Abandoned and Discarded History in BC’s No Man's Land

  • There is a stretch of land that lies between Yukon and Alaska that we like to call "No Man's Land", a term often used to describe an inhospitable area affected by either war or disaster. In this case, it's an uninhabited, unconquered stretch of land in northwest British Columbia that now holds the keys to our hearts. Come along with us as we explore, hike and wander through this truly special part of our home province. Yes, come for the views, stay for the laughter!

      BIG SMILES here right now, thanks for this wonderful comment. We're so glad you're enjoying the videos. If you pay close attention, I like to drop little easter eggs in our videos from time to time, I do it for myself as much as I do for avid/loyal viewers. If in the future you're still watching and if you're sharp enough, you may remember something I said a long time ago come to fruition within one of our videos. Meg is the short term planner, I'm the visionary/ long term planner. So when I we're drawn to the North...it's because the wheels are turning in the ol'noggin.☺

    I believe that was the ventilation fan for the mine? I worked in an underground mine for 37 years & we had them like that & even bigger you could adjust the pitch on the blades also the first mine i worked at the fan sucked the air out & when we out farther they added a blowing fan also to force air into us also to keep the gas down & prevent explosions

      I wonder if the one we found was two way. That was definitely a heating coil and gas line which makes it clear it was for heat. I think there was another part shaft further out that we couldn’t see, so perhaps that was one was an exhaust fan. Thanks for the input Larry!

    The video and the scenery were both expansive, amazing, and engaging. I shouldn’t worry too much about any squabbles along the way. Much like the claps of thunder, they are mostly there just to remind you that you’re alive. Besides, it couldn’t be too bad if you’re going skinny-dipping the next day! Ah, “Summit Beer!” Is there anything better? When I go for a summit, each person is in charge of his or her own beer and the means by which it is kept cold. Keeps down on the backwash. Thanks for taking us along on another amazing and beautiful adventure!

    • @SlowRoamers
      @SlowRoamers  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey hey! Thanks for the heartfelt comment(s). I like your thunder analogy, that was quite concise. As for the summit beer, oddly enough, im the worst for thinning ahead. I’m a visionary and can see years ahead, but when asked to think about what I’ll eat or drink in a few hours time, I always forget or draw a blank. Having Meg, my opposite, means that I don’t starve or shrivel up and die.

      There’s Boya Lake which is a must, but honestly, there are SO many lakes and rivers up here. You can’t throw a rock without it landing in a body of water…

      @SlowRoamers yeah seams that way, but between north vancouver and Prince George is where I'll run into issues really. Starting trip laborday weekend maybe isn't the smartest idea....lol

      @@darrensaunders4635 Yeah, I'd wait until at least a couple days after. Still, lots of lakes.

      I recommend taking the 99 from North Van, Lilloeet Lake is a worthy first stop and the Duffey Lake Road is 🤩🤩🤩

    The no man's land is actually. Taku River Tlingit First Nation. As they still use all the land. And have a co-management agreement with BC gov. Enjoy. 🖖🏽🧡🐾🚐

      Indeed! I realized too late to make mention of indigenous land we were traveling through. I’ll try to do better next time. Thanks for watching 😊
