another TH-cam vid and on the Philips website, I discovered the way to do it is with a "magic long touch" on the coffee strength button, and the light switches to the measure cup symbol.
I thought I'd share that here for anyone else interested 🤓👍

This clip arrived at the perfect moment, when i drink my morning cappucino😅
You just blowed my mind! I had fee years ago an 3200 with a panarello, i tried to steam milk like you with it, but i did not succeed. I succeed this just with an Magnifica S from Delonghi because it had that plastic steamer longer. But i learned to do latte art with the Dedica, i learned a lot from you. Now i have an 5400 Lattego and i steam milk for latteart just with an french press, the lattego sistem just doesn’t steam it for my taste, my wife say that for her is perfect🤣 but…my OCD tell me something else. If i saw this video before…i woldn’t sell the 3200, even if i had some errors with the sensors(the machine itself probably had some problems)
Thanks Tom, i really waited for someone to do this kind of things with a machine from Philips. Happy coffee drinking!🙋🏻‍♂️🥳

Thanks very much for posting your experience with the machine! Yes, you can get better texture milk if you do it manually. The nozzle is short, so it does take a little practice. And, you need to use a small milk picture, either a 350 mL or 400 mL.

I found Philips 3200 from e-recycle bin from 2019. It got one main issue, main water pump silicone hose had rub through and caused pump to make huge noise. Fixed it with new hose. Second problem was steam valve sticking, fixed with replacement valve from e-recycle De'Longhi coffee machine. Next problem was brew unit inlet seals leaking, fixed with silicone lubricant. Next thing leaking was latte go -unit. Latte go does not really drip to coffee cup, De'Longhi is better. Start/stop button does not work correctly every time. In total they make good coffee, but build quality and design is way much better with De'Longhi Dynamica.

Tom, you are truly amazing and make it so much easier to understand the love for coffee. I love my delonghi 885 and followed all your videos on the accessories and mods. My coffee and espressos have never tasted better. I have a question about your advice on coffee grinders. Right now I'm manually grinding my beans but would love to invest and buy a grinder but do not want to break the bank. Looking for something in the 200 to 300 range budget friendly with the best performance. TIA Jimmy

Hi Jimmy! Which market are you in? I can suggest the D40+ as a single dosing grinder: th-cam.com/video/MywWDmMnZVc/w-d-xo.html

@TomsCoffeeCorner Thank you so much, Tom! Love the review and really like that grinders style, too! I checked it out, and the white model is out of stock. I went with something similar, and I believe they are manufactured by the same company. I decided to purchase the Turin SD40 since they had a white model. The only difference I think is the stepless vs. the SD40 has a lock. Maybe you can come up with a mod for the SD40 Turin to make it stepless. Appreciate you and your videos. I didn't like the breville smart grinder pro too much after I had borrowed it from my friend, but it's a nice option, just not for me.

I have a gaggia classic pro and this machine I bought for the office, compared to a manual machine the espresso tastes very watery but that’s because I’m drinking coffee from 2 different machines everyday so I can tell the difference but I think if you only have this machine it’s satisfactory. Note a manual machine would be a very big step up from this bean to cup machine.

    Fun review, thanks!
I like the idea of setting bean + water quantities independently before hitting the go button. My Delonghi allows variation of the bean amount, but setting the water volume is very iffy and I don't think it remembers the settings very well. Good enough for cappuccino, though, and for espresso I use the Sage. In fact, when I get to the last 100g of a bag of beans I dump them into the DeLonghi hopper and open a fresh bag for the Sage.
Re water filter cartridges, here in France I can get bottled water that has 3 mg calcium/litre, which is probably better than any cartridge can deliver. Tastes vile to drink but is fine for coffee. My machines say "descale me" about once every 6 months to a year.

Excelent video as always! I have been using a eureka mignon grinding machine with a delonghi dedica machine for over 2 years, but the process of using it measuring etc is getting kind of annyoing, but the coffe i get from is is amazing (15g - 40ml bottomless portafilter, i got the idea from you), how great a coffe a machine like this provides compared to that (we mainly drink cappuchino)? Im really considering getting a machine like this! Thank you!

I had this machine for 4 years, but I recently bought a De'Longhi Dedica. The main reason is that this machine needs a lot of maintenance. The group gets dirty quick. And the worst part is that it is pretty hard to deep clean.
It is almost impossible to remove all the coffee ground from the group and the inside of the machine. Even with a toothbrush.
It was great at the beginning but now it attracts little flies who like to hatch in the wet coffee trapped inside the machine, and I'm tired of cleaning it (which is impractical). There are a lot of little corners inside which are a nightmare to even reach.
I may regret it, I only have a Dedica for 1 day, but I cal already tell my Dedica will not have this problem.
