Anette got a lot of crap for not singing the Tarja era songs the way Tarja did. But she sings the songs Tuomas wrote for her beautifully. I LOVE her version of storytime. I love Floor's version of everything, but the Anette era songs sung by Anette are gorgeous.
Wait until you get to some of the acoustic stuff where Floor, Marco and Troy all sing. It's like listening to angels.
The singer is Anette Olzon. "Bye Bye Beautiful" was written by Tuomas Holopainen about the band's former vocalist, Tarja (pronounced Ta-ree-ah) Turunen, who was dismissed from the band with an open letter in October 2005 ( letter can be found here - nightwish.fandom.com/wiki/Open_Letter_to_Tarja_Turunen ), and his feelings before and after the time she changed her attitude towards the band and its music. This was at first rumoured among fans and later revealed by Holopainen in an interview] The chorus also contains the lyrics “Did you ever read what I wrote you?/ Did you ever listen to what we played?” in which the first part is a reference to the lyrics written by Holopainen, and the second part is about her lack of dedication to the music.

This is Annete Olzon, the second fem lead vocalist of the band. But cause the song is a direct '' love letter '' to Tarja herself , and Annette was new at the band back then, tha rage Tuomas had , only Marco Hietala, who was with Tarja was able to express it so perfectly . And maybe was angry too . This is a rage song , directly to the previous lead singer. Anette here , only is the melodic but creepy calm before the storm hits by an enraged Marco. She sets up the storm . And at the end she explodes too musically with those long tenutas supporting Marco harmonicaly . Genious . Even enraged, Tuomas Holopainen is a top composer. And Jukka Nevalainen , a tremendous drummer. The bandana pirate at drums. Beloved song .
Tarja, the original female lead vocalist of Nightwish, was fired with an open letter in 2005, because she and her manager/husband wanted to concentrate more on advancing Tarja's solo career. She put her solo gigs before Nightwish appeared in concerts just before getting on stage and left right away after the concert. She said she's not going to go to Japan and Australia with Nightwish and said she's only going to record one more album with Nightwish, and that she didn't need Nightwish anymore. Marko, bass and vocals, said at one point he is going to leave the band if Tarja is not fired. He was sick and tired of the game she played. So the band unanimously decided to fire Tarja. And this songs was dissing Tarja for sure.
Nightwish also have a song called Master Passion Greed, in which Nightwish let Tarja's Argentinian manager/ husband have it. Again Marko doing the vocal, with an even harsher tone of voice than in BBB. And that was it, they have never played the song live.
Tarja fans have another version of what really happened.
Tuomas was the one who got the blame and he wrote the song, a masterpiece, "The Poet and the Pendulum" where he committed a virtual suicide, so he would not in real life. He has told he never was actually about to hurt himself, but he had really rough time. He often wanted his ear-in monitor muted when they performed the song, so he didn't have to hear the lyrics.
Tarja was fired in 2005, Anette joined Nightwish in 2007. So it took timt to choose the new female vocalist. There were 2 000 women applying for the job.
Anette was fired too. She got ill, and was wanted to cancell many concerts, I guess they had some other issues with her too. So Tuomas called Floor, who happened to be in her sister's wedding, and said I can't talk right now, Tuomas sent her a message asking her to join Nightwish. Floor was recovering from burn out and was already feeling better, well enough to say yes. Tuomas: "Learn the setlist and fly to Seattle, you've got 48 hours! Floor:"OK!"
The bassist Sami Vänskä was fired too, and Marko took his place in 2001. Sami did not sing.
I think it was Marko who wanted to have Floor joining Nightwish some years earlier, but they thought they can not steal Floor from another band.

Marco Hietala, male singer/bass, is a living legend of metal. He adapts his voice to harmonize with any singer (he had duets with many), Romanticide and Devil & the Deep Dark Ocean are great examples for being on par with Floor.
Marco always stole the show
No, Floor is the worst fit of all of them. She just does a terrible job an the older songs, and the newer albums are pretty bad.
There have been 3 female lead singers for Nightwish, each has some songs best suited to them. The male singer here was Marco, he is still in the band and has several songs that just he sings. All are amazing and all are part of the bands history. Yes Marco and the band were not happy with the split and here they released their emotions, they don't play this anymore and never live. Mostly this was directed at Tarja's husband and manager who (they believed) wanted her to do more solo work. Keep the Nightwish reactions coming, they are amazing. Try Ghost river for more Marco and Floor together.

Resident Nightwish fan here yet again! Thank you for using the studio official video, the recordings for the live versions of this song doesn't do it justice. But yes, this is Annette! This was pretty close after Tarja(Tar-ya) was fired, and yeah there was anger. Master Passion Greed is directed at Tarja's husband and man, it is ANGRY.
Marco is the male vocalist yes, and he is amazing. You saw Romanticide right? He sang with Floor in that song. c:
🔥🤘 Yeah it is a diss but they have a way harder diss called Master Passion Greed aimed at Tarja's husband/manager. And this is Anette in this song/video. To keep it clear- the Nightwish lead singers: Tarja until 2005. Anette from 2007 to 2012. Floor 2013 to present. I love all three but there have been many battles fought over the years by fans on the singer subject. It doesn't ever seem to die completely. 🔥

It's not so much a "dis" but more a "I'm sorry, but you had to go"
I've seen Nightwish live twice. First time was in November of 2005 on their final tour with Tarja and the other time was their (first) tour with Anette. Anette is a great singer and did very well, especially with the newer songs written for her, but Tarja really touched your heart when she sang. To this day I cannot recall what song Tarja sang alone on stage during the concert I attended, but I was spellbound and I was close to tears as her voice literally caressed my beating heart.
Another day another discovery of The Jayy Show song is about a bad breakup I think.

anette olzen is the singer (she was the second singer). imo the best song for anette is scaretale (although we just missed halloween). she does character voice for it to sound like a witch

This song was composed with the idea of parting 2 years before with Tarja Turunen (pronounced Tarr-ya), the first female singer of the band, who was fired by the band on October 21, 2005, just after the end of the concert in Helsinki, with an open letter, public. This singer is Anette Olzon, the second singer of Nightwish (Tarja Turunen was the first one and Floor Jansen is the third and current one). Personally, I find Anette the weakest of the three. On studio albums she does an okay job but live is a different story, especially with the more heavy songs she is not very good in my opinion. But each of the three have their own fans (and others love all three), so not all fans will agree with my view. Tarja is pronounced as 'Tarya'. The background singer in this song was Marko Hietala, de bass player.
I would love to see you react to Floor and Troy playing an acoustic set for Planet Rock, the newest single "How's the Heart?" I will warn you that it is DEEPLY emotional, and has brought me (a 37 year old man, ex-semi pro kickboxer,) to tears several times. It's extremely powerful.
