Although GT3 racing is all the rage nowadays, nothing beats good old touring car racing. I mean nothing! The championship is still on going in the UK and long may it continue. GG to the devs for using their initiative and bringing this content to life in the sim.
Unfortunately, touring cars are dying everywhere but BTCC. This time not due exploding interest but low general interest. Though, since the death of WTCC, no championship can match the BTCC.
Favorite Super Touring car - 1997 Williams Renault Laguna. Alain Menu absolutely dominating that year and some of my first ever memories of motorsport. In terms of memories, I think the Snetterton night race in 1999. I was there and remember the noise so vividly, sitting at the last corner with my parents and uncle. It was incredible!
Only because A4 quattro had further weight penalty. I dont know where there is "absolutely" dominance here in this factor. Only real competition was on 1996, and Laguna was helpless vs mighty quattro, even with very good Alain behind the wheel.
What great news this is! I followed both BTCC and STCC in those days and I don't think I've seen better racing since. Thanks for including a small history lesson on top of all this.
I agree 100% historic content is what sim racing is all about imo. Arguably anyone w money can race but all the money in the world wont bring door to door group 5 or group c back with those same cars.
Came about to cut costs, but by 1998 the costs were insane. 10 million quid for two cars at Ford, Renault and Nissan and that’s the costs we know about. Laurent Aiello signed to Nissan in 99 for 750 grand, it was great but it spent itself into oblivion. Sad end for such a great category. Only hypercar since has had as much manufacturer interest.
The high quality history segments of your videos are what make me so excited to watch a new Traxion video. It really demonstrates the passion for motorsport that I’m so eager to share in. Massive thumbs up to everyone involved in making this channel as great as it is 👍
Race and Race07 captured plenty of realistic Touring Car awesomeness as well, a lot of that DNA was carried forward into the more modern RaceRoom touring car content as well. Hopefully they will carry forward some of that DNA into the new content as well.
Oh man, they can have whatever price they want to charge for this. Part of is nostalgia, but it is truly the greatest era of any saloon car series. Super Touring Power has been a wonderful event in the UK to get some of these old cars back on circuit, and it's unbelievable to have first party stuff for this category in 2024!
Great video, very informative and nicely presented. I absolutely adored Touring cars because of SEGA games like Sega touring car and Scud race all fueled by Sunday bbc Sunday racing TV, I am dying for this in GT7 but Raceroom have capitalised on a niche we all want in racesims gaming!! Great work! 😅👍😎🤘
Super Touring was just a very special period of motorsport history. I think these will always be my favourite cars to watch and to drive in sims. I've already re-installed RRRE in anticipation!
I remember GTR EVO where my favorite class was the WTCC Extreme. They were 600hp touring cars which just put a smile on my face every time because they were lively and you had to manhandle them a bit. I felt that was the rally group B of tarmac racing.
There are nowhere near enough sims with supertourers. FWD in general gets left behind so much in sim racing and I wish it didn't, because some of my favorite racing moments have been slamming doors together with people while driving the wheels off of a 300hp, FWD hatchback or sedan.
Awesome video and content. Really love and appreciate the historical references, just brings it to life for us. Thank you and definitely going to buy these packs. Purchased all the other dlc content already and working my way through different car/track combos with my mates. Such a good game.
Such a fantastic class and a great video - will be grabbing this 100% - love the slightly lower power but tricky cars for door to door racing. The Primera for some reason sticks in my head the most from this era.
I cherish Supertourers more than any category of touring cars. It's the category that connects British, Australian and German racing fans, providing them with some of the best racing ever. It's a shame that German and Australian fans back then were not satisfied with super tourers and wanted their high-tech V8 firebreathers back, a wish fulfilled in both cases eventually. Nowadays, both regret not being as invested in ATCC or STW as they should have been. One person in the comments section of a VHS-ripped coverage of an STW race put it best when he said: "Back then, I laughed at the STW. Nowadays i want it back." It's such a delight that KW did not forget about Supertourers. Now Frank Biela can finally race himself, his BTCC car and his STW car facing off everywhere between Knockhill and the Salzburgring!
I cannot wait to get behind the wheels of these 90's beasts. My favourite has to be either the Volvo S40 or the Nissan Primera. I've tried mods of the super tourers on rFactor 2 but there's something missing with them.
Me getting into Raceroom like 2 days before all these new vids dropping. I love it. Hoping i can get one of the starter pack before Black Friday is over! 🤞
Nice video and great to include some of the history of the series. Very nice! I currently don't have race room, but this pack could change that. What is the online scene like, would there be a struggle to find races in these historic classes?
Oh man I don’t have a pc but want this badly! Roughly how much would a cheap gaming pc be that would be sufficient to play this with even just with a controller!?
This is going to sound remarkably petty, but I really wish they'd add some variety on the trackside ads. It's all KW stuff. Same signs, every corner, every bridge, etc. It literally feels like I'm driving around in a KW Infomercial. I get they want to promote their brand, but when it gets to the point where EVERY track, EVERY Corner, EVERY bridge, is the same darned advertising....the immersion just goes into the crapper.
We've had this on AC for a while. LFM even tried it but unfortunately they dropped it. I & my friends really love this racing, why will this be any different?
@@kingcarrot6355 vrc makes some of the best car mods for ac. There's a reason they're paid mods. That's probably also the reason the series failed on lfm. This dude don't know what he's talking about.

