    Every person who contributed to Barney Miller, from the writers to the actors, made this a show that is unlike any "cop show" that are shown on the 3 network stations today. Barney Miller was a classic show.

    What a fabulous interview! What a remarkable person Max Gail is and he is a wonderful actor!
    My daughter and I love the older shows and watch them via TH-cam, rather than current television shows. My daughter left the business when she decided on college and now has a PHD. Times change and people change and it all works out.
    Max Gail seems very intelligent and is a delight to listen to. We just love Barney Miller!

    Max you’re a wonderful role model for resiliency - and an excellent actor that crafted a very intriguing WoJo by combining both an explosive temper, yet liberal heart and did it perfectly 👍👏👏

    • @kendallrivers1119
      @kendallrivers1119 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wojo was very interesting because of the contradictions to his character: He was a huge guy with an explosive temper yet was often the most sensitive and wore his heart on his sleeve; he had a conservative\old fashioned stance on morality issues and fought in Vietnam yet had a liberal\tree hugging side to him; A good looking player type yet a hopeless romantic who was truly lonely and looking for someone to share his life with. A very complicated, complex, lovable and hilarious character so well played by Gail.

      But yes Gail seems a lot like Wojo.

    During these perpetual lockdowns we all are having i watched all 171 episodes back to back allowing for a little sleep in between haha. All actors on this show were tailor made for each other. Interesting to note that the show had many real life cops glued to the series because they could relate. Hopefully more class material like this will emerge.

    Before Barney Miller I remember seeing Max Gail in an episode of Psych and NCIS but never even heard of him. When I discovered Barney Miller this past year I barely recognized him because he had hair and was a huge dude on that show lol. Since then though I fell in love with the show and with Max Gail as Wojo. A great character with depth and contradictions to his personality that made him so well rounded. Love the characters on the show because you can easily psychoanalyze each and every one of them like real people

    Todd Bridges must have lived in my neighborhood in Santa Monica in the mid 90s because I ran into him every day at a restaurant called Cora's. It really freaked me out running into someone from one of my favorite shows as a kid. I've met bigger celebrities, but that was way different.

    The live format used by Frank MacKay elicited great replies by Max Gail instead of cookie-cutter junk favored by drive by interviewers. The icing on the cake for me was Max Gail's volunteering experiences and stories while trying to be respectful.

      Well... He knew what he meant, but we all have moments where we forget someone's name, or have confused them with another person. It's called "in the heat of battle". And sometimes the interview takes a different turn than you planned on, and you have to improvise in the moment. As a result, your thoughts or responses aren't always what you would have said if they were carefully scripted. Max realized that and provided a name, as did the interviewer shortly afterward (i.e., Paul Peterson, former child actor, who played Donna Reed's son on "The Donna Reed Show"). Give it time, it will happen to you, too. In case you weren't aware, Mr. Peterson and several other child actors banded together to form an organization that helps protect former child actors from their parents, managers and studios who robbed them or grossly underpaid them for their contributions to television series and films. Most of them had brief careers that ended when they stopped looking cute or adorable. As adults, most have had difficulty finding acting jobs and have had to either work behind the scenes in Hollywood, or leave altogether to begin different careers. It's been difficult for most, as their social skills, education and other useful traits were lacking compared to other job applicants.

    I like this actor... couldn't be more truthful about the way Life... brings you so many Surprises !!!!!
    Just when you think your on a path to a certain degree...
    It flips on you so fast and then you got to go down another Street and it wasn't one that you obviously always can beat... !?!?
    Sad to hear that his first wife had cancer and that he had a baby and being a single dad...
    That is most everybody's nightmarish thought.. a illness that eventually leads to a sudden death on earlier. death.....
    I can relate to some degree... been in some what of this position myself as a mom... And then no sooner I get out of an illness..
    Like that wasn't bad enough...
    I have CPS>>
    (aka Child Protective Services}
    Hunt me down because of being dependent on meds...Which in itself is enough to deal with and comprehend... but to have CPS try to break up your family while you're trying to tell them you're not the worst case scenario and that you still can handle being a mom.etc..
    What happened was basically I reached out for help and end up with a hellish of a nightmare...
    So if you want to listen to another story just listen to Senate Nancy Schaefer and her documentary the karate as nice as child protective services.. and then now the radio show host Alex Jones talking to her on the behalf of what CPS does to families... Especially if you're low income, sick or dependent on any type of drugs are substance... These people are ruthless and heartless, along with the judges ,court appointed attorneys and anyone else associated with this so-called CPS... They're not out to save families,
    Just thought people should be aware of this...!!!
    Sometimes I don't think we even Living in America so call the ,"freeland"
    Thanks for the upload awesome!!!!!
