This was neat and I'm looking forward to going through more of your videos. I just wanted to add that as a physically disabled woman I have to utilize creativity to adapt to my environment all the time. When I try to explain that type of creativity to people though, I don't know if they exactly grasp what I mean. A video like this might help them understand though, so thank you!

Hi Brook. Thanks so much for your comment. I absolutely agree! One of my very good friends is living with disability and when I traveled with her to a conference I really saw how much creativity is required for her to simply get through a day. She needs to improvise solutions to obstacles in the environment dozens of times every day. It was eye opening and really inspiring. Thanks for sharing your experience. My next video will be about "art bias" or the misunderstanding of creativity that equates it with artistic talent, so that might be even a better one to share with the people in your life.

Interesting to hear about all the different ways to measure creativity? I think the scholarly approach is very different from the personal approach - most people I know measure their creativity most by the question "is this a good idea?" or "is my work any good?" If the answer is "no, or maybe not" then that seems to stifle further creativity. I was intrigued by your self-report measurement, and it took me back several decades to a dusty book on my bookshelf "A Whack on the Side of the Head: How You Can Be More Creative" by Roger von Oech. In one chapter, titled "I'm Not Creative" he references a study that looked at what differentiated creative people from less creative people. After three months of study the psychologists found that the chief differentiating factor was (drum roll) "The creative people thought they were creative, and the less creative people didn't think they were."