100%! A victim of it’s own success
TCR also started greatly but died quickly. A lots of "what could have been".
@ it wasn’t probably going to work in Britain because we already have the BTCC.
Still cheaper than the insane Cost of dtm/itc though! it's a great shame stw and btcc never copromoted imo.

Dtm, then dtm 95, then btcc!!
This. Game. Keeps. Delivering.
Fantastic!

Very true, we think so!
definitely gonna buy this, waited so long for these cars. Thank you race room. Raceroom has the most exciting cars, best sound and great feedback

Yes, incredible event, great to see!
Please dont copy gplaps so much
I am moved. My memory goes to TOCA Touring Car Championship by Codemaster, it was the year 1997.
I played TOCA 2 on the ps1 when i was a kid. good times.
Nothing screams "RaceRoom doing the 'Christmas has come earlier!'" better than bringing the super touring pack!
F**KING YES!!! finally a good reason to dust the wheel off again
Hype!
Cannot wait to drive that accord

Instant buy for me. RR have come on a tonne this year. Carnt wait till the 10th❤. Super Stevie Soper!!!!
Oooooh yes! I can say that these cars feel and sound absolutely amazing in game ;)
I did notice you apparently had a hidden life as a super touring driver 👀

I'm going for first! Ah Murray was a legend
GOAT
These look great. Love me some more front wheel drive content. Can’t wait to try these. 😊
I'm so glad we're getting the Volvo 850 Sedan and not the silly wagon. Can't wait for these to drop.
Getting strong Toca 3 vibes :)

Toca touring was class...proppa snappy handling thougj
Another great quality video! You’re very talented
It's shocking how many decades the racing game genre went without official Supertourers...
@4:40 the 1995 cars were actually run by Warthofer, not Schnitzer.

This was fantastic thank you
Lfm hopefully will go heavy on historic content in '25.
Finallyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!
"And OH! OH! OFF! ITS TARQUINI!!" ;)
Looks very nice. Too bad I can't use my own paints. That's part of what I enjoy doing in sim-racing. . .
Hey Mister, what are the gloves you have there? They're really cool and I can't seem to find them on the nets. Are those still available somewhere?
Speaking of aussie supercars needs it's own game aswell
Sadly only 5% of the competition will have the skill to keep things sane on track

1k euro
RaceRoom isn't so power intensive, have a look at some used ones between 500 and 1000
These look awesome but i can't believe they all had that horrible LCD hud.
Raceroom is an awesome game. For me it feels like Forza Motorsport 4 on steroids.
most entertaining history lesson ever? I think so.
I'm sure these will feel great, but visually they seem to be too softly sprung and sit a bit too high compared to their real life counterparts.
